Chapter 54
I stared at Marilyn and then back at the phone over and over again until I realized that Marilyn was serious. She wasn't wavering at all. She wanted me to call Dean.
I slowly reached out and I grabbed the phone and I dialed Dean's number, but Marilyn snatched the phone off of me and put it on speaker phone and placed it back on the table.
“Ella. I'm so glad you called me. Did you make it home alright?...Ella, is everything alright? I tried to call the twins but they're not answering their phones... Ella, what's going on?" Dean kept talking, but as I was staring at Marilyn I really didn't know what I was going to say to Dean. But he was smarter than I realized. And he knew people better than I thought. "Marilyn." He finally said.
"That's right Dean. I'm here." Marilyn said.
"What the hell are you doing to Ella? Where is she?" Dean asked.
"She's sitting right here. She's fine." Marilyn said.
"If you hurt her, I will make your life a living hell.” Dean threatened her.
"You sound like you really care about her." Marilyn said.
"She's my daughter. Of course I do. What do you want?" Dean asked. And I saw that maniacal grin spread across Marilyn's face. She definitely had something planned here.
"If you want Ella back then you have divorce your wife." Marilyn said, almost in an evil way that I had never heard before. Like she had really thought this through and she was finally getting what she wanted.
I shook my head while staring at her, but she just glared at me. Not caring at all what I thought about her behaving like this. Behaving like a teenager. It was pathetic.
She was acting like a spoiled teeneger that lost her boyfriend and she was going to do whatever she could to get him back. She reminded me of Leia.
"I will never divorce my wife and you're an idiot for thinking that I would." Dean yelled through the phone.
“I guess you don't Ella as much as you claim to.” Marilyn said.
The bitch was using me as a bargaining chip. She wasn't going to leave until I was of age, or until she got what she wanted from Dean. I couldn't believe that she was doing this.
I knew that she was an evil bitch that didn't like me, but this is further than I thought she was ever capable of going. She was trying to ruin his new family, all because she had some misguided notion that he abandoned her with me when I was a baby. She just admitted that he didn't even know about me.
"I don't love you anymore Marilyn. You made sure of that 18 years ago. You did everything you could to make sure that I would hate you." Dean said, angrily. And I was actually happy with the way that he was standing up to her. But at the same time, I wasn't surprised. He's an Alpha. He doesn't take crap from anyone. Especially not a human.
"I didn't call you because I love you Dean. I called because you owe me compensation." Marilyn snapped straight back at him. And Dean went quiet for a moment.
I looked at her and she was actually doing this. She was actually going to get as much money as she could out of him. That's all she cares about. That's all she wants. She never cared about anything else in her life.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Dean asked.
"Compensation for raising your kid for 18 years." Marilyn snapped. And Dean got quiet again.
I couldn't tell what he was doing, but he was some place public. He wasn't at
home and there was a lot of noise in the background.
"Ella. Are you there?" Dean asked. And I snapped out of my thoughts.
"Yeah." I said, just above a whisper.
"Are you hurt? Did she hurt you?" Dean asked. And I looked back at Marilyn.
She was giving me a look telling me to behave myself so she got her money. Or she would hurt me if I didn't.
"She hasn't hurt me." I finally said. And I heard him exhale with relief. And Marilyn looked back at the phone.
"Alright Marilyn. I'll give you a substantial amount of money under one condition." Dean said. And the smile that spread across Marilyn's face even looked evil.
"And what is that condition?" Marilyn asked.
"You need to leave Alaska. Right away and leave Ella alone." Dean said.
So Marilyn hung up the phone and she picked it up and looked at it briefly before she handed it back to me and stood up from the chair and headed towards the doorway of the kitchen.
"You can have your billionaire dad now. I don't want anything to do with you anymore." Marilyn said, slinking out of the room like her lifelong quest for money was finally fulfilled.
I always knew that she didn't like me. But actually hearing those words come out
of her mouth, it was something completely different. It wasn't something that I was prepared for.
She really never did want me.
