Chapter 20
Chapter 20 The Tables Are
Turned
Felicia sprang up from an armchair, a finger pointed at Darya.
Sitting next to her was Judy, who looked just as shocked,
'How did you get in here?' Felicia didn't wait for a reply.
She turned towards the counter. 'Where's your manager? I thought this place operates by appointment only. Why did you allow someone like that to enter?'
Avery leaned into Darya. "They are?'
'Judy Cavanaugh, Micah's mother.' Darya tilted her chín towards the seated woman. The one shouting is Felicia
Cavanaugh, Micah's sister.'
Judy scowled when she saw how close Avery and Darya were standing
The two were flirting in public!
Even if Darya was no longer her daughter-in-law, Judy still felt offended by the woman's blatant display of intimacy with another man.
Besides, she had a few old scores to settle with the ill-mannered, greedy, lying hussy.
Felicia had just returned from a jaunt overseas, after having lost millions at the roulette table.
She had no idea almost everyone in Hagen knew about her taking Darya's wedding ring and pawning it at the
casino.
Confused and irked by the subtle digs and mocking comments thrown her way, Felicia finally asked a close friend, who pointed her to the posts from a month ago.
Felicia was pleasantly surprised by the news of Micah's divorce-she'd never liked Darya anyway.
But the joy was short-lived.
She became hopping mad when she learned what Darya had done.
How dare that woman accuse her of being a thief!
The diamond ring belonged to the Cavanaughs!
She was just borrowing it, not stealing it!
Humiliated, Felicia hid in her room and refused to come out.
Judy finally coaxed her to come to the spa for a day of relaxation.

Felicia gritted her teeth.
It was a good thing she ran into the loathsome woman here.
Mirabelle West, dressed neatly in a cream-coloured suit, hurried forward.
hurried forward
Felicia folded her arms and jutted out her chin. 'Miss West, please check if this woman here has an appointment. If she doesn't, you should get security to escort her out. I dont want to see her face in here!
Since Judy held VIP status at Remède, Felicia expected the manager to oblige this simple request.
Mirabelle grimaced and looked pained.
Felicia snorted haughtily, stood back and waited for Darya to be dragged out of the lobby.
But the manager straightened up after catching a look from Avery.noveldrama
She put on a stern face. 'Miss Cavanaugh, the lady is a guest of Mr McAllister, who owns this establishment. She doesn't need an appointment to enjoy our services.'
Felicia's jaw dropped.
Darya said nothing.
Talking to Felicia was a waste of time.
Judy stepped up when she saw her daughter getting rebuked. 'Mr McAllister, you may not be aware that Darya Miller used to be married to my son.'
Avery spared her a brief glance. 'I'm well aware of that.'
'Then you should know that she's...Well, I just hope you'd be more careful around a woman like that. She has
a...history.'
'A history of what?' Avery looked straight at her.
Judy smiled demurely. 'While she certainly has the looks...' She gave Darya an appraising look.
Even the simple white t-shirt and dark blue jeans couldn't hide Darya's curves.
Judy's smile turned derisive. 'It takes more than beauty to make quality wife material.'
Avery threw a protective arm around Darya's shoulders. 'If memory serves, Mr Cavanaugh's the one who had
an affair.'
'What affair?' Felicia inserted herself into the conversation.
She recalled the posts from a month ago. 'Are you talking about Regina? She's-'
'Even your daughter knows about the affair.' Avery kept his eyes on Judy. 'Which speaks of a lack of discretion on your son's part, doesn't it?'
Before Judy could come up with a retort, Avery added, 'Besides, I'm sure you know Darya was the one who proposed the divorce. She dumped him, not the other way around.'
Judy's face turned beet red. 'It's not what-'

you'll e
me,' Avery cut her off, 'I believe we are done here.'
Mirabelle West took the cue. 'Mr McAllister, would you like me to remove these two from the premises?'
'Remove who?' Felicia shouted. 'Are you kidding? My mother's a VIP customer!'
Avery smiled pleasantly at the manager. 'It's not my call. I've transferred my ownership in Remède to Darya. She's the boss now.'
'When did you do that?' Darya was surprised.
‘Earlier this morning. While you were out jogging.'
Judy didn't miss a word of their conversation.
It confirmed her suspicion-these two were living together!
Darya Miller had found herself another meal ticket.
No wonder she could act so pompously.
Mirabelle West nodded, then waited for Darya to give the order.
Judy was fuming. 'I'm your mother-in-law. You can't do that!'
The old Darya Miller would never have dared disobey her, but Judy wasn't so sure
if she could still control this new version of Darya.
'Ex,' Darya corrected her. 'Ex-mother-in-law."
'Micah will never forgive you if you do this!' Judy threatened.
She refused to believe Darya had completely let go of her feelings for Micah.
A family as prominent as the McAllisters would never allow a woman like Darya to marry their heir.
She was probably just a mistress to Avery McAllister.
Eventually, he'd get bored with her and kick her to the kerb.
Then she'd have to crawl back to Micah.
She couldn't afford to burn her bridges.
Darya didn't need to be a mind reader to know what Judy was thinking.
The woman practically wrote all her thoughts on her forehead.
Darya shook her head, amazed and amused.
Judy Cavanaugh sincerely believed that her son was the best, and that no woman
could be immune to his charm.
She chose to think of Darya's divorce as simply a ploy to get Micah's attention.
Out of the corner of her eye, Darya caught two burly security guards moving in.
Mirabelle West gestured for them to wait.
