Chapter 40: Are You That impatient?
In the blink of an eye, Rex’s fists landed on flesh, and the gangsters were beaten to kneel and beg for mercy in minutes.
There seemed to be a sword light in his eyes, and the sharp killing intent approached. The gangster in the lead was so scared that he wet his pants, held his arms, and begged for mercy. “We…… we were ordered by someone. It was Sethur! She asked us to come!”
Rex’s pupils froze as he looked at Wendy pensively. She was so scared that she couldn’t say a word. She curled up in the corner like a kitten.
“Go away!”
Seeing this, they immediately got up from the ground and limped away.
Before Wendy could react, she grabbed her collar and remained silent.
Rex’s body was hidden in the dark night, and his stern eyes suddenly became a little sad. It turned out that from the beginning to the end, she had never regarded herself as a family member. Even if she was wronged, she would not tell him. Didn’t she understand that as long as she said a word, he could do anything for her?
“Wait here. Clare will pick you up in a few minutes.” After saying that, Rex turned and left.
It was only then that Wendy raised her head. He was just like his shadow, blurry and indiscernible. When she raised her hand again, she discovered that she was actually crying.
This was truly the first time that she had been scared to tears.
“Mrs. Gavyn, let’s go home.” Clare acted quickly and drove over in less than five minutes.
Wendy nodded, but as soon as she stood up, she fell down again. Her hand suddenly touched something sticky, and she subconsciously picked it up to take a look.
It was completely dark red, and it was a horrifying sight.
“Blood……”
Suddenly, Wendy felt a sharp pain in her heart. She grabbed Clare’s arm, her face full of worry. “Go find Rex!”
“What?”
“Hurry up!” Wendy urged. “He seems injured.”
Clare turned the car around and did not find Rex. Wendy stomped her feet anxiously and said, “If he walks, he can’t have gone far.”
“I think……” Clare said, “I know where the president is now.”
The Breakers was a hotel under the Glory Group. Rex would always come to this hotel when he was in a bad mood.
Wendy entered the hotel easily. When she walked out of the room that Clare had mentioned, she suddenly thought of a ridiculous novel she had read before. What would she do if she opened the door and saw something she shouldn’t have?
Although they were only husband and wife in name, but……
Before Wendy could imagine what was going on, the door was opened, and a tall figure quickly loomed over her with a nervous look in his eyes.
No one knew what Wendy was thinking. After staring blankly for a few seconds, she immediately burrowed into the room under his armpit and then began to touch Rex.
Rex looked at her with interest and then revealed a smile. “Do you wanna it?”
His whole body was intact. She frowned and raised her head to look at him. Instead of answering, she asked, “Are you hurt?”
“Are you disappointed to know i am not hurt?” Rex closed the door and looked straight at her. “Or…… are you worried?”
Wendy knew that her expression was too obvious and she didn’t know how to deny it even if she wanted to. She could only stand there with a red face.
“Clare brought you here?” Rex walked around her and sat directly in front of the desk. He picked up a pair of gold-rimmed glasses and put them on, as if he was going to work.
Wendy nodded. “Yes.”
She shifted her body and walked to the sofa step by step. She sat on the sofa, rubbing the cloth with her fingers and looking at Rex.
This was the first time she had seen him working. Sure enough, a man who worked seriously was the most handsome.
Wendy unconsciously approached and looked at the things on the computer screen. She asked, “Is there going to be a recruitment meeting?”
Rex tilted his head to glance at her and retracted his gaze. “Mhm, we’ll go to some good universities to recruit students every year. But we’ve been to quite a lot of campus today.”
“So you’re saying that the competition is very fierce?” Wendy asked in a disappointed tone.
This girl……
Rex stretched out his long arm and wrapped it around Wendy’s leg. He quickly kissed her on the lips and said, “You’re Mrs. Gavyn.”
Wendy lay in his arms and her eyes twitched. Just as she was about to speak, Rex’s phone rang. She glanced at it subconsciously.
It was Clare……
If it went on like this, she would misunderstand his relationship with Rex. The two of them were so close that they were even closer than she was.
Rex put Wendy down and walked to the window to pick up the call. Due to the distance, Wendy could only hear a few words.
Warning……
Punishment……
She’d better look out for herself……
They were all irrelevant words.
When Rex came back, he seemed to have suddenly thought of something. His eyes became indifferent and he questioned, “You need to explain the series of events that happened these days.”
Wendy knew that she would not be able to hide it from him, and judging from his expression, he must have already investigated it thoroughly. It was impossible for her to play any tricks.
She said, “Sethur made a bet with me and said that if I failed, she would ask me to leave school, so…… so I studied desperately for the next few days.”
“Was the injury on your head because of her?” Rex’s brows furrowed tightly.
“Yes.” Wendy said.
Rex was in a very bad mood. “Are you going to hide everything from me? You’re going to keep it from me for the rest of your life?”

Would he spend the rest of his life with her?
“I’m asking you a question!” Rex grabbed her wrist and said unhappily.
Wendy suddenly came to her senses when she felt the pain. How could he be with her for the rest of his life?
At the end of the day, he just regarded himself as a cheap product, sad or happy. Would he still care?
Anyway, Rex, the man who had liked her in the past, was long gone. The man in front of her was strange, temperamental, and unpredictable. She didn’t want to figure it out either.
“Since you already know, what’s the point of asking me?” Wendy’s reply rendered him completely speechless.
Rex was so angry that he once again slammed the door and left without saying a word.
Not long after he left, Wendy received a text message.
-Think hard about it.
Reflection? What was she reflecting on? Had she done something wrong?
Rex had just stepped out of the door when he saw Clare pacing back and forth outside. He fixed his gaze on him and asked, “You didn’t go?”
Clare looked conflicted. In the end, he whispered something into Rex’s ear. Rex’s eyes suddenly turned blank and he ran away without thinking.
When Clare knocked on the door, Wendy thought that it was Rex and remained unmoved.
“Mrs. Gavyn, it’s me!”
As soon as Wendy heard the voice, she immediately realized who it was. She quickly opened the door and asked, “Clare, why are you here?”
“Um……” Clare was at a loss for words. “Mr. Gavyn wants me to take you home.”
“What about him?”
“Mr. Gavyn has something to attend to.”
“Okay, let’s go home.”
