Chapter 790 It Might Be Her Third or Fourth
Chuckling, Chloe said, "Xavia isn't someone you can describe with just the words 'troublemaker.'"
Ophelia ignored Chloe. In her mind, Xavia and Chloe were cut from the same cloth. One was after her father while the other snatched her brother. Both of them were detestable.
"I'm only 2 weeks along. I'll be fine," Xavia said as she shook her head at Carolina. She then took a gift out and said gently, "I heard you haven’t been feeling well lately, but I didn’t know what to bring since you have everything in the royal palace, so here's a simple herb. I hope you'll like it."
Perplexed, Carolina glanced at Kenneth for a moment before accepting the gift.
Seizing his chance, Kenneth said, "Mom, Vee has held on to this herb for several years. She even refused to take it during her chemotherapy."
"Geez, it's just a herb. It's like the radishes in the kitchen, not the stars in the sky. Is it necessary to praise it so much?" Ophelia scoffed sarcastically.
Kenneth felt embarrassed. "It’s not about money. This is about Vee's kind gesture."
"Yeah, sure. She's trying to marry into the royal family with a herb and the baby in her womb. It's quite a shrewd move, to be honest."
Xavia nibbled on her lower lip. With her eyes brimming with tears, she looked quite pitiable.
There were many members of the royal family around, and Carolina did not want her own family to become the laughingstock. She turned and said to Ophelia, "Please leave us for a moment, Leah." Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Ophelia was reluctant to go, but she did not want to deal with Xavia either. She snorted and aggressively bumped into Xavia with her shoulder before walking away without a backward glance.
She went looking for Callum but could not find him anywhere. She now understood why her brother had chosen this moment to bring Xavia to the palace.
"Do you have a minute?" Chloe appeared behind Ophelia with a smile on her face.
Crossing her arms, Ophelia raised her chin. "Is there anything for us to talk about?"
Maintaining a smile on her face, Chloe replied, "You might want to accept me as your big sister from now on."
"Never! I'll never do that!"
She would rather die than acknowledge a commoner like Chloe as her sister.
"Since you're so annoyed by me, how are you tolerating Xavia?"
Ophelia knew what Chloe was getting at and rolled her eyes. "You want me to help you get rid of Xavia?"
"No. We will work together to get rid of her," Chloe said, "I won't be here often, but you're going to see Xavia every day. Isn't that annoying?"
Ophelia frowned. Xavia was pregnant, so her brother would undoubtedly move her into the palace. Besides, her mother did not seem to object to the whole affair.
Chloe remained composed as she sat on a chair. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend. You don't have to give me an answer today. Take your time to think about it."
"What's your plan?" Ophelia asked, looking inquisitively at Chloe.
"We'll give her what she wants by helping her marry into the royal family."
"Did you hear what you just said? What kind of stupid plan is that? If we let her marry into the royal family, she'll be over the moon."
"I'm sure you understand Kenneth more than I do. Only by confronting the deepest wounds and facing the harshest trials can one be reborn from the ashes. We need to open his eyes toward Xavia's true nature. It's only when he's deeply hurt and unable to forgive her that he’ll let her go.
"Tell me the details of your plan," Ophelia said.
Chloe quickly laid out the plan and showed Ophelia the photos taken earlier.
Ophelia's face turned red from anger as she said, "This little girl looks exactly like Xavia! How could she do this to us? What does she take us for? Monkeys in a circus?"
From the looks of it, this was not Xavia's second marriage. It might be her third, or even fourth.
