Losing Instinct
If ever you feel caught between reason and instinct, choose instinct. Every single time.
Nate swore by this line that Killian had drilled into his head. In their business, it wasn't the mind that kept them alive — it was their guts. Yet, for the first time, he would ignore his instinct for her happiness. She promised she wouldn't leave him, he decided he would trust her word and be numb to the unease squirming in the pit of his stomach.
He finally eased out of her, leaving her utterly delirious and sated. A thick stream of milky white liquid followed him out, too much for her to contain. Eyes unfocused, breathing erratic- she was still reeling from her release. The whole night, he kept her awake, moaning and writhing under him. The girl had now grown used to his constant need, unending desires. He couldn't have gotten a better partner. No matter how she protested, her walls always embraced his invasion, giving his aching cock the relief it thirst for. As many times as he wanted.
As he gazed down at her, he realised there was nothing in this world that he wouldn't do for her. If keeping the door unlocked would make her happy, then he will take the chance.
She slowly began to regain her senses, her eyes focusing. Caught in her spell, his mouth curled into a mesmerised smile. Her beauty was so delicate yet so lethal that it left him undone each time. He was enchanted by her- mind, body, and soul. For all the time, he pretended to hate her existence..... If only he could make her understand how every beat of his heart echoed with her name, how every second of his life was spent craving for her. If only she would believe him if he confessed that she never lingered in the back of his head, she was the centerpiece of his world. Everything else came after her. He hated to feel this vulnerable, this powerless, when she was so indifferent to him, yet... yet never had he ever felt this alive before. She was his source of light. He had been smiling more than usual with her around him. She effortlessly filled his emptiness, healed wounds he never dared show to others.
He rolled off and lay beside her, his hand reaching for the cover. Tucking it around them, he drew her into his arms, letting her rest against his chest. Her eyes were heavy-lidded, exhaustion visibly weighing down on them. She snuggled into him and lost in her dreamland.
"Sleep," he softly urged, slipping an arm under her head. She obeyed readily, her eyes falling close on their own.
Shooting a glance at the clock, he realised he had only two hours until work. He exhaled a sigh. Time with her always passed too quickly. He threaded his fingers through hers and whispered gentle kisses all over her face.
Something shuffled around her feet, pulling her from slumber. She opened her eyes to Snow White paddling softly around her feet. The little kitten mewed, gazing at Sera with her wide blue eyes. Serasat up, holding the cover tightly around her sensitive breasts. She looked around to realise, Nate had left. The room was cleaned except for their bed. Her clothes were placed on her side.
"Hey, Snowy baby, how are you?" she cooed, prompting the kitten to sit on her lap.
"Are you hungry?" she asked before shooting a glance at the clock. Her eyes grew wide in realisation, it was almost noon. She had slept in the whole day.
She quickly put on her clothes and climbed down the bed to feed Snow White, assuming she was starving since morning. However, her concem eased when she caught her bow half-filled with food. Not only that, he had also prepared her breakfast before leaving. As she was starving with her stomach eating itself, she heated up toasts, made herself a coffee, and set to devour it all.
But what really made her double-take was the note taped to her fridge. It wasn'tnoveldrama
the note but what was written on it.
I made your breakfast. I hope you'll have it. I've also kept the door open so that you know you're not a prisoner here
The note read, stunning her to her core. She read it at least three times before racing over and unlocking the door. She froze in disbelief. The door was indeed unlocked. The sheer joy she felt was impossible to measure in words. She opened the door and stepped out, her face splitting into a wide grin.
"Sera," someone called, interrupting her moment. She looked over to find Mrs. Jang standing at her door. The girl quickly schooled her features and offered her neighbor a polite smile. Mrs. Jang approached her, wearing a good-natured smile.
