Branch One Hundred and Eighty
Jessica was glad that she was going to be schooled by one of the best in the industry. She remembered when she once wanted to sign up for her cooking classes a while back and the tuition fees cost millions. She wondered how much Xavier paid and she became worried about the cost. She was glad anyway because she had this chance and she had always wanted it.
The morning after they both got back to Chiachester City they both knew that they had missed a lot at work. Jessica knew she needed to move fast or else she might never get to open up her restaurant. Xavier went to work and was received with so many peering eyes.
It was the first time many of them saw the man take off time from work. They noticed the quick change in his attitude after getting involved with his wife.
Jessica on the other hand was uncomfortable with the two men following her ever so closely even when she had repeatedly told them not to do so.
It was getting closer to lunch time and Jessica suddenly remembered the promise she made to ensure she delivered food to him in exchange for him investing in her skills. He had kept up his side of the deal and now it was her turn to make sure she delivered.
Since the stove top at her place was set now she decided to make lunch there and then hand deliver it to him once it was lunch time. While she was cooking the guards lingered standing like a statue watching her.
“We are indoors and it is fine for you to sit,” she told them for the nth time. None of them made an effort to try and sit down. She smoked uncomfortably and continued cooking.
She heard the front door open and then close. She wondered who it could be. Leslie or Alicia would call before they came over and she was going to see Xavier so it was almost impossible that he would be the one.
“I will go check,” Butch said.
She still had a hard time telling them apart because she could not place a face on the name at all. Spike nodded to her and he left and came back a while later with a woman walking in front of him.
“Mrs. Delgado,” he said entering. Jessica lifted her head and her eyes fell on Emma who was standing in front of Butch. “She claims to be a close friend of yours. Is this true?” he continues once he notices he has been able to get the attention of the woman.
“Why would I lie?” Emma responded rolling her eyes.
“She is just someone I know and not a close acquaintance” Jessica responded before turning off the stove to avoid it from burning. “What do you want here?” she added in question her eyes falling on Emma.
“Hey, we used to be so close you could at least treat me as such” Emma said walking before turning back to give a sour look to the man who brought her in.
“Used to be the keyword” Jessica echoed before coming to stand in front of her.
“I came here hoping you could help an old friend”
“Help you?”
“Well yes, I broke up with Burke and since then I have been all by myself with the baby too’ she said rubbing her tummy. Jessica was unaware that Emma had done a procedure to remove the baby.
“And how do I come in?”
“I need a job, at least if I have one that I can provide basic things for myself and my child”

“Can you ask Xavier to give me a job at Braxton?”
“What? You want me to ask my husband to give you a job?”
“You know your husband is rich and owns so many companies. If he can give me something to do so I can have enough money saved up for the baby” She rubbed her tummy again.
She still had the devilish plan of taking Xavier from her. She wanted him to herself and still believed in her ability even though everyone she had shared this vision with had told her that it was a stupid risky plan that would never work out.
“You want me to ask my husband to give you a job?” Jessica asked again as if she had not heard the first time.
Emma hated that she was having this discussion with Jessica and she hated even more the fact that she would have to go back and forth with her while putting up a smiley face all the while.
“After all you did to me?” Jessica asked a wave of remembrance of the attitude of the girls she considered her best friend in the whole world.
“You stole my boyfriend and got pregnant for him, spread false rumors about me, and jointly fed someone with false information about me. You have done a lot to me and I am not sure if I should even be standing in the same space with you” she continued feeling the bitter taste in her mouth as she spoke.
“And you have the guts to walk in here and demand a job from me? If you were the one would you give the job to me? Would you have mercy on me and give me the job if the roles were reversed? I am sure you would throw me out to the streets to fend for myself” she adds.
Emma nods internally. That was definitely what she would have done if the shoes were reversed. She would have not listened to whatever it was the second party wanted to say about the situation.
“I would not be speaking to my husband about this matter,” she said turning back toward the stove.
“If you won’t help me for myself then think about the baby”
“Do not try to force me to take responsibility for your child. I was very busy when you came in, can you please excuse me as I continue with my work for the day”
