Chapter 460 Frank's Move
Harper pressed her lips and remained silent. She didn't make any response to his words, considering them perhaps just a casual remark to improve her mood. The two continued their phone conversation as Benjamin also returned via the elevator.
He carried many snacks, placed them on the coffee table, washed his hands, then helped Harper up and opened the snacks for her.
He didn't ask about her injury or its severity, as he knew everything about it as clearly as Harper did, probably even more so than anyone else except Harper herself. Harper chewed the fruits slowly, occasionally glancing at Benjamin, which he eventually noticed.
"Is there something you want to say?" he asked softly, putting his notebook aside and staring at her seriously. Harper pursed her lips and asked, "Did you tell Kimberly that you want to deal with the Mitchell family?" "Did she contact you?"
"Yes, she called me, hoping I would forgive my mom, but...I refused." Harper's expression was indifferent, her gaze somewhat vacant. "I don't want to forgive, but I won't do anything to her, nor will I do anything to the Mitchell Group or the Mitchell family. So, I wanted to tell you not to take action against the Mitchell Group because of me."
She wouldn't forgive Jennifer, but she wouldn't cause any trouble for the Mitchell Group because of Jennifer.
Her feelings were now indifferent.
Especially towards the Mitchell family, she didn't have much reaction or emotion; everything felt quite calm to her.
Benjamin naturally understood her meaning.
He narrowed his eyes slightly and said lightly, "I didn't plan to do anything to the Mitchell family. I just hope they apologize to you and understand that angering you comes with consequences."
His actions were just a reminder and a warning to Jennifer and other members of the Mitchell family.
His response made the fruit in Harper's mouth taste sweeter, and the bad mood from the fractured ribs gradually dissipated.
Because of her injury, Harper couldn't go to the office for two days, but during this time, everything at the Martin Group remained stable. Although things hadn't been completely resolved, the heat had slowly died down.
Harper was anxious about the competition, so she hurried back to the office on the third day.
She had to walk slowly and cautiously.
She informed Frank about her injury, and he took care of all the company matters. Seeing her back at the office so soon, Frank expressed some concern, "Why don't you rest a few more days?" "There's nothing major, and the competition is about to start, so I'm a bit worried."NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
"Don't overwork yourself. Rest if you're not feeling well."
Harper nodded in acknowledgment.
After returning to her office, Harper set down her phone and bag and sent Sophia and the others to the meeting room.
She remained busy until noon. Although she hadn't been in the office for the past two days, Annie had been helping out, so the progress had been steady without any delays.
After the meeting, she returned to her office, sat down at her desk, and absentmindedly picked up her phone to check messages. But then, her brow furrowed suddenly, as she realized a problem.
Her phone habitually faced downwards, but when she picked it up just now, the screen was facing up. She recalled it several times and confirmed that indeed, the screen was facing up.
She was sure she didn't make a mistake because this habit had been ingrained for a long time. So, someone had touched her phone?
Harper fell into contemplation and immediately turned on her computer to access the office surveillance footage. Eventually, she saw Frank entering her office during her absence.
He placed a document on her desk, then picked up her phone. His fingers tapped on the screen, presumably trying to input the password. After two unsuccessful attempts, he put the phone back in place with a serious expression. Harper's eyes were blank, wondering, "Why did he want to unlock my phone?"
