The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 788

Clement was dumbfounded by Leopold's statement. Why didn't he lose out?

He then examined Leopold's condition. Nothing seemed to be out of place besides the bloodied stains on his mouth, and Leopold didn't appear to be dazed as well.

Clement couldn't help but ask, "Dad, what do you mean you didn't lose out? You had already given up your lover to him!"

Logically speaking, it was not only a loss but also extremely humiliating that he had to give up the woman he loved. Clement couldn't tell what his father had in mind.

Leopold took a sip of water and gurgled it in his mouth before spitting it on the ground. Once he finally washed away the metallic taste of blood in his mouth, he said, "I slept with her before I gave her up, so in that sense, didn't I gain

something?

"You see, I practically planted an illegitimate son into that guy's family so that when that son of mine grew up, he'd be the one to inherit all of that guy's assets."

Clement froze, stunned, when he heard all that Leopold had to say. He looked at Leopold in disbelief, a strange sort of unfamiliarity rising from within as he pondered the schemes Leopold had laid out.

If Leopold were to shove that woman out of the picture, he would be able to attain that rich guy's properties entirely. But would things even work in their favor?

Seeing Clement's shocked expression, Leopold shook his head slightly. "You're too naive. Tell you what-there'll always be someone who comes out and does the unexpected. Don't stick to your morals and principles when dealing with a powerful figure because they would never bat an eye at others."

It was the first time Clement was listening to such words said by Leopold, and he was a little surprised because Leopold had never taught him such tricks or ruses.

If Leopold had said such a thing to him when he was 34, he wouldn't have been able to accept it. But he was already in his mid-50s, and he had witnessed far too many atrocities and experiences to be shaken up by this.

Even though he greatly admired Leopold's approach, he still felt a little sympathetic toward the guy to whom Leopold gave up his lover. Though he finally got his hands on the woman, Alice Norwood, he still had to take care of Leopold's child and would have to give up his inheritance to Leopold's child in the future. That guy really had it bad!

Then, Leopold continued, "I'm telling you this because you've been living way too upright and honestly in the past. Sure, it might sound like a compliment, but I'm telling you off right now.

"You're so foolish that you don't know how to adapt to situations, and you're always getting manipulated by other people. Seriously, you keep doing dumb shit in the name of being upright. To hell with that!

"I know you might not care even if I'm telling you off now, but think about it. Vernon and Lyndon are both dead. I don't care what you think, but you must know this powerful figures can

hover

sometimes take a step back and

bow down too.

"Just like the feud with Matthew this time. Since we can't beat him, we should get someone to act as our mediator to put both our grudges aside."

Frankly, that would be quite a feat because it wasn't merely a woman they were talking about but the deaths of Clement's elder brothers and a few nephews.

With that in mind, Clement shook his head and said, "How can we put our grudges aside when Matthew has already killed so many of us? We can never make up peacefully."

But Leopold shook his head slightly, thinking that Clement really was a clueless child. "It basically means you've got to forget about the grudges you both hold, at least for a

period of time. But that doesn't

mean you have to forgo your revenge.

"You've got to think-just like how I gave up Alice to my rival so that I'd get my hands on his assets in the end. There are so many ways you can carry out your revenge."

Having heard that, Clement asked, "You mean we should send an impregnated woman to Matthew to get ahold of his assets as well?"noveldrama

Leopold sighed at Clement's incompetence to draw inferences and said, That's not it. It's an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth. The only way you can exact revenge is when Matthew dies. As for how you're supposed to kill him, you can leave it till later to think about it.

"We're not in a hurry, so let's find someone to stop Matthew first and protect our bloodline for now."

After a moment's thought, Clement nodded and said, "That's a good idea. We have the contacts of all the higher-ranking figures in Lambda City, so it'll be pretty easy to find a mediator. I'll go round them up now."

Leopold nodded his head in agreement. "Alright, we'll do it that way. Let the doctor come in for my check-up and hurry on to Lambda City. We have to get this done quickly!"
