Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 1436

"Sure thing."

Tyler quickly grabbed a takeout container, packing up both the porridge and dumplings. In his haste, he packed his own portion too, which made Fiona shake her head with a mix of amusement and exasperation, prompting her to tell him to leave some out for himself. Just as she was sorting it out, Jackson pulled up, and Fiona headed out with the takeout box in hand.

Jackson's car was parked right outside the apartment. He was still in the driver's seat, casually resting one arm on the car door, his fingers tapping away idly. His hands were exceptionally striking-nails neatly trimmed, fingers long and well-defined, with tendons that gave his hand a sculpted look, akin to polished marble. It was hard to look away.

Fiona had a weakness for a handsome face, and even more so for beautiful hands. She licked her cheek, eyes fixed on his hand as she slowly made her way over.

Seeing her approach, Jackson got out and opened the car door for her. His gaze flickered momentarily up to the second-floor balcony of the apartment.

"Have you had breakfast? I brought you something to eat."

Once Fiona was settled in, Jackson handed her a bag. It was still pretty early, and knowing her usual routine, he guessed she hadn't eaten yet. He'd made sure the chef prepared something special. "I already ate."

Already? Jackson's brow furrowed slightly.

Fiona blinked at him, though she accepted the bag and gave it a sniff. It smelled alright, but it couldn't quite match Tyler's cooking.

"Hey, I brought you breakfast too."

Fiona handed over the takeout box. "Try this; it's really good. I had a bunch this morning."

Jackson's gaze deepened as he looked at the takeout box. She'd just come from the apartment, and she wasn't the type to wake up early to cook. It was pretty clear who'd made it.

Well, breakfast was already being handled. Good thing he'd had that guy move out. Young hearts and all-didn't need them getting tangled up too soon.

Still, the fact that she thought to bring him some was touching. Shouldn't he be a little moved?

Jackson chuckled softly.

"What's so funny?" Fiona asked, puzzled.

"You're too thoughtful-you've got your big brother all choked up."

Jackson grinned, reaching out with three fingers to take the box. He wasn't about to waste her gesture, so he opened it and picked up a dumpling, taking a bite unde her watchful eye. en

It was indeed tasty. Since she liked it, he'd have the chef whip up something similar.

...

Jackson dropped Fiona off at the hospital entrance.

"Alright, off you go."

He leaned over to unbuckle her seatbelt. "Call if you need anything." "Got it."

Fiona nodded, holding her breath a little. When Jackson had leaned in, she'd caught a hint of a refreshing pine scent from him. This guy was something else, through and through.

"I'll head in then," she said, casually.

"Let me know when you're done, and I'll swing by to get you."

"Always on standby, huh?" Fiona blinked, turning to look at him, her eyes tracing his sharp profile before settling on his pronounced Adam's apple. noveldrama

"If you call, I'll be there, no doubt."

Jackson's lips curled into a teasing smile, giving her a playful pat on the head. "Alright, kiddo, time to hop out." Kiddo. Really?

She wasn't a kid anymore. Fiona rolled her eyes, opened the car door, and made her way toward the hospital. Jackson watched her until she disappeared through the hospital doors before driving off.
