Strained Relationships
The days go by so quickly, even the clouds, the sky, and the sun move with the fleeting time. One month, feels so fast, even the months that pass by are very unnoticeable. It had been almost half a year since Belvina and Anggi had returned to Jakarta. They also left their jobs while they were there. The distance between Belvina and Anggi’s homes, although still in the same province, are in different cities and regencies. Belvina’s house is in Kendal, and Anggi’s is in Pati, Central Java, Indonesia.
For almost half a year, the relationship between Gifer and Belvina was getting strained. Both of them did not keep in touch with each other, although they could, but both chose not to contact each other let alone meet. Belvina this morning was in her room typing something. Yes, after being unemployed for a long time, she decided to open a business at home, even though it was only a clothing store. Belvina’s mother can sew, so she can promote through social media also the clothes sewn by her mother.
Visitors and other buyers always flock to Belvina’s shop. The profits earned are also quite enough for the daily life of Belvina’s family. Like today, Belvina was typing something for promotion on her social media. Her mother came to bring some clothes that needed to be photographed by Belvina.
Ceklek!
Belvina suddenly turned to her mother who had brought the clothes, helping her arrange and photograph the clothes.
“Vin, you have no intention of returning to Jakarta?” Asked the mother.
Belvina immediately stopped taking pictures, facing her mother. Clearly, her mother could see that there was still a desire for Belvina to return to Jakarta, but Belvina always denied it. Her eyes blinked a few times and tried to change the subject.
“What the hell, Mom? Come on, it’s still not tilted to the left, Mom.” Belvina corrected the position of the shirt with the different motifs and resumed photographing it.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
“Until when, hm? Until when will you always deny it, Vin? You never answer my questions about it. What’s the matter? Tell me, son.” The mother said.
Belvina pursed her lips, the tears she had been holding back fell again. Belvina couldn’t stand it anymore, her mother kept pressing her about it. Belvina also wanted to explain the truth, but she was also afraid that her mother would not accept the truth, just like she was so disappointed with Gifer.
“Mom…” Belvina immediately hugged her mother and cried loudly.
“Hiks hiks hiks..”
“Why, what’s going on in Jakarta? You’ve been transferring a lot of money to us, kiddo. Are you uncomfortable at your workplace in Jakarta?” Asked the mother who was still confused by this situation. Belvina released her hug and tried to explain everything. They both sat on the bed.
“What’s wrong, hm?”
“Mom, it’s actually not a work problem, while working in Jakarta, all my friends are nice, especially Anggi.”
“Then what makes it hard for you to go back there?”
“It’s a matter of love, Mom. In Jakarta, I had a lover, his name is Gifer, but… my lover has betrayed me, Mom. Hiks… I was going back to Kaliwungu just to calm down for a few days, but I don’t think I can go back there. Gifer… hiks… he has betrayed me by sleeping with another girl, and that girl is pregnant, hilks… But Gifer said it was just an accident, he said that he was framed by someone who was being mean to him. What can I do, Mom? If you ask me if I still love him? Yes, I still love him very much until now, hiks.. but I don’t know, whether I will come back or not, hiks hiks..” Belvina explained everything while crying.
Belvin’s tears were getting heavier remembering all the sweet memories between him and Gifer. The mother silenced her own mouth with the palm of her right hand in disbelief.
“Oh my… honey, be patient. Maybe God has something else planned for you. But, does Gifer love you? We can’t completely blame Gifer either. However, if we are framed, we can’t do anything. Maybe Gifer did it unintentionally, or even forced by that bad guy. But, did Gifer marry that girl?” Asked by her mother, Belvina could only cry without answering her mother’s question.

Gifer was still in his office, the man stood facing the glass window whose curtains had been opened and immediately revealed the view of Jakarta from up there. Houses and even high-rise apartments were also visible there. Gifer looked at that until the voice of his best friend surprised him.
“Do you still miss Vina?” Gifer frowned slightly at the voice and turned his head to where his Friend was standing. Only for a moment, after which Gifer faced the window again.
“Yes, I still miss Vina very much and will wait for her.”
“Until when? Even you’re already three heads old now.”
“I don’t know.”
“Wow, this is crazy. Why don’t you just marry Nara? She’s obviously already pregnant with your child and may have given birth by now.” Haris’ words made Gifer raise one right eyebrow and faced his body towards Haris.
“I don’t love Nara. I only love Vina, no matter what Nara will do.”
“Then why don’t you take Vina to Kaliwungu Kendal?”
“Not yet, Haris. I’m sure, someday when she realizes it, Vina will come back to Jakarta and see me.”
“Huh… whatever. Love does make people crazy sometimes.”
“Did Anggi not tell you?” Gifer asked back.
Haris immediately nodded his head. Gifer bit his lower lip looked down for a while and looked back at Haris. Gifer smiled wryly knowing that his love life was not as lucky as Haris.
“You should be grateful that you can still communicate with your lover. It’s just my fate that is unlucky because God doesn’t allow me to communicate with my lover anymore.” After saying that, Gifer walked to the sofa and sat there.
“This company is indeed getting more successful, I’m still very grateful to God for that. But, the person who always reminds me of God is no longer by my side. Hah … never mind, don’t remember it. If Belvina is my destiny, then that girl will come back to me, I’m sure of it.” Gifer said.
Haris who had been watching Gifer talking nodded, indeed the path of destiny that Gifer chose at this time was right because he didn’t marry Nara, the girl who had harmed him and trapped him. Nara did not deserve to be married by an honorable man like Gifer because of her behavior that could be said to have committed a crime. Haris, who had worked with Gifer for years, knew everything. The twists and turns of life experienced by Gifer really made him feel sorry for his friend. But Haris also couldn’t do anything but comfort and encourage his friend, helping if Gifer needed his help.
“Be patient, Gif. I know, God must have given you a destiny like this because there are better things in the future that you can achieve.” Haris said while stroking Gifer’s shoulder, and Gifer could only nod in response.
