They arrived at an upscale restaurant on the twenty-sixth floor, its open-air balcony overlooking the city. The atmosphere was picturesque, adorned with elegant decorations.
But what caught their attention was the scarce presence of other patrons. The restaurant had only a few occupied tables, where people laughed and savored the evening breeze.
As they entered, a server guided them towards a spot with the best view.
Looking down, they were met with the sight of the Moonwalk pack, their pack. “Daddy, this place is beautiful!” Donna exclaimed.
The approaching night adorned the Moonwalk pack with colorful lights, resembling stars. It dawned on Donna, in that moment, that the Moonwalk pack could be so breathtaking during the night.
“Do you like it?” Alpha Kilian asked.
Donna nodded. “I do! I wonder what it would look like during the day.”
Alpha Kilian playfully ruffled her hair. “Then come and see for yourself when it’s daytime.”
“Can I?” Donna asked, her eyes wide with pleasant surprise.
“Why not?” Alpha Kilian replied. “You can come here anytime you please. This spot is all yours.” Donna understood the underlying meaning, and she whispered, “I understand. Thank you, Daddy.”
Meanwhile, Tony and Ben sat silently on the side, their minds preoccupied to fully enjoy the enchanting view.
Just then, the server arrived with menus.
Alpha Kilian turned to them and inquired, “What would you like to eat?”
Tony replied softly, “Anything is fine.”
Ben echoed, “Same here.”
Donna shook her head. “Your indifference towards food is the epitome of disrespect.” She took the menu and quickly decided on various dishes. But as she looked up at Alpha Kilian, she asked, “Daddy, am I ordering too much?”
Alpha Kilian lovingly smiled. “No. Order whatever your heart desires.”
Donna beamed, grateful for a doting father. “This as well. And let’s not forget dessert. That will be all.” The server nodded, “Of course. Give me a moment, please.”
With that, the server left, and the four of them sat in silence, eyeing each other.
Sensing the unusual tension, Ben broke the silence, “Donna, you should consider becoming a food expert instead of filming.”
Donna replied, “Who said they are mutually exclusive? I can be a food expert who can act too!”
Tony whispered, “More like just a food enthusiast.”
Donna frowned, offended by Tony’s comment. “Hmph! You’re so mean, Tony!” Tony forced a smile, silently acknowledging her remark.
Donna turned to Alpha Kilian, blinking innocently. “Daddy, look at Tony. He’s always bullying me.”
Alpha Kilian glanced at Tony, studying him for a moment, before saying, “Hmm, I think your brother might be right.”Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
“Daddy!” Donna couldn’t believe that Alpha Kilian would actually agree with her brother.
Alpha Kilian patted her head reassuringly. “Even if you’re a food enthusiast, Daddy will still love you. And Daddy will make sure you’re the happiest food enthusiast in the world!”
Donna’s smile returned, radiating pure joy.
“Daddy, remember what you said. I’m going to be a food enthusiast from now on. You can’t blame me if I bankrupt the family because of all my culinary adventures!” Donna declared.
Alpha Kilian smiled once again. “Of course. I’m looking forward to it.”
Donna giggled and glanced outside at the night view. “If only Nelly were here. She would love this place, and she would definitely enjoy the night with a drink.” A complex expression flickered across Alpha Kilian’s face.
Tony, observing Alpha Kilian closely, stared at him with intensified curiosity.
When Ben noticed their expressions, he began to decipher the situation. Soon, their food arrived, and they began to eat.
Donna remained cheerful throughout the meal, relishing every bite. In contrast, the food tasted bland to Tony and Ben.
They both knew Alpha Kilian had not brought them here simply for a meal; they knew there was something more he wanted to discuss.
Ben raised his head, looking at a distant spot. “Would we get a better view from over there?” he asked.
Donna followed his gaze.
“Donna, do you want to take some photos?” Ben questioned.
Donna tilted her head, pondering for a moment, before shaking her head. “No.”
“Why not?”
“Eating is more important!”
“You can eat and take photos at the same time.”
“But that would be so inelegant.”
“If you’re not taking photos, then take one for me!” With that, Ben stood up and tried to pull Donna along.
Donna couldn’t convince him otherwise and reluctantly followed his lead.
Once the two of them were gone, Tony turned to Alpha Kilian and asked, “Nelly didn’t go on a business trip, did she?”
Alpha Kilian’s gaze fell as he heard the question.
“Why would you say that?”
“Nelly would have informed us if she had gone on a business trip. Unless she’s doing something dangerous that she wants to keep hidden,” Tony whispered to Alpha Kilian.
Alpha Kilian smiled sadly. “It seems I can’t hide this from you.”
“Where did Nelly go?” Tony asked.
“For now, I’m not sure. But I’m searching for her.”
“Will something happen to Nelly?”
“No,” Alpha Kilian answered confidently. “I won’t let anything happen to her. Never.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“I’ve made preparations. Soon, I will find her myself. Don’t worry. I’ll bring her back safe and sound.”
Tony was taken aback by his words. “You’re going to find Nelly?”
“Yes.”
Tony inquired further, “Do you know where Nelly is?”
Alpha Kilian lowered his head before speaking slowly, “For now, I’m not entirely sure. But I have an inkling. Regardless of her location, I will find her.”
In that moment, Tony understood why Alpha Kilian had brought them here for the meal. “When are you leaving?”
“The day after tomorrow.”
“Take me with you. I want to come along!” Alpha Kilian frowned. “No.”
“Why?”
Alpha Kilian pursed his lips and explained, “You’re still a boy. If you accompany me, I’ll have to focus on taking care of you, and it might distract me. You have to wait at home.”
“I don’t need your care. I can take care of myself!”
“Tony!”
“It’s dangerous, isn’t it? You brought us here to say goodbye. If I didn’t know any better, you would’ve left without a word, just like Nelly did.”
Alpha Kilian was momentarily lost for words. After a long pause, he finally spoke, “Nevertheless, you have to wait for me at home. I promise, I’ll bring her back unharmed.”
