Chapter 450 Choosing the Path I Wanted to Take

Looking at his crimson eyes, almost on the verge of collapse, my heart ached terribly. I wanted to tell

him, no, having escaped death, I wanted more than anyone to throw myself into his arms, hold him

tightly, and tell him everything was over. We must hold each other’s hands tightly in the future and

never let go.

Things might not always go as planned.

His path, I ultimately couldn’t walk along anymore.

Suppressing the bitterness in my heart, I held back all my emotions and looked at him, saying, “Walter,

I can’t repay what I owe you, but I sincerely wish you well. I hope you will have a beautiful wife and a

son in the future, and that half of your life will be smooth and satisfying, free from disasters and

difficulties.”

Having said that, I stood up, ready to leave.

My wrist was seized by him, perhaps he was too angry, the powerful force made my wrist ache terribly.

I pursed my lips, enduring the pain as I looked at him.

His lips turned pale, the anger in his dark eyes almost surging out. After a long while, he squeezed out

a few words from his mouth, “To get a gentle wife, to have a son?”

He squinted his dark eyes, looking at me, and mocked, “Who is the delicate wife? Who is Lin’er?

Marjorie, is it?”

Seeing his reaction, I slightly furrowed my brows. Hadn’t he already admitted to having encountered

Marjorie before? Why was he reacting like this now?

Seeing me silent, he sneered, “Tabatha, what are you trying to do by pushing me to her? Go find Ezra

again?”

Watching him like this, I knew, he was thoroughly angry. I couldn’t help but sigh slightly. I originally

wanted to say goodbye properly, but it seemed I still couldn’t get my wish.

Continuing the conversation would likely only lead to a fight, which I didn’t want with him. I looked at his

large hand, gripping my wrist tightly, and said hoarsely, “Walter, you’re hurting me.”

His face changed, realizing what he had done, he instinctively let go of me. His handsome face, for

once, showed a flustered expression. He spoke slowly, “I… didn’t mean to.”

Of course, I knew he didn’t do it on purpose, and I had no intention of blaming him. I just didn’t want to

dwell on it. I calmly said, “It’s okay!” Then I turned around and left.

“Tabatha!” His voice didn’t make me stop, even if I had, I wouldn’t have known what else to say to him.

I faintly heard the sound of something being knocked over behind me, along with his muffled groan of

pain. I held back and ultimately didn’t turn around to look. I figured he must have been trying to chase

after me, but his body hadn’t recovered, so in his panic, he ended up hurting himself even more.

Outside the teahouse, Roy was waiting. Seeing me come out, he looked at me with a face full of

confusion.

I didn’t say much, just said, “Go check on him and get him to the hospital as soon as possible.”

Upon hearing this, Roy panicked. Without uttering a single word, he

rushed in.

Watching Walter being led away by Roy from a distance, I returned to Alexander’s place in a daze.

Alexander seemed very busy, always leaving early and coming back late. I didn’t have many

opportunities to chat with him. On the rare occasions that we did meet, he would talk to me about

company matters, or occasionally ask about my future plans.

What could I plan, now that this city was getting farther and farther away from me, I could no longer

stay.

I couldn’t elaborate on my plans to him, I just brushed him off with a few words.

My own path, I still had to walk it myself.

Arriving at the police station and seeing me, Stanley was a bit surprised. But after a moment, he said,

“Ms. Conner, what brings you here? I’ve been meaning to talk to you about something recently.”

Following his words, I asked, “What happened?”

He paused for a moment, pulled me into his office, then had me sit in front of the computer, and played

a video for me. Seeing Elliott’s image, I understood in an instant, looking at him, I asked, “Is this

something Elliott wanted me to have?”

He nodded.

At this, I slightly furrowed my brow, “Did he obtain Warren’s evidence while lurking at the border?”

He shook his head, saying, “This isn’t it. Those pieces of evidence are confidential. I can’t just show

them to you. They’ve already been taken away by the higher-ups. What I’m showing you isn’t it.”

I was confused, but under his guidance, I still carefully watched

Elliott’s video. The video was a monologue by Elliott. In the video, the environment around him was

dim, looking like a place where he had lived before.

He must have recorded it on his phone, with a duration of about ten minutes. In the video, he narrated

how he had moved around to the border after leaving River City ten years ago, encountered accidents

at the border, and met Michael, an inland man who was a small leader under Warren, during several

transfers. He also described how he had formed a deep friendship with Michael through several life and

death experiences.
