Chapter 45 A chance
Audrey POV
It’s been weeks since the incident, and since then, I and Ivan haven’t been on good terms. I’ve tried talking to him on several occasions, but he always cut me off, and called me a betrayer. I know how he feels, even I will feel the same way, especially the kind of life I’ve lived, but if I were him, I’d give us a chance, for the sake of my sister’s happiness. The only thing keeping my hope alive now is the fact that Nora loves me, else it would’ve been more difficult for me.
I’ve been friends with Ivan almost all my life, and getting separated from him now is something I can’t handle, he’s always been my best buddy. I’ve tried getting Alex to talking to him, but he didn’t listen to him either, I’ll just be here, till he has a change of mind, and realize how much I love his sister, I pray he realizes that soon, and give us a chance together.
I took a last glance at my reflection on the mirror, before finally walking out of my room, and as soon as I stepped out of the room, I walked through the hallway, and straight to the living room, where I met mom, watching TV. Can this woman ever do something with her time, other than watching movies? Did I forgot to tell you this? She has reduced in frustrating me, after she discovered that Nora is now my girlfriend, aren’t I lucky?
“Mom do you watch movies always?” I asked with an eye roll, as I walked into the living room, and glared at her, which she of course returned.
“I presume that’s how to say a good morning, right?” She scoffed, and took her attention back to the TV. I think I’m just going to get rid of that TV soon, if she isn’t leaving here anytime soon, I mean, it’s just too early for this.
“Good morning.” I rolled my eyes, before heading to the dining room, where my food was already served. I’m missing Laura and her food. She took a few days off, to spend some time with her boyfriend.
The sound of my ringing phone pulled my attention, just before I was about starting to eat, and I glanced at it lazily, but my face brightened at the caller, it’s my girlfriend. Do you know the joy of waking up to see your girlfriend’s call? You should understand the feelings, if you have a girlfriend, whom you love so much. You may view this as a childish act, but that’s not it.
Reaching out to the phone, I grabbed it, and slid the answer button, before holding the phone to my ear, waiting to hear her ever beautiful voice, which always brightened my day.
“Good morning.” Her ever sweet and calmed voice sounded from the other end, and slowly, a smile formed on my lips. In the case if you’re thinking I’m high, just know that you’re not wrong, because I’m so high in love with Nora, she’s always driving me crazy with everything about her, the smiles, and everything.
“Good morning love, how was your night?” I asked excitedly, as I felt a tingling sensation over my body, I think I’m losing my mind, because whatever she’s doing to me, was really working.
“It was fine. Can we hang out later if you’re free tonight?” She asked, and I almost screamed out excitedly, wait! Is she asking me out?
My excitement slowly died down, as the thought of her brother, crossed my mind. I already caused a lot of damages, and adding to it, is the last thing I would want I don’t want to make things difficult than it already is, as much as I’m happy about this, the thought of Ivan, is making me hold back, I don’t want him getting mad at her.
“Uhm… how about…”
“Ivan? Don’t worry, I’ll take care of him.” She cut me off, even before I could finish my statement, and I pursed my lips, while nodding, like she could see me.
“Alright then, let me know where I should come pick you later.” I said.
“Alright, see ya.” She said, before the call finally got disconnected. Am I really doing the right thing?
After finishing my breakfast, I gulped down some water, and cleaned my mouth, before standing up, and walked into the living room, where I met mom, still watching movie.
“I’m off to work mom.” I said, and hugged her slightly, before heading to the door. Stepping out of the house, I walked over to the parking lot, and hopped in on my car, before driving out of the compound, and in the next minutes, I was on my way, driving to the bar. I think I’m going to quit working as a waiter soon, I’ll just start up a business of my own, that’ll be a good idea.
After driving for what seemed like forever, I finally stopped in front of the bar, and parked neatly, before alighting, after which I walked straight into the bar, and as expected, I met customers, already waiting. For the sake of heaven, how could someone be drinking early this morning? Do they care about their healths at all?
Walking over to my usual spot, which is behind the counter, I got to work, as I started with cleaning the cups, and after I was done, I started taking orders.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
After what seemed like forever of being busy with the customers, I finally sat down to rest, when someone walked inside the bar, getting my attention, and raising my gaze, I was welcomed with the least expected person, it’s Ivan! Wait! Is he here to bully me again? Well, that’s what he’s been doing since the incident, so you wouldn’t blame me thinking that, now that he’s here right?
“Ivan?” I called surprisingly, and he smirked. I know that smirk, that’s the one he always have on his face, whenever he want to do something nasty, I just hope he’s not here to cause trouble for me? I won’t take that from him, this is my work place, and I wouldn’t want anyone coming here to bully me.
He glared at me, having a blank look on his face, while I waited patiently for him to state what brought him.
“Audrey I… I… I’m sorry.” He drawled, while rolling his eyes, and my eyes popped out of their sockets. Wait! Did he just said he’s sorry? Like Ivan just apologized? I batted my eyelashes, to be sure I wasn’t dreaming, and hell no! It was reality.
“I just want to protect my sister from being harmed, I just want her to be happy, but turned out that I was hurting her instead. I know you Audrey, I know what you’re capable of doing, don’t try shit with my sister, you’ll regret it, if you do.” He said, with seriousness in his voice, while I just stood staring at him, still shocked.
“I’ll let you two be together, but trust me, you’ll have your head rolling on the floor, if anything goes wrong. You know how much I love my sister, and seeing her hurt, is what I can put my life down for, to prevent. If ever she complain to me that you hurt her in the future, just know that I won’t spare you.” He added, and with that, she turned around and walked out of the restaurant, leaving me stunned. What the heck just happened?…
