Chapter 566
Chapter 566
Chloe decided she wouldn't meddle anymore in whether Lucas continued taking the medication. She just needed to clear her conscience. But when Lucas heard her, his face turned as pale as a ghost.
Chloe was about to make her exit when Lucas grabbed her arm. "What did you just say? This is heart medication?"
Chloe nodded. "I found it in Linda's drawer. Since she's pregnant, I was curious about what meds she was on. So, I asked a doctor friend to check it out. The side effects are pretty serious, you know..."
With a knowing smirk, Chloe added, "Lucas, you seriously didn't know about this, did you?"
Lucas's shocked expression said it all he had no clue about the medication's side effects.
Chloe was puzzled. Why on earth would he be taking something with such severe side effects when he didn't have heart issues? With a mix of sympathy and curiosity, she gave Lucas a once-over, her lips curling into a teasing smile. "So, Lucas, everything all good with you?"
Lucas was livid. He snatched up the medication and stormed inside the house.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
Chloe was left scratching her head. There had to be some juicy drama between him and Linda. Though her inner gossip was itching to know more, it was late, and she didn't want to stir up any more trouble. Reluctantly, she drove away from the Moncada place.
Just as Chloe's car disappeared down the street, Lucas kicked open the door to Linda's room upstairs. "Linda, get out here!"
Linda was at her vanity. She'd already noticed someone had rummaged through her drawer, and something was missing. Hearing the commotion at the door, she spun around to see Lucas charging in, fury written all over his face. He tossed a jar of pills at her feet. "Linda, what have you been giving me?"
Linda glanced down at the jar-it was the one missing from her drawer. So Chloe had taken it and spilled the beans to Lucas?
Linda picked up the jar, her face a picture of innocence. "Why are you so worked up? What did Chloe tell you?"
In the past Linda's innocent act would tug at Lucas's heartstrings, making him feel like she was someone he needed to protect. But now he saw through her facade.
"Linda, what is this medication?" Lucas demanded, his voice as cold as ice.
Linda clung to a shred of hope. "Luca, you know what this is, right? It's for your treatment."
"Is it really for my treatment, or is it why I've been... not myself?"
The realization hit Lucas like a ton of bricks. He hadn't had any issues before-there were times he'd felt full of vigor and life. Especially when he first dated Chloe, he remembered feeling his blood pumping. But then, out of the blue, everything changed.
Lucas had chalked it up to too much self-repression, thinking he'd developed a condition. But now the truth was clear—it was Linda's doing all along.
"Do you just take Chloe's word for everything?" Linda shot back. "I'm your wife. You should trust me, not her. She's not even an ex-wife!"
Lucas looked at Linda, feeling a chill spread through his heart. He used to see her as gentle and understanding, but now he saw her as selfish, vain, and downright despicable. If she'd been drugging him for three years, she was truly cunning and malicious.
"Linda, the meds are right here. I can have them tested any time. Lying won't do you any good, so you'd better come clean."
