Chapter 1455
"Cough."
Henrik, feeling a bit awkward himself, cleared his throat softly. Meanwhile, his phone kept ringing with the unmistakable ringtone announcing, "Call from your wife, call from your wife-"
Fiona, looking like she had seen this all before, was ready for the inevitable bit of embarrassment. She was used to it.
"Uncle, you should pick up, you-"
Before Fiona could finish, Henrik eagerly hit the answer button. Worried Fiona might overhear, he thought about using earphones but realized in his hurry he had left them behind.
"Hey, honey-"
A voice full of complaint came from the other end.
"What's up?"
Henrik's voice automatically softened.
"I'm freezing over here," Cecelia's voice sounded muffled. "It's terrible, the heating just cut out, and now it's like an icebox in here."noveldrama
"Didn't I tell you not to sign up for that show?"
Henrik tried to keep his concern in check, his tone still firm. The show was being filmed in some small
towns where the facilities weren't as good as in the city. Cecelia had insisted on going, and now she was paying the price.
"You did say that..."
Cecelia's voice was still muffled, "But I'm really cold."
She came from a tough background and had faced many challenges growing up. Now that she had the means, she wanted to help kids in need. Joining this show was her way of supporting children in remote
areas.
Henrik's heart melted instantly.
"Send me your location, and I'll have someone bring you some supplies."
Cecelia quickly rattled off an address.
Henrik looked up the area and said, "Hang tight, in twenty minutes, someone will drop by with what you need."
"You're the best, darling!"
Cecelia's voice was bright, with a playful tone that made even Fiona feel a bit warm inside. Cecelia
wasn't usually the type to act all cutesy She wasn't like Flora, who could effortlessly charm Connor.
But Henrik's unwavering love over the years had made her his little princess. She could act like a little girl too.
Henrik's ears turned slightly red, especially with Fiona still in the car. Being affectionate in front of his niece made him a bit bashful.
"Sweetheart, because of the
weather, we're pausing filming for three days. I've got nothing to do, and they won't let us leave. Would you come keep me company?"
Henrik was steering with one hand, still a bit peeved.
Wouldn't it be too much to just give in and go over there? Wouldn't it be embarrassing?
"Do you see why I was upset?" he asked, trying to maintain a calm tone.
"Yeah, I was wrong..." Cecelia quickly admitted, a hint of playfulness in her voice.
Henrik's frown softened. "Alright, I'll fly over tomorrow morning. Send me a list of what you need, and I'll bring it."
Fiona smirked and shook her head. "Uncle, didn't you just say you were going to be tougher?"
She whispered teasingly.
Just like her dad, her uncle couldn't say no to his wife. He had no say when it came to her.
Her voice was soft, but the phone's mic picked it up all too well, and Cecelia caught it, "Hmm? Is there a girl's voice I hear?"
"It's Fiona, don't get the wrong idea."
Before Cecelia could respond, Henrik quickly clarified, worried she might misunderstand.
"Oh, it's Fiona! Fiona, how are you finding Cedarvale? No one's giving our favorite girl a hard time, right?"
Cecelia was delighted to hear it was Fiona, and she didn't misunderstand. After all these years together, she was very sure of Henrik's love for her and felt secure.
"Aunt Cecelia."
Fiona smiled and greeted her with warmth.
What do you think?
