Chapter 35: Kiss me and I’ll give it to you
On the way back, neither of them spoke.
Allyce leaned against the window. The light from the street lamp shone on her pale face through the window. She looked very tired.
Severo looked at her but said nothing, concentrating on driving. Finally, in the car park of the flat, they both got out of the car.
When they entered the room, Allyce sat on the sofa as if she had lost her soul.
Severo watched her reaction in silence and then went to change his clothes. When he came out, he saw that Allyce was still sitting on the couch, so he went and sat down opposite her.
“We haven’t had dinner yet. What would you like to eat?”
His voice was soft and gentle, as if he would never lose his temper.
Allyce looked at him in a daze, and seemed lost. I want something really spicy.
“You can’t eat spicy things right now.” She reached up and gently stroked the bandage on his head: “You still have a cut on your head, so you’ll have to wait until it heals.
“Oh, whatever you want then.” Allyce lifted her feet and rested her chin on her knees, curling into a ball.
Severo thought for a moment, then reached out his hand and lifted her to her feet. I’m going to make dinner now. If you help me, we can have dinner soon.
Allyce nodded, “Okay.”
They entered the kitchen.
When Severo asked Allyce to bring him the ingredients, she immediately handed them over. When he asked her to bring the dishes, she brought them to him.
An order, an action.
Severo raised his eyes to her lifeless gaze and said patiently: “Bring me a plate, wash it and dry it.
“Oh.” Allyce replied and stood on her tiptoes to get a plate out of the cupboard.
Once the ingredients were ready, Severo looked around and found her on tiptoe reaching for the plate. He comes up behind her, reaches over her with his long arm outstretched and pulls out the plate.
Then he offered it to her: “Wash it and give it to me”.
Allyce nodded and reached out to take the plate from his hand.
Severo pulled his arm away and there was a mocking smile in his deep-set eyes. Kiss me and I’ll give it to you.
“You …” Allyce froze for a moment, then narrowed her eyes and stomped her foot mercilessly.” Well, here’s your kiss.”ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Severo hissed in pain. He set the plate down on the counter and rested his hands on the counter behind her, kissing her hard.
…
Although it was a light dinner, it took longer than usual to cook.
They sat opposite each other at the table.
Severo was very hungry. He always ate regularly, but today it was late.
“Try this.” Severo suddenly put a piece of carrot on Allyce’s plate.
Allyce popped it in her mouth without thinking. Then she spat it out and looked at Severo: “Why did you give me a carrot?
He hated carrots.
Severo shook his head: “Eating carrots is good for the eyes.
“My eyes are fine now.” Allyce’s mouth curved into a smile and she continued eating.
But this time he ate a little faster and with more vigour.
After the meal, Severo did not let her do the dishes and told her to take a shower.
Thirty minutes later, Allyce came out of the bathroom. Just as she turned off the kitchen light, Severo approached.
Allyce suddenly felt it was inconvenient to knock down all the walls of the flat in this way. It felt strange.
But the culprit who had brought down his house was already in the bathroom.
…
In the middle of the night, Severo was awakened by Allyce’s crying.
At first, it was just a quiet sob, but then it became a moan, and then a continuous cry.
Severo reached over to turn on the light, but stopped in mid-sentence to think about something.
“Allyce,” he reached out and caressed Allyce’s shoulder, hugging her tightly.
These two had been sleeping together for a long time, but they only slept under the same sheets and did nothing else.
Allyce is still crying and Severo tries to hug her, but accidentally touches her head wound and wakes her up.
Allyce stops crying. The room was dark, but she could feel two eyes staring at her.
Pushing the sheets aside, he shifted his position so that they wouldn’t touch his wound. I’m sorry I woke you up.
Severo’s emotional voice rang out in the darkness: “It’s not like you to be apologising all the time, being as weak as a rabbit”.
Even when he called Allyce a weak bunny, she didn’t react; she calmed down as if she was going to sleep.
Severo broke the silence: “If you don’t believe me, why did you go with me?
“I don’t disbelieve you.
He simply did not trust Severo’s ability to find the prison where his father was, if his family was deliberately hiding him.
“Then why didn’t you say anything to me?” Severo poked at the most secret place in his heart and Allyce couldn’t argue with him.
Severo clenched his fist slightly and waited for his response.
Allyce bit her lip in the dark. She had never spoken of her father.
Perhaps the darkness made people feel alone and vulnerable, and Allyce whispered: “My father was a very kind man. I never thought he would do anything like that, he loved my mother very much, even though I never knew her”.
His thin voice spilled out into the night, whose vulnerability had nowhere to hide.
I don’t know if it was the influence of Allyce’s emotions or the heaviness of the subject matter, but Severo’s voice seemed to suppress emotions similar to Allyce’s.” What did he do?”
“He killed someone by accident.
Allyce summed it up simply, but in his memory, the others had a longer explanation for his father’s imprisonment.
“They say my father abused the woman, but she resisted and fell into the void in an argument with my father …”
Allyce paused and then continued with difficulty: “But my father loved my mother very much, he was very gentle, he would never have done anything like that …”.
“How old were you then?”
“Nine years. Because he was too young to do more than watch his father being sent to prison.
All these years later, all he had hoped for was to see his father again. As for the verdict, he never questioned it too much.
After a long while, Severo’s faint voice came out: “You were only nine years old then. Are you sure you were right?”
Allyce said firmly, “I’m sure”.
After this, they stopped talking.
Perhaps because she had finally spilled the secret she had hidden for years, Allyce lay back on the bed, feeling Severo’s breathing next to her. It didn’t take her long to fall asleep.
However, Severo got out of bed when she fell asleep. He went to the window furthest from the bed and dialled a number on his mobile phone.
“Check again about Orlin Delahoz. I suspect that someone has deliberately influenced something …”
