His Ex-wife Is An Heiress (Amara and Tobias)

Chapter 0089

The first thought that entered Amara's head as she woke up was 'shit'.

And then, as she became conscious, the pain settled in.

The aching pain in her head and the soreness of her back. Then she heard the voices, low considerate whispers.

"...thankfully, too much of the drug wasn't ingested." An unfamiliar voice said. "Apart from the level of her stress, she seems fine, although I'd recommend a few days rest."

"I see, thank you." A more familiar voice spoke and Amara manager to pry her eyes open.

In the door way stood a doctor and besides him was her knight in shining armor, her bungee partner.

The doctor was the middle of giving instructions, but paused when he noticed her awakening.

"You're awake," He noted, causing the other male's head to snap in Amara's direction as quickly as possible. "How are you feeling?"

"Fine," Amara's voice came out hoarse. She scanned the room she was in, squinting at the unfamiliar surroundings. "Where am I?"

"My place." Her bungee partner answered, settling beside her. "I didn't know the pass code to your place and you were unconscious, so I brought you here." He explained. Amara nodded and flashed him a smile. "Thank you."

He mirrored her smile briefly before pointing at the doctor in the room. "This is Doctor Lyle. I called him to come and check you out. Hope you don't mind." Was she in any position to? Amara shook her head. "Not at all. Thank you, once again."

He nodded, then addressed the doctor. "Doctor Lyle, now that she's awake, could you please perform a quick check up. I want to make sure she's truly alright." "Ah, yes." The doctor took a step closer. "May I?" He asked and Amara nodded.

"Sure."

"Okay, let's start."

The checkup lasted for less than ten minutes, with Doctor Lyle only asking the necessary questions and making sure that nothing was out of the ordinary. When he was done, he dropped off drug prescription and saw himself out, leaving Amara alone with her bungee partner.

"Where is he?" She asked as soon as they were alone. "The man who attacked me."Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

"I sent him to the police station. They're currently questioning him."

Amara felt relieved after hearing this. The room descended into silence as her fingers toyed with the duvet and after a little while, she decided to no longer impose on the stranger. "I see. Thank you, for bringing me here and helping me." She pulled the duvet off her body and swung her leg to the side of the bed. "I'll be taking my leave."

Her bungee partner looked like he wanted to say something, but opted to remain silent and watch her, waiting patiently for something.

Amara pushed herself off the bed, but almost tumbled to the floor the moment she tried to stand.

"Be careful." He caught her just in time and placed her back on the bed. "You still need some rest."

"I'm fine." Amara objected.

"You need to take medicine to cleanse that drug out of your system. I'll fetch it from the pharmacy downtown and-"

"You don't need to do that." Amara's words came out sounding more harsh than she wanted. "I can get those myself."

"So, what you're telling me is to seat back, cross my legs and watch an unwell person care for themselves?" He chuckled. "My mother raised me better." "You..."

"Elijah," He interrupted. "My name is Elijah."

Amara forced a smile. "Elijah, I thank you for your hospitality so far, but think you've done enough. That day and then now," She shook her head.

"I can't trouble you any further."

Seeing her reluctance, Elijah eventually nodded. "Alright. I'll give you the drug prescription, but at least stay for dinner, I can't have you making your own food, not after you were drugged." en NovelDrama.Org

Amara thought about it. It would be nice not to have to cook or make her own food. The prospect sounded tempting.

She mulled over it for a few seconds before nodding. "Okay."

Elijah smiled. "Okay, I'll heat dinner up and come get you, Amara."

Just like that, he was gone and she blinked in confusion. Did she ever tell him her name during their last meeting?

An hour later, dinner was served and Amara found herself seated at the table with Elijah, eating in silence.

The food was delicious, but her appetite was still nowhere to be found. The attack was still fresh in her mind, as well as the words of the attacker.

Tobias had ordered the attack.

Some part of her didn't want to believe that, but the part of her which did, the bigger part, needed solid evidence that he wasn't the one who had pulled the string. Solid evidence that he believing side did not have.

She sighed, the sound loud and clear in the silent room and Elijah, who had been observing her since she sat down, finally spoke.

"Is the food not to your liking?"

Amara's gaze snapped towards him and she shook her head. "It's delicious."

"Then...is it the man who attacked you," He suddenly guessed. "You're still thinking about him, right?"

Amara lips parted but she remained silent. Her lack of words had Elijah sighing, which in turn led to him standing up from the dining table and retrieving something from a drawer nearby.
