A Surprising Twist of Fates (Sierra and Theo)

Chapter 399 Surprised

No matter how clever Melody was, she was still young. In front of a cunning man like Wayne, she had no way to hide her tricks. It was obvious she was using Douglas as a pawn, and Wayne saw right through it.

Naturally, he was furious.

"Everyone knows how much Edward cherishes Sierra. Even when Benson messed things up and their relationship fell apart, she still ended up marrying one of the Grays. Why? Because Edward didn't trust anyone else to take care of her. He was afraid she'd be mistreated.

"Whether or not she and Theo have feelings for each other, she is undeniably his wife and the daughter-in-law of the Gray family. Do you think you can just insult her as you please?

"She nearly died because of Melody. And now she's supposed to apologize? What makes your precious Melody so special?"

Wayne pointed a finger at Douglas' face while cursing and mocking him nonstop. Douglas was so embarrassed that he wanted to bury his head in the ground. His face changed colors.

When Wayne finally finished venting, he cautiously asked, "Dad, I've already offended them. What do we do now?"

"What do we do? Nothing," Wayne snapped, glaring at him before taking a sip of water. Then, his tone deepened. "The fact that Theo set conditions means the situation hasn't reached the point of no return.

"In a couple of days, you'll personally take the project documents to Southridge Heights and hand them to his wife yourself. Then, you'll have to apologize properly."

Douglas nodded obediently, feeling a wave of regret. His relationship with Theo had taken a hit. Who knew if Theo still regarded him as a friend?

After leaving Wayne's office, he went to the stairwell for a smoke. After he finished one cigarette, he pulled out his phone. "Hey, Melody, the issue at the stables is settled."

Melody was in her room. Her injured foot was no longer swollen but still aching. She wasn't surprised at all to hear this and showed no emotion.

Still, she spoke apologetically, "This was my fault. I hadn't ridden in a long time and never expected it would cause Ms. Shaw such harm. Even though she wasn't injured, I should still apologize to her, right?"

Douglas knew fully well she wasn't sincere. She was only saying this to appear kind and self-sacrificing.

Hearing no response from him for a while, Melody frowned in annoyance. Was he seriously considering making her apologize to Sierra?

"No need." Douglas lit another cigarette and said in a hoarse voice, "Melody, as a friend, I need to remind you that Theo is married. Let it go."

He meant well, but she clearly didn't care. She didn't even bother responding and simply hung up.

Listening to the dial tone, he stood there, holding his phone for a long time. He only snapped out of it when the cigarette burned his fingers. With a bitter smile, he put his phone away.

Douglas arrived at Southridge Heights with gifts and transfer documents for the project two days later.

Theo knew he was coming, so he had deliberately stayed home instead of going to the office.

As soon as Douglas stepped inside,

he heard the sound of a piano

coming from upstairs. While he

wasn't great at playing himself, he

had a decent ear for music. He could

tell that the pianist was deeply

immersed in the piece, and their technique was flawless.

He had always thought Sierra was just a pretty face who knew how to please

Edward. He never imagined she had any real skills.

"Is that Sierra playing?"

Theo glanced at him and gestured toward the couch. "Sit down and wait. Sierra has another half an hour of practice before she takes a break."noveldrama

When he had first heard that Sierra played the piano, he assumed it was just a hobby-a convenient skill to make herself sound impressive. But now, he was genuinely surprised by how skilled she was.

As he sipped his water, Douglas noticed the changes in the living room. A soft pink blanket had been added to the couch, along with a few adorable throw pillows. The heavy black curtains had been replaced with white ones decorated with green floral patterns...
