Chapter 1182: The Flower of the Stranger (3)
On the 26th, Micaela took Malia and Hud and returned home with Nico.
It has been almost a year since we left The Holy City, and Bernardo received word from somewhere that Micaela was coming home today and drove his car to pick him up.
Nico inexplicably erected a love interest.
Bernardo helped carry the luggage and acted as driver before and after, and was extremely attentive.
Micaela’s house is on a different road from Nico’s Villa Moon Lake Road, in the opposite direction.
Micaela and her group left for home with Bernardo’s car before Campoverde , who had come to pick them up, arrived.
As Campoverde approached the airport entrance, he saw Nico alone with his pockets full, kicking his leather shoes.
“Mr. Nico, where is the lady?”
Nico plucked him coldly and said with little kindness, “I thought you were stepping on ants, why don’t you come later and my wife will go with someone.”
Campoverde winced and smiled awkwardly, “Too much traffic on the road, too much traffic on the road, my pot, next time I’ll be sure to speed up.”
Nico gave a blank stare and frowned in annoyance as he climbed into the car. “Let’s go back to the office first.”
“Yes.”
…
The news of Micaela’s return was spread by who knows who and went viral among her circle of friends.
Micaela has just arrived home and is inundated with phone calls, all of them gossiping about her and Nico.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
Surely it was Mateo’s boy who spread the word and even Adam, an unusual visitor, called her.
“Why does President Adam have time to call me, isn’t his wife jealous?”
Adam, on the other end of the line, raised an eyebrow and said, “It’s the old jealousy. You’re Paulita’s godmother and Paulita knows you’re back in La Ciudad Santa and is clamoring to see you, so if Mrs. Amengual is free, do me the honor of coming to dinner at my house.”
“Mrs. Amengual? President Adam, you are misinformed, I am no longer Mrs. Amengual. Nico and I are, for now, just friends.”
“Sooner or later, yes. You’re back and I don’t think Nico will let you run again.” Adam said, “Let’s do it tomorrow, come eat at my place.”
“Okay.”
Micaela agreed.
Probably the first step in returning to familiar surroundings is to meet friends for dinner.
The Bayside hadn’t been lived in for a long time and Micaela and Malia cleaned it half a day.
While sorting through drawers, Micaela saw a picture of her and Nico taken many years ago.
Micaela picked up the picture that was in the drawer and put it back on the table.
The sun is scattered and enveloping, all soft and warm.
Malia looked at her, smiled as she cleaned up and said, “You’ve always been a child of ideas, so when you decided to divorce Nico, Grandma couldn’t say anything else. However, people can’t be perfect in life, they will always make mistakes, and if they can change their ways, that’s the best thing they can do. Letting nature take its course is the best decision.”
“In fact, when I officially divorced him, I didn’t hate him anymore, I just felt that after two people had reached that point, there was no need to continue, but I kept uncovering the scars and touching that wound. I have been thinking about this a lot for almost the whole year, and I keep telling myself that he and I are not right for each other, that we will always hurt each other, and that I am so tired of loving him, but I can’t help but secretly hide it from everyone and love him again for a long, long time. I don’t know if this time I’m repeating the same mistake or breaking the mirror with him, but I suddenly realize that it doesn’t seem to matter if I’m repeating the same mistake or breaking the mirror as long as it’s him.”
Malia picked up her phone and held the voice recording of her WhatsApp chat screen with Nico until Micaela’s words dropped and Malia simply let go of her fingers.
Micaela’s voice string was then sent word for word to Nico.
…
Nico had just returned home, a period that had put a mountain of business and jobs on hold that hadn’t been processed and approved.
When he arrived at the group, he had Campoverde call the top executives into the conference room to prepare for the stage meeting.
The meeting came to a standstill when Nico asked a series of pertinent questions that sent some executives into a panic.
A WhatsApp popped up on my phone.
Nico was about to put his phone on silent mode when he looked at the screen and saw it was Malia’s voice.
I’m afraid it has to do with Micaela.
Nico then tapped directly on that WhatsApp and the voice turned to text.
Nico was stunned for a long time when the string of words, shown as text, appeared on the screen.
A couple of executives on the other side of the table, thinking something had gone terribly wrong in the business, cautiously tried, “President Nico?”
Nico grabbed his phone and shot up.
“…”
The senior managers looked at each other, what was the situation?
Nico suddenly said, “You guys continue the discussion, I’m going to listen to a voice-over.”
Voice? What voice at this moment? Whose voice is it? Is the meeting important?
Leaving the stunned executives behind, Nico walked out of the conference room with his phone in hand and turned to go straight into the building.
In the hallway, he replayed that voice, phone pressed to his ear, listening to it over and over again.
Infinite loop.
And take that voice and click on Favorites.
That afternoon, Nico took up smoking again, smoking a small ashtray.
But not in a depressed way, but in a happy way.
He can’t even sit still without a cigarette to calm the excitement.
He listened attentively to every word of Micaela no less than a hundred times.
She said that then she loved him secretly for a long, long time, hiding it from everyone.
She also said that it didn’t matter if this time it was a repeat or a broken mirror, as long as that person was him.
Nico was overwhelmed with emotion, a heart, alive and fierce, leaping.
But this time, how could he let her repeat the same mistake? He could play him to death, as long as, she was happy.
Throughout the afternoon, Nico felt as if he had drunk dozens of times more espresso, his heart pounding to the point of leaping out of his chest.
She hated that voice, posted on Facebook.
Dejected, she tells everyone, look, Micaela loves me, and no matter how many more suitable people appear around her, she only loves him, from start to finish.
But you can’t send voice to your friends.
Nico simply kept that voice, as if it were a treasure, private.
…
When Nico finished the task at hand, he received a call from Adam.
Adam asked, “Are you free to come to my house for a casual lunch tomorrow?”.
Nico said no, “I’m not available, I have a lot of work lately.”
Even if he were free, he would have to see Micaela and wouldn’t have time to go to La Villa Rouco to make a scene.
“Oh, really? That’s a shame, Micaela is coming to eat at my house tomorrow and I was thinking of, well, getting you guys organized … I seem to be getting ahead of myself.”
Nico’s eyes lit up and he said, “Adam, I love it when you make up your mind, you’re good to make up your mind a few more times and I’m sure I’ll thank you for it, bro.”
“No, no, no, no, don’t confess, I don’t like men.”
“If I could like you, what’s the use Star, you’d be in my pocket by now. Don’t be silly, go get your girl, I have to go get Micaela. ”
“I don’t think Micaela has forgiven you yet, for all I know, you’re up for abuse.”
Nico grabbed his chin and said with a straight face, “I’m a masochist with jitterbug/M tendencies, it’s the only thing I’m good at, so I don’t need you to care.”
