Chapter 862 A Long Night
The kiss left both of them breathless. Phoebe glanced down and her cheeks instantly turned red. She quickly turned her head away.
She could hear Theodore's suppressed panting in her ear, and it gave her goosebumps all over. Awkwardly, she said, "How about you take a shower?"
Theodore stared at her for a while, rubbed his face, and complained softly, "You really are a heartless woman."
But he didn't go to the bathroom. Instead, he collapsed on the bed, his hand resting on his forehead, trying to calm his restless body.
Phoebe glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, seeing how uncomfortable he was. She wasn't exactly a person with no desires. Being kissed and held by him, she couldn't say she had no reaction at all.
She just felt that they shouldn't be moving so fast.
"I-I'll go to the bathroom." Phoebe, afraid she might soften, quickly got up and walked to the bathroom.
Behind her, Theodore's hoarse, low voice came, "What, are you going to take care of it yourself?"
Phoebe understood what he meant, and her whole face turned red. She glared at him and quickly walked into the bathroom.
Theodore must have been really uncomfortable, tossing and turning all night. When Phoebe came back from the bathroom, she lay down next to the kids and fell asleep quickly.
He endured alone until the middle of the night, looking at the peacefully sleeping Phoebe, wishing he could kick her out of bed. He held back and finally wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her tightly into his embrace.
The next day, Phoebe woke up nearly suffocating.
She had dreamed she was buried under a pile of heavy blankets, unable to move, unable to move. When she opened her eyes, she found herself entangled with Theodore, who was holding her like an octopus.
His arm was draped over her waist, and his long leg was pressing on her knee, no wonder she couldn't move even in her dream.
She reached out and pushed against Theodore's firm chest. The next second, she was held even tighter. She took a heavy breath, "Let go of me, I can hardly breathe." Theodore nuzzled her hair and, after a moment, when Phoebe was about to push him again, he finally let go of her, his voice thick with sleep, "Why are you up so early?" Phoebe wanted to hit him. If she hadn't been nearly suffocated, would she have woken up so early? She lay flat for a while to catch her breath.
"You go back to sleep, I'm going to the bathroom."
"Why do you always go to the bathroom?" Theodore asked, suspecting that Phoebe was using the bathroom as an excuse to avoid spending time with him.
Phoebe was stunned by his question.
Actually, ever since she had the triplets, she had frequent urination, getting up once or twice a night was normal.noveldrama
But how could she explain this to Theodore? It was too private and too embarrassing. She hummed as she got up, saying, "Maybe I'm just getting old."
Theodore turned his head and saw her putting on her slippers, her figure swaying as she walked across the room. The bedside lamp cast a soft shadow on her back. He took a deep breath, and the restlessness he had suppressed all night resurfaced.
He got up from the bed, picked up a pack of cigarettes, and left the room.
When Phoebe came back from the bathroom, she didn't see Theodore in bed, but the door was ajar. She slowly walked out of the room.
The November night was as cool as water, and the temperature in the hallway was a bit lower than in the bedroom. She pulled her clothes tighter around herself and noticed a flicker of light on the balcony.
She walked over and saw Theodore standing there, smoking.

She pursed her lips. Getting up early to smoke, he must be really frustrated. She didn't go over to bother him and turned back to the room.
Not long after lying down, she heard the door creak open, light footsteps, and then the mattress sank slightly. Phoebe opened her eyes in the dark.
The next second, she was pulled into his arms, the fresh scent of tobacco mixed with a faint fragrance filling her nose. Phoebe fell asleep, comforted by this increasingly familiar scent.
The next day, Evelyn was going to visit Delilah at the Vanderbilt villa. Phoebe heard and tried to stop her, but Evelyn scolded her for being ungrateful.
Phoebe thought about what she had learned a few days ago and rubbed her temples. "Mom, I know Delilah used to be good to us, but we haven't been in touch for years. If you go to make pizza for her, she might think you have ulterior motives."
Evelyn glared at her, "What could I possibly want from her? Do you even think before you speak?"
Seeing a family argument about to erupt, Theodore intervened just in time, "Evelyn, I have to go to the estate today anyway, I'll take you there."
Phoebe turned to look at Theodore. He knew everything, so why was he still letting Evelyn interact with the Vanderbilt family? When the truth came out, everyone would be embarrassed. It would be better to distance themselves now.
Theodore gave her a reassuring look, "Also, there's another thing. Since Evelyn won't be here today and you and Ruby have to work, the four kids will be at home. Pamela and Elijah can't handle them alone, so I'll take them to the estate for the day. My mom really likes them."
Evelyn hesitated.
Although Taylor showed great affection for Hubert, Boris, and Noomi yesterday, she was still a bit uneasy about letting Theodore take them to the estate.
It felt like sending lambs to the slaughter. What if they couldn't bring them back?

"Theodore, Hubert, Boris, and Noomi are quite mischievous. Only Ethan is well- behaved. I'm afraid Taylor won't be able to handle them."
"It's fine, Grace and the others are home today," Theodore said.
Seeing his determination, Evelyn looked at Phoebe. Phoebe also didn't quite agree
with Theodore taking the four kids to the Reynolds estate.
"Won't it be too much trouble for them?"
"No, they need to accept the kids sooner or later. The sooner they bond, the easier it will be to get along in the future," Theodore said.
Phoebe felt something was off about his words but couldn't pinpoint it. In the end, she agreed.
Hearing that Theodore was taking them out to play, Hubert, Boris, and Noomi were thrilled. Phoebe gave them some reminders on proper guest behavior, unsure if they would remember.
Theodore, listening to her nagging, could clearly sense her unease. After Pamela took the kids downstairs, he walked over and hugged her from behind.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to the office today. I'll stay at the estate all day and won't let them out of my sight."
Phoebe couldn't help but worry. Taylor coming to Lakeview Estates to see Hubert, Boris, and Noomi already scared her, let alone them going to the estate now.
"Did you tell your mom?"
"Yes, she's very happy."
Phoebe sighed softly, turned to face him, and slightly raised her chin, "Theodore, aren't you rushing things?"
Theodore looked down at her, his gaze falling on her soft, pink lips. Feeling a bit restless, he lowered his head and gave her a quick kiss, "Trust me, okay?"
Phoebe reluctantly nodded. After breakfast, she sent Evelyn and the four kids off in a stretch Lincoln. Watching the car drive away, she then went to work.
What do you think?
