Chapter 275
Who knew? Maybe, one day, they would be lucky enough to earn Edward's favor and secure a helping hand from Prosper Stitch Group.
As for Simon? He had no character or ability. He was just a shameless parasite latching onto people the moment they became successful.
Even watching him underwent secondhand embarrassment.noveldrama
And the mockery didn't stop there.
"Mr. Fitzgerald, maybe instead of pestering Ms. Smith, you should focus on building something for yourself-like Mr. Moore did through hard work and not by leeching off women."
"You've been harassing Ms. Smith over and over, yet she and Mr. Moore have graciously ignored your behavior. You should take the hint and back off instead of constantly overstepping."
Simon's face turned a deep, sickly red. He felt like he was going to collapse right there.
Janice had never seen Simon look so utterly defeated, but she had no intention of showing him mercy. Because once upon a time-at that wedding-she had been the laughingstock of Greenfield City.
So whatever humiliation she had endured, whatever shame she had suffered standing before him, he was going to taste it all. That was fair.
Janice set her full glass of red wine down on the table. "Mr. Fitzgerald, I assume you want to discuss a business deal with me. Well... If you can chug this entire glass of wine in one go, maybe I'll consider it."
Humiliation?
What had happened before wasn't a humiliation.
This was.
Simon had trampled on her love, dismissed her sacrifices, and mocked her hard work... Worst of all, Jacob had nearly lost his life because of him.
This was just the beginning.
Going bankrupt was simply Simon's misfortune. Janice's revenge had only truly begun the moment she revealed her identity.
Simon stared at her in disbelief. He couldn't wrap his head around Janice humiliating him like this. But after everything he had been through, he wasn't as arrogant as before. He had learned when to swallow his pride.
So, he forced a smile. "If I drink this, we can talk?"
Talk?
A flicker of amusement danced in Janice's eyes—an expression usually seen on men. It was full of condescension and playfulness.
"Yes."
Without hesitation, Simon picked up the glass, frowned, and began drinking. He nearly choked but
forced himself to swallow every net
drop. The burning in his throat was nothing compared to the furoraging inside him.
But it was fine. A real man endured humiliation for the sake of greater things. As long as he could win Janice back, he would have plenty of chances to make her pay later.
He slammed the empty glass down, eyes locked on Janice.
But before he could say a word, Sunny, who had accompanied Janice tonight, immediately refilled the glass to the brim and slid it back in front of him.
The businessmen present-with
their arms crossed and with
amusement in their eyes-watched the scene unfold like prime entertainment. Because even they loved a good spectacle. Besides, these industry veterans-men in their 50s-had built their success through their own efforts.
None of them had relied on women, which was why they found Simon utterly disgraceful.
Sunny smirked. "Mr. Fitzgerald, if you want to talk business, you should at least show some sincerity."
He needed to keep drinking.
What do you think?
