Chapter 86
Zachary placed a tube of ointment on the table. It looked like it had already been used.
"I didn't bring much with me. Julian asked around and got this from someone else," he said.
After all, no one had thought a short trip would end with Natasha twisting her ankle. Fortunately, it wasn't serious. Natasha figured a few days of rest would do the trick.
"I'm a little curious, Mr. Foster. Why do you care so much about me?" Natasha could no longer hold back the question.
Ever since she learned about everything Zachary had done to help her behind the scenes, she had been wondering.noveldrama
He was the one who provided the surveillance footage from the Molly and Nicole incident, and he was also the one who brought Rory in. Though all of it happened to her, Natasha had no solid evidence to defend herself when doubts arose.
However, Zachary always handled it with ease. It was as if he had been watching over her all along.
In the beginning, Natasha was shocked by the idea alone.
Zachary wasn't some ordinary guy. Even if he had feelings for someone, it definitely wouldn't be her. So the only reason left was that he was showing her pity.
Before Zachary could offer any explanation, Natasha quickly said, "Don't worry. I've long made peace with what happened with Matthew. You don't owe me a thing."
Caught off guard by Natasha's candid words, Zachary found himself at a loss for words.
After a pause, he responded, "Ms. Bradley, do you really have so little confidence in your own charm?"
Natasha kept her head down and was unsure how to respond. She never expected that kind of answer from him.
"What do you mean, Mr. Foster?" she asked nervously.
When she was with Matthew, she never took the initiative with any man she didn't know. Hence, the
way her heart pounded so wildet
now fett both strange and
exhilarating, making her breath
catch in her chest.
"Ms. Bradley, you're a smart woman. You can't possibly not understand what I mean. But regardless of the reason, everything I've done wasn't to get something in return," Zachary replied.
His words made Natasha pause. He was a businessman, someone who placed value on returns above all else. Yet, he had invested time and effort in her without asking for anything in return.
A gut feeling told Natasha that things given freely were often the most expensive of all.
"Mr. Foster, is there anything you'd like me to do?" she asked.
Even though he said he didn't expect anything in return, Natasha didn't believe it could be that simple. Perhaps what he wanted wasn't something she could easily give.
"Well, since you've asked, I'll be honest. Would you mind being friends with me?" Zachary raised an eyebrow as he spoke.
Natasha hadn't expected someone with such a striking face to say something like that to her. She felt flattered and excited but also a bit uneasy.
She immediately said, "Of course. It would be my honor to be friends with someone like you, Mr. Foster."
Although Natasha didn't mean every word from the bottom of her heart, agreeing a simple friendship wasn't exactly a big deal considering how much Zachary had done for her.
Zachary chuckled at her response. "Well then, could you unblock me on Instagram?"
It was something he hadn't forgotten. He'd been checking her posts through Julian's phone all the time.
"Ah, sorry. It's just a habit when I add people." Natasha finally realized.
What do you think?
