Chapter 844 Theodore is really hard to please
Edward stood in the night, gripping his phone tightly, his eyes dark and filled with anger. He never expected Phoebe to let Theodore move into her house.
Pamela had just tipped him off, and he could hardly accept the outcome.noveldrama
Had Phoebe forgotten? Forgotten how Theodore had ignored her and nearly cost her life? How could she recover so quickly and forget the pain she had endured?
Brian got out of the car and saw Edward smoking in the night. He slowly walked up to him, asked for a cigarette, and put it in his mouth.
Recently, the Vanderbilt family had been under investigation by the financial crime unit, causing panic throughout the group.
Brian, the current president of the Vanderbilt Group, was extremely busy and hadn't had time to relax for days.
Valerie had called him several times, asking him to accompany her, but he had no time.
The impact of this incident was significant, and the shareholders were putting pressure on them to resolve it quickly. Otherwise, the negative impact would cause the stock price to plummet, resulting in huge losses.
Brian said angrily, "If I find out who the bastard is behind this, I won't let him off." Edward glanced at him, "Brian, haven't you found out who the mastermind is yet?"
"It's not that easy to find out. We didn't even pay attention to that small company before. Who knew such a small company could cause such a big problem?" Brian was very angry.
The enemy had chosen a company they hadn't paid attention to and wasn't profitable. If they had known, they would have shut it down earlier, avoiding such a mess.
Edward pondered, "To target us through that company, the enemy must know us very well and know where to hit us most effectively. Do you think it could be the Reynolds family?"
Brian frowned. The business world was tense, and various strategies were used to achieve goals. It was possible that the Reynolds family might be behind this, but...
"Our business directions are different from the Reynolds Group, and there's no competition. Plus, our mom and Mrs. Reynolds have a good relationship. It shouldn't be, right?"
Edward sneered, "The less likely it seems, the more likely it is. Brian, don't forget, I've always been Theodore's enemy."
Brian looked at his gloomy face and frowned, "Edward, I heard you've been getting close to Madison lately. Are you with her because of this?"
Edward pursed his lips, "No."
"Edward, listen to me. We are a well-established family. Even if the financial crime unit is investigating the group, it won't cause much trouble. Don't sacrifice your happiness for unnecessary compromises. I still hope you can be happy," Brian said sincerely.
He had married Bianca for the company's benefit.
He didn't want Edward to do the same.
Edward was deeply moved, "Brian, I won't."
He had a purpose for getting close to Madison. Even if he couldn't have Phoebe, he wouldn't let Theodore and Phoebe remarry.
But for now, exposing the kids hadn't made Theodore abandon Phoebe. Instead, it had pushed her closer to him.
Thinking about this, Edward felt a sharp pang in his heart.
Brian patted his shoulder, "Don't smoke too much, get some sleep. I'll go check on the kids."
Brian left, and Edward was alone in the courtyard, his expression growing darker and more menacing.

Phoebe shivered in the night breeze, hearing footsteps behind her. She turned to see Theodore walking towards her through the door.
She leaned on the railing, listening to the approaching footsteps that stopped beside her. She tilted her head to look at Theodore.
"How are the kids doing?"
Theodore, wearing a thin shirt, smelled faintly of medicine warmed by his body heat. He placed a hand on the railing and said calmly, "They're doing great. You've done a wonderful job raising them."
Hubert, Boris, and Noomi were unexpectedly sensible. Seeing his injured arm, they treated him like a fragile crystal.
Phoebe smiled slightly, "I thought you'd dislike them. I didn't expect you to have such a high opinion of them."
Theodore glanced at her, "Phoebe, do you think I'm particularly narrow-minded?"
Phoebe was taken aback, remembering how he used to mind Edward a lot. She said quietly, "You're not narrow-minded, just possessive."
Theodore didn't hear her muttering, "What did you say?"
"Nothing. I'm just glad you can get along with them. Let me show you your room. The move was rushed, and the conditions are limited," Phoebe said.
Theodore frowned, "Didn't I say the kids should move out of your room? I want to share a room with you."
Phoebe's cheeks burned red. Theodore was being unreasonable. She said, "Not for now. They have always slept with me. Suddenly making them move out, they won't adapt."
"When will you make them move?" Theodore asked leisurely.

"Well..." Phoebe hesitated, "When they grow a bit older. They still kick the covers in their sleep. How can they sleep alone?"
"Didn't you hire a nanny?" Theodore asked.
Phoebe pressed her lips together, "In Caneda, we also had servants, but they still slept with me at night. They don't need me much longer. In a couple of years, they won't need to sleep with me. I don't want to miss their growth."
"A couple of years?" Theodore's dissatisfaction was almost palpable.
Phoebe never thought Theodore would one day compete with the kids for attention.
She was at her wit's end, "At least wait until they're three, okay?"
Theodore turned to leave, "Then move them now."
Phoebe was shocked. She quickly caught up and grabbed his wrist, "Theodore, can you not be so domineering?"
Theodore's jawline was tense.
Phoebe looked at his handsome profile, softened her tone, and said, "Seven years ago, we skipped the dating phase and went straight into marriage. We maintained a four- year marriage without really getting to know each other. I've always wondered why we ended up that way. Maybe it was because we didn't understand each other. Now we have a chance to start over properly. Why rush into living together without taking the time to truly understand each other first?"
Theodore said, "You want to take it slow. Fine. But in six months, they must be independent. No objections, right?"
Phoebe saw his determined expression, knowing this was his biggest concession. She had to agree for now.
"Okay!"
Phoebe took Theodore to see his room. Theodore had a sour expression the whole
time, but she ignored it. When he went to the bathroom to wash up, she quickly made her exit.
Theodore was really hard to please. She felt a lot of pressure!
