Chapter 39 Print Another Co
"Let me go!"
Claire glared at Darren and shook off his hand.
"You're not going to allow me to leave because I burned a damn photo?"
"Why did you have to do this?"
Darren looked into her eyes.
"It's just a photo. Why did you have to burn it?"
"Wow! What a joke!"
Claire scoffed at him, anger blazing in her eyes.
"My face was broken in the picture.Did you expect me to leave it alone after seeing it?"
"What? Who broke it?"
Darren frowned and looked at Marcel.
"What happened?"
"Well..."
Marcel swallowed loudly.He couldn't explain.
"You forgot to destroy it.It doesn't matter.I've helped you burn the rubbish. You don't have to thank me," Claire snapped at him.
"I took my bracelet.Don't worry, Mr.Sampson.I won't step into your house ever again."
"I didn't mean that..."
"Enough! Don't pretend to be nice anymore!"
Claire waved her hand in disgust.
"You don't want to see me, and I don't want to see you, either.Darren, it's better if we don't contact each other again."
With that, Claire stormed off without looking back. Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
Darren frowned; his jaw tightened. He wanted to catch up with her, but his body froze. He dejectedly watched Claire get in the car.
Soon, the fiery red sports car roared to life and sped off.
However, things were not over yet.
Elora couldn't stand it anymore. She darted toward Darren and pulled his sleeve.
"Look! Look at her! How arrogant and disrespectful she is! She is humiliating us because she has hooked up with someone powerful from the Williams family.Gosh, what the hell does she think of herself? Everyone knows she is a mistress. She might not give a damn about her reputation, but our Sampson family cannot lose our prestige."
"Mom!"
Darren grunted in annoyance. He glanced at the broken glass on the ground again and remembered what Claire had told him.
"What happened to the photo? Who smashed it?"
"Why are you asking me? How do I know?"
Elora was annoyed.
Nothing was working her way today.
Even Darren seemed to interrogate her.
"I didn't break it! Moreover, why do you believe Claire's words? Did you see anyone smash the photo? She probably broke it herself and was creating a scene just now!"
Elora was unreasonable.
Talking to her seemed pointless.
Darren was annoyed.
"Call Bonita out!" he ordered Marcel.
"Do you suspect that Bonita smashed it? She is your elder sister!"
Elora waved her hands dramatically.
"Darren, your behavior has been confusing me lately. We are family! Why are you always supporting Claire?"
"I'm just trying to find out the truth!"
Darren snapped viciously.
Elora's nostrils flared with rage.
"I didn't smash it, nor did Bonita."
She stomped her foot and pointed at the servants.
"You can ask them if you want! Perhaps someone accidentally dropped it on the floor! Who did it? Admit your mistake.Otherwise, I'll fire all of you today!"
Elora vented her anger on her servants, for she couldn't scream at her son.
The servants trembled with fear as Darren's eyes slowly swept over them.
Just then, he noticed Lyla wanted to say something but remained quiet for some reason.
"Lyla."
Darren arched an eyebrow in suspicion.
"Do you know something?"
Lyla hesitated for a moment.
Finally, unable to bear the pressure, she cleared her throat and said, "Sir, last Saturday, I saw Miss Brooks come out of Claire's former room.
Err...she said she accidentally broke the frame. She was afraid you would be angry, so she asked me not to tell anyone about it."
Darren closed his eyes and let out a weary sigh.
"All right."
"That bitch wanted to slander us..."
Elora mumbled.
Darren scowled at Elora, and she let out an exasperated sigh and shut her mouth.
"Marcel, ask someone to clean it up,"
Darren ordered Marcel as he stared at the remnants of the frame on the ground absentmindedly.
"Okay!"
Elora had thrown away Claire's belongings after the divorce except for the wedding photo.
Darren had caught her cleaning the room and told his mother to keep it as a souvenir and then forgot about it.
Now that the photo was destroyed, his heart sank.
"Do we still have the negative of the photograph?" Darren asked.
Marcel was taken aback.
"Yes." He nodded.
"All right.Print another copy and frame it."
"Yes, sir."
Darren went straight into the house.
Elora stared at him.
Just then, something occurred to her, and she followed him.
"Darren..." Elora called him, her voice soft and kind.
Darren stopped and looked back, casting a quizzical look at her.
