Chapter 50
Sam is a 24-year-old nurse. She finished her education and moved when she got an offer at a very prestigious hospital. It also allowed her to move away from her past and controlling parents.
Sam’s parents are very well off. Her two lifelong best friends moved with her. Raine who’s taking online college classes and Kim who’s a beautician.
This is the beginning of Sam’s story. Sam walked into the hospital and reported to the Emergency Room.
“Hi, I’m Sam. I was told to report here for my first day. I’ve already been through HR.” Sam explained.
“Great! My name is MaKenzie. I’m the head nurse in charge. You’ll be with me until you learn your way around.” Nurse MaKenzie replied.
“Can I ask a question?” Sam asked.
“Shoot.” MaKenzie replied.
“Did I just drop into hot doc zone?” Sam asked.
“I know it’s so crazy! We have a lot of hunky doctors and EMT’s. Nurses ain’t so bad either. I think it’s the pay grade.” MaKenzie replied laughing.
“Amen sister!” Sam laughed.
Sam has been at the hospital for a month now. There’s an EMT that is very hot and sweet. They’ve flirted and he’s acted like he wanted to ask her out but so far hasn’t.
He made it a point to talk to her every time he came into the hospital.
“Hey Nick.” Sam smiled at the EMT.
He’s got black hair and nicely trimmed barely there beard and mustache. Emerald, green eyes that sparkle when he smiles at her.
“Hey Sam. Busy?” Nick asked.
“As usual, you know the ER. So, when are you going to ask me out?” Sam grinned.
Nick stutters for a few seconds. “Well, ah, I ah, I figured you were either taken or already had a ton of guys asking you out. Plus, I’m just an EMT, didn’t figure you’d be interested in me.”
“Really? Why?” Sam asked.
“It’s just that you’re so beautiful and could have any guy you wanted.” Nick replied.
“I don’t do relationships. I do casual dating. Relationships just aren’t my thing. Plus my work schedule is crazy. Not many guys would put up with it.” Sam explained.
“They must be crazy. I think you’re worth it.” Nick replied.
“Aren’t you sweet. Maybe too sweet for me.” Sam smiles.
“So, you’d go out on a date with me if I asked you?” Nick asked.
“Of course I would. Why wouldn’t I? You’re handsome and a great guy.” Sam replied.
“When’s your next day off?” Nick asked.
“I’m off Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.” Sam replied.
“Thursday will work for me. I have the early shift, but late one on Friday and Saturday.” Nick replied.
“Great! Give me your phone.” Sam replied.
Nick gave her his phone and she put her info in it, then took a selfie for the profile picture. Sam handed his phone back to him and he sent her a text.
She takes her phone and snaps a picture of Nick for his contact info in her phone. Just then Dr. Mike walked out of a patient’s room.
“Sam? I need your help with a patient.” He explained.
“Ok Doc, coming. See you later Nick.” Sam said as Nick leaves.
She followed the doctor into the patient’s room. However, there is no patient.
“So, did I hear that you’re going out on a date with that EMT?” Dr. Mike asked.
“Yep.” Sam agreed.
“I figured a gorgeous girl like you already had a boyfriend, or I would have asked.” Dr. Mike replied.
“Nope. Don’t do boyfriends.” Sam explained.
“I see. So, you’re free on Friday and Saturday? Would you care to go out with me either night?” He asked.
“Sure. Give me your phone.” Sam replied. “Friday is good.”
As Sam is putting her info in his phone, she noticed quite a bit of female contacts.
“Hmm, lots of girls already in there.” Sam replied.
“I enjoy women. I like to date a lot. With my schedule most women just can’t handle it. They feel they are second best. And it has to be that way. My job comes first. So, I just casually date.” He explained.
“What about nurses?” Sam asked.
“I’ve dated a few. But it’s usually hard to get any alone time. Most of them are just as busy as me.” He replied.
“So, where’s the patient?” Sam grinned.
“Ah, I just wanted to get you alone to ask you out. Didn’t want to miss my chance.” He grinned back.
“You sly devil!” Sam laughed.
They walked out of the room into the hall.
“But now I am late for a meeting. See you later Nurse Sam.” He smirked.
“Later doc.” Sam replied.
“OMG are you kidding me? You got a date with the hot shy EMT and Dr. Mike?” MaKenzie asked coming up behind Sam making her jump.
“Shit! You scared me! And yes, I do.” Sam smiled.
“You are going to be the envy of the hospital. Many have tried with Nick, but he turned them all down.” Makenzie replied.
“And Dr. Mike?” Sam asked.
“Hate to say it, but he has been around several a couple of times. He’s hot and he knows it. He’s a great guy, don’t get me wrong, but he’s a man whore.” Makenzie laughed.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“My kind of guy. I’m the same way.” Sam laughed.
“Really? Why?” Makenzie asked.
“Long story, you due a break?” Sam asked.
“Yeah.” She agreed.
“Let’s get a snack and I’ll tell you why.” Sam explained.
They went to the nurses’ station to let them know they are going on break and then go to the cafeteria.
“Ok spill.” Makenzie replied.
“I must warn you, it’s a tragic story.” Sam replied.
“Ok. I’m listening.” Makenzie replied.
“My parents are extraordinarily rich. Like socially well off as well. Like snobby rich. I have an older sister who is two years older than me. She was beautiful inside and out.” Sam explained.
“She was a little overweight, but not like majorly. Only a size 16. So, she had some meat on her bones but not grossly overweight. However, it made her very shy and self-conscious of her body.” She continued.
“She had a crush on a guy named Charles. His parents were snobby rich people too. Some CEO of some corporation. He was good looking; I’ll give him that.” Sam’s face scrunched up.
“But he was not a nice man. And way wrong for my sister. But she fell in love with him anyway.” Sam explained.
“Oh God. I hope this isn’t going where I think it is.” Makenzie interrupted.
