Chapter 26 He Had Seen Through It
Chapter 26 He Had Seen Through It
Sadie was startled and her back was covered with cold sweat but she maintained a calm expression,
“I’m just feeling unwell from the cold. What made you think that I’m sad?”
Julian looked profoundly at her and hugged her without warning, “Lean onto me and rest for a moment
if you’re feeling unwell. We are a married couple after all.”
Sadie lowered her head and rolled her eyes in a position that he couldn’t see. Fuck the married bullshit.
He was taking advantage of her for not understanding English. One of these days she wanted him to
know that there was a price to pay for bullying her!
She closed her eyes as she was forced into his broad chest and listened to the sound of his strong
heartbeat which almost drummed her to sleep.
She suddenly recalled the familiarity of that feeling like she had fallen asleep in his embrace a long
long time ago…
She started to get drowsy and fell asleep. When she woke up, the car had already stopped near the
villa. The surrounding area outside the car was dark and dimly lit by moonlight. Sadie laid in a trance
momentarily in the embrace of Julian.
The backseat wasn’t spacious and was just nice for him. It was obvious that the space was insufficient
with her squeezed in but he maintained the same position throughout and didn’t move a bit.
He must have had some secret reasons for choosing her to be his wife. With his abilities, he could
have found any kind of woman he wanted.
“We’re home.” Julian lowered his head to kiss her. He struggled slightly to position himself to get out of
the car.
Sadie yawned and also got out of the car. Just as she stood up, he suddenly bent over to carry her up
and walked in large strides into the villa.
“Are you trying to scare me to death?” Sadie was shocked awake at this point and instinctively held
onto his arm.
Did he have some fetish? Why did he like to carry her so much?
After reaching the second floor, he placed her onto a chair and turned to grin at her, “I’ll prepare the
water and we’ll have a bath together.”
“I’ll wash on my own!” Sadie stood up angrily and her eyes were filled with rage, “Mind your own
business!”
“This is what married partners do together.” Julian grinned. His dashing features and profound eyes hid
his displeasure, “What’s the big deal?”
“Mr. Mccarthy, you should seek treatment if you are unwell. Please don’t give up on the treatment.”
Sadie retorted and turned her head. When they signed the contract, it was agreed that it was all for
show. How things had changed in just a few days.
Julian lowered his head and used his finger to tilt up her chin. His expression revealed that he was up
to something, “My illness can only be cured by you.”
He lowered his head slightly and saw clearly the anxiety and panic in her eyes. He grinned
unnoticeably. It looked like she was genuinely terrified and would escape if he were to push her any
further.
“What do you mean?” Sadie totally didn’t understand what he meant.
“If you continue like that, you’ll only make me…” Julian took out his other hand from his pocket and
held her waist firmly. He then gently laughed and said into her ears, “You’re making me hungry for you.”
Sadie reacted and instinctively pushed him away with her hands. She glared at him in surprise and
fury, “Pervert!”
Julian narrowed his attractive eyes and low laughter reverberated from his throat, “I’m your husband,
how can I be a pervert?”
It was so amusing when that girl got angry!
“I’m going for a shower. You are not to enter and we will sleep separately tonight!” Sadie was terrified
that he got uncontrollably aroused and warned angrily, “I only agreed to put up an act with you and not
to become your wife!”
After she said, she quickly turned and rushed towards the bathroom and slammed the door shut.
Scoundrel, rascal! Sadie cussed and leaned against the door and patted her chest to calm herself
down. How was she to live the days ahead? She had no clue what her fate will be and could be
sexually assaulted by him at any moment.
She walked in a daze towards the mirror and looked at herself in the mirror and started to frown deeply. Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
She had shot herself in the foot. It wouldn’t be wise to terminate the agreement now. What if Julian
were to demolish the welfare home? After these six years, she had already considered that place to be
her home and also cherished all the naïve and innocent brothers and sisters.
She closed her eyes after much consideration and turned off the bathtub tap and mechanically took off
her clothes. It appeared that she didn’t have any other choice except to continue down this path.
She stepped into the bathtub and submerged herself and closed her eyes. The warm water rose and
she thought about the way Julian treated her. It felt like he knew a lot about her and yet appeared not to
understand her.
But she knew one thing which was he wasn’t someone that she could antagonize.
Although they had not been together for long, he looked terrifying when he got angry. This was in a
casual condition that he got angry. It was unimaginable how he looked like when he was angry at work.
Julian looked at his phone for a while and then pursed his lips and left the room.
He went to the study room and looked for Khalid’s number. He loosened his necktie elegantly and sat
next to the panel window, “Why did the Chambers family member go over? What was Cayden’s
reaction to it?”
“Nothing in particular. But he wanted me to remind you not to forget this year’s medical checkup.”
Khalid said calmly, “There isn’t any progress with regards to Lady Sadie. I’ll follow up immediately if
there is.”
“No hurry. It had been more than six years already. Take your time to investigate. Leave no stones
unturned.” Julian said softly and then changed the subject to talk about company matters.
He had been there for a month and was busy with that girl and almost neglected his work.
“I’ve already arranged for Caleb’s air ticket, hotel, and conference room. Once he gets over his jet lag,
we can begin to negotiate the details of our cooperation.” Khalid changed his tone and softly reminded,
“The Read family also socialized with him these couple of days.”
“Apart from his team, I remember that there is another company in Britain whose skills are comparable
with them.” Julian raised his eyebrow, “Let the Read family have it if they are interested. But you can
begin the takeover process. The companies within the Gallagher Group are currently severely in debt.”
At that end, Khalid heard the gist of his message and sighed in relief, “I understand.”
He was worried that he would lose his analytical abilities when he found Lady Sadie. It was a good
thing that he didn’t. But now he didn’t know how to mention the current matter. The girl in the picture
was in high spirits. Whether it was the facial features or height, she looked identical to Lady Sadie.
“Is there something else?” Julian could sense that something was amiss and coldly ordered, “Speak
up.”
Khalid cleared his throat and hesitated, “The Chambers family sent a girl over and she looked almost
exactly like Lady Sadie except that there isn’t a scar on her face. Cayden was so upset that he almost
had a relapse.”
“Send me the picture and leave the rest to me.” Julian ended the call after saying.
