CHAPTER LXI
The party continued in full swing. Everyone resumed their business and before Sophia could realise it, time had passed.
It wasn’t yet time for her to cut her cake. The MC had announced that the party had only gone halfway and there was still a lot to happen.
Sophia just sat gloomily on her seat, refusing drinks from Sophia and others. All she could think of was Chase. He occupied her thoughts and she couldn’t wait to talk to him.
Her eyes fell on him going towards the bathroom and an idea popped into her mind. That would be the best time to talk to him.
She stood up and flashed Valerie, Lucas and Luciano a smile. “Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom,”
Lucas ignored her and turned his face away while the remaining two nodded.

“Cha-Don,”
Chase stopped in his tracks at the mention of his name at the familiar voice. He turned and narrowed his eyes at her. “What’s the matter, Saige?”
Saige sighed and walked closer to him. “Are you still upset with me about what I did?”Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
Chase ignored her question. “Do you have something important to say?”
“I’m sorry,” She sighed again and tucked a strand of her red hair behind her ear. “I’m sorry I – I betrayed you. I was scared and I felt insecure. I thought you’d fall in love with-,”
He cut her off. “Sophia?”
She dropped her head and her shoulders sagged. She then looked back up at him. “I love you,”
“Is that why you chose to frame her?” Chase asked. “What if we hadn’t gotten there in time? If Lucas didn’t do anything, she’d have been locked up in jail for a crime she’s innocent of or worse still, dead because of that bomb. The people in the airport would have died from the explosion because Sophia wouldn’t have made it to the plane before the bomb went off, Saige,”
“This is the reason why I feel insecure. This is why I feel jealous of her,” A tear slid down her cheek. “You never care for me the way you do for her. You don’t freak out like this for me and I’m your fiancee. She’s not your fiancee,”
“Sophia is my responsibility,”
“You chose to keep her as your responsibility. If you had killed her, I wouldn’t have done what I did. I wouldn’t have lived with the insecurity that someone that’s barely twenty years old would come and snatch you from me,” She stepped closer to him. “I-I’m sorry I sound disrespectful but I have no choice. I love you so much I can’t imagine my life without you,”
“I promised to marry you, Saige. I wouldn’t go back on my words,” Chase said.
“But will you give your heart to me the way I’ve given mine to you?” More tears kissed her cheeks.
Chase said nothing.
Saige moved closer again, their chests brushing. “Fine. Forget about love. I’m desperate for you, Chase. I need you badly. Please just give me your word one last time that you will marry me. Promise me again that I’ll rule your kingdom beside you as your queen. Promise me that I’ll be the mother of your kids. Promise to make love to me as you do with her,”
“Saige-”
She shook her head and gripped the lapels of his suit. “I won’t be able to live without you, Chase,” She croaked out. “I-I’ll kill myself, I swear. I – I love you,”
“I promise, Saige, I’ll marry you,” Chase said. “I already made the promise to you and your dad before. I’ll not go back on my words. Don’t ever speak of killing yourself,”
“Seal the promise with a kiss,” She replied. Chase turned his face away, and she cupped one of his cheeks, making him face her. “Please, just one kiss. You’ve never touched me the way you touch her,” She encircled her palm around the back of his right hand and placed it on her waist, holding it in place. “You never stare at me the way you stare at her,” She guided his palm to her ass. “You don’t know how it messes with my sanity any time I see you staring at her like that. Like you did today,” She then guided his palm again to her lower back. “I almost lost it when she hugged you like that. You’ve never let me hug you. You never touched me. Please do something tonight. Do something to help me. I -I’m ready for any type of fuck as long as it’s from you. Just see me for once , please,”
Chase made no attempt to pull his hand away from her. He simply stared into her eyes, reeling in the pain they held. She was sad. He had made her sad. But she should have known. Love didn’t exist in their world. “Saige,”
Saige stepped on her toes so their breaths could mix. “Please. Just one kiss. Kiss me and I’ll be rid of my insecurities. Kiss me and seal your promise. Just a kiss, please. I’m close to losing my mind because of you and your negligence. Just help me out today. Save me,”
He was the only one that could save her. He knew it. But kissing her would be nothing like kissing Sophia. He wouldn’t get the satisfaction from kissing her.
As if she knew what he was thinking, Saige brushed their lips together. “It must not be like Sophia’s,” She whispered. “I don’t want it to be like that. It has to be ours. Just kiss me, please. I’m desperate,”
Chase knew it wasn’t right. But Saige was his fiancee, right? She also needed him. He might not be satisfied but he couldn’t be the reason for whatever would happen to her if he refused her.
Covering the tiny distance between them, Chase slammed his lips on Saige’s warm ones. Immediately, she opened her mouth and he slipped his tongue inside. Her hands left his cheek and went round his neck, disappearing into his hair.
Saige’s eyes closed on their own accord and a moan left her lips. Chase turned her so her back was against the wall while he devoured her lips even though it wasn’t the way he wanted. He wanted someone else’s lips.
He wanted a particular nineteen-year-old girl to be the one in Saige’s place.
Saige’s heart filled with warmth. Finally, she had him. She had the man she loved.