I could feel the tears start to prick the corner of my eyes and I got up from the table and I walked towards the front door of the house and as soon as I opened it
I saw the twins standing outside, leaning against their car.
They had been waiting for me and I didn't know how much they had heard.
But as soon as I walked down the stairs Nathan walked over and enveloped me in a bear hug so I'm guessing they heard a lot more than I wanted them to. Or he just noticed the tears that were starting to streak my face.
"We told our dad that we found our mate." Tristan said, walking over to us. "You're coming home with us." He added, and I nodded my head while it was still buried in Nathan's chest.
Nathan finally let me go and Tristan caught me in a hug. So Nathan drove the car this time and Tristan sat in the backseat with me.
I didn't say anything the whole way back to their house.
They could see that I was upset and I didn't know how much they knew and they weren't asking me questions. I was happy with that. I didn't want to talk about it. But Tristan had his arm around me and I was pressed up against his side.
When we got back to their house, I got out of the car and I looked over at Wendy's house but I couldn't see anyone there.
I figured I would see her later. Now probably wasn't the best time.
As soon as we walked inside the house I was blown away at what it looked like inside. It was nothing like my house. It was gorgeous. I'd never lived in anything this nice before. I was too scared to touch anything, it was so nice and clean. "Ella. These are our parents. This is Alpha Robert and Luna Holly." Tristan said. "It's very nice to meet you." I said.
"It's nice to finally meet you as well." Holly said, shaking my hand.
Robert didn't really say anything. He just stood there looking at me. I think he was sizing me up to see if I was worthy of his sons. Or to see if I was worthy of being the next Luna of their pack. Even if I didn't have a wolf.
I saw Tristan giving him a pretty dangerous look and Robert stopped staring at
me.
"If you'll excuse me, I have work to do in the office." Robert said. And I nodded my
head.
"Why don't you guys take Ella upstairs to get settled in?" Holly asked.
So they each took a hand each and they took me upstairs to the third floor of the house and I was taken into a room at the end of the hall with a massive bed in it that had to have been specially built. There's no way a bed that big would be sold in stores. I'd never seen one so big.
I started looking around and there was a fireplace on the wall, a large smart TV on the other wall and I looked in the massive wardrobe that looked like a completely different room.
I then walked across to the bathroom and it was just as beautiful as the rest of the house.
"Wait a minute. You two sleep in here together?" I asked, curiously.
"Unless we're fighting. Then we have separate bedrooms. But we haven't really ever done anything alone since we were kids. The only time we sleep in a different room is when we're fighting or we're screwing..." Nathan started, but stopped when Tristan elbowed him.
"Screwing someone." I finished for him.
"Entertaining a friend. You're the only one that actually knows or has seen that we still sleep in the same room. You know what people are like. They'd love to start pathetic rumors like that." Tristan said, sitting on the bed.
I nodded my head cause I did completely understand. And I didn't blame them for not telling anyone.noveldrama
Besides, this just made it easier for us. So they didn't have to move all of their stuff out of different rooms or get new furniture to accommodate me being here. Because we would all definitely fit in that bed.
"We've always felt like we had one soul in two bodies. It's hard to explain. But now we're sharing a mate as well." Nathan said, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind.
"Does your dad hate me?" I asked. And Tristan snapped his head over towards
me.
"No. Absolutely not. He just needs time to get used to the idea. He thought you'd already have your wolf and that it would be a lot easier than it is." Tristan said.
"You've had this curse for 100 years before you even found me? Did he really think it was going to be easy once you found me? I mean, that doesn't really make sense." I said. And they both chuckled.
"That's a good point." He said.
I didn't have any clothes or anything with me so the guys said that they would help me with that.
But when I had a shower that night I was given a shirt by the guys and I climbed into bed with them, sandwiched between the two of them.
I laid there listening to their hearts beating, feeling their body heat radiating on me
and trying to forget the events of the day. I just wanted to pretend like it didn't happen and that I didn't have to worry about Marilyn.
What do you think?
