Chapter 1106
Connor was the kind of guy who could cut through chaos like a hot knife through butter-handling business deals, flexing his authority at the office, or untangling ancient messes with the same sharp decisiveness. Problems that had been giving Pax headaches for months? Connor sorted them out with a couple of phone calls, easy as pie.
Pax let out a long sigh. "Turns out being a CEO actually takes talent. I work myself to the bone every day, always on edge, and then Uncle Connor just breezes in and fixes everything without breaking a sweat. Honestly, it's a little soul-crushing."
Isaac patted his shoulder in sympathy. "Hey, you're not the only one feeling a little inadequate."
So, Pax and Isaac basically threw up their hands and went back to running their own companies, not even bothering to show up at Sartori Tower anymore.
Not that Isaac didn't have things going on. In fact, he'd just gotten engaged-she said yes-and was now deep into wedding planning. He was finally about to marry the woman he'd loved for so long.noveldrama
Taylor was a different person these days. After everything that had happened, she wasn't the wild, spoiled heiress she used to be. She'd mellowed out, become more gentle, and had even started working.
She'd studied law and was now interning at He & Associates, a respected law firm. Her very first case? Her own brother's.
Grant had woken up a while back, and with his mentor's care, he was back on his feet within six months. But then came the reckoning.
He went to the police and confessed to everything-every law he'd broken over the years. He didn't seem to have any fight left in him, almost like he wanted to go to prison.
Luckily, Hank had kept a notebook
where he'd written down every crime he'd ever committed. The police already had it, so when Grant confessed, it turned out he'd mostly been an accomplice or forced into things. Even Suzanne's death, which everyone had blamed on Grant, was really Hank's doing.
In the end, Grant was found guilty on several charges, but since he wasn't the
mastermind, he was sentenced to just three years.
Before he went to prison, Grant
transferred all his shares in QUEEN Group to Chloe. But Chloe didn't want them. As much as she loved jewelrydesign, her real passion was making fragrances. She'd already decided to open her own studio, launch her own scent brand, and let her dreams grow at their own pace.
Whether her business would ever become huge didn't matter to Chloe. She just wanted to savor every moment at work, with family, in life.
So she turned around and gave the QUEEN shares to Taylor as a wedding gift. After all, QUEEN was Grant's baby. Chloe had never run the place; she was always just the designer.
Taylor and Isaac's wedding was shaping up to be a huge event. Thanks to wall-to- wall media coverage, everyone in high society knew about it, and the whole city was buzzing about the upcoming "wedding of the century."
Once Chloe had prepared her gift, she didn't pay much attention to all the hype. Tara's birthday was coming up, and Chloe planned to head back to Riverbrook for a visit.
Her relationship with Lucas had been a mess, but Tara had always been there for her, protecting Chloe like her own daughter. In Chloe's heart, Tara was family.
The Moncada family had even agreed to let Aaron live with her—a huge sacrifice, and Chloe knew it.
Tara absolutely adored Summer, always calling Aaron just to hear about her. So Chloe decided to bring Summer along for the trip, planning to spend a few days in Riverbrook and give Marian a little comfort from missing her daughter.
