Legendary Football Superstar

Chapter 029: Stalemate Stage

"Yo, it's Logan again! The top tight end for the UCLA Bruins!" Kirk was hyped, "Quick

short pass, six-yard throw, Logan snags it easy, takes a hit, breaks the tackle! Hell yeah! Run, Logan, run! He's tearing down the right side of the field, what the hell are the Trojans' defenders doing? Seriously, what are they doing? Four guys chasing him, but no one's catching up, hold up, hold up."

Kirk was practically gasping for air, "Logan's surrounded by the Trojans' defense, he pulls a sudden stop, two guys fly past him, then he bolts through the gap, heading left, oh my God! What's going on? Touchdown, touchdown! The UCLA Bruins just scored again! Holy crap, what are we witnessing! Let's check the replay!"

After Logan grabbed the ball, three defenders closed in from the left, and another was right on his tail, but with a slick backward move, he shook off the tackle and sprinted to the right.

Since it was a short pass, Logan became an instant target, and the defenders swarmed him. Four guys boxed him in, and finally, at the opponent's 30-yard line, the trap was

set.

No one saw it coming when Logan made a gutsy stop, like an offside trap in soccer, letting the defenders overshoot, then he slipped through the gap and sprinted all the way for the touchdown.

"I know I've said this before, but seriously, my vocab is way too limited." Kirk's eyes were wide, words stuck in his throat, then a grin spread across his face, and he finally found his voice again, "Unbelievable! The UCLA Bruins are back on the field, and in less than thirty seconds, they've scored another touchdown! Yeah, you heard that right, led by Luke," Kirk had to double-check the name, this number eleven was pure magic, "a short pass, a six-yard short pass, and Logan sprinted all the way for a sixty-yard touchdown! Wow!"

Not just Kirk, even the UCLA Bruins players were in shock.

Luke stared at Logan in the end zone, Logan's legs spread wide like a Super Saiyan, fists clenched, showing off like, "Am I awesome? Am I awesome? Am I freaking awesome?" But the first thought in Luke's mind was: Did he really just score a touchdown?

Things were moving way too fast, catching everyone off guard.

Luke turned to his teammates and saw the same shock on their faces. Sure, their goal .was to score a touchdown but doing it so easily so quickly so effortlessly?. No one saw that coming. The original plan was just a six-yard short pass, not a touchdown! Caught off guard, the Trojans' defense fell apart, like a bunch of dominos. One mistake led to another, and suddenly, their defense, which had been rock solid all game, was full of holes. They just crumbled.

Even Luke and Logan didn't see this coming. The chance popped up, Luke grabbed it, Logan grabbed it, and boom, touchdown!

The ref threw his hands up, signaling the touchdown was good! The UCLA Bruins pulled off another epic play, turning a simple short pass into a total massacre.

"Bambi!" Marcus was the first to pump his fist and start yelling. They didn't know what just happened, but everything felt different. The biggest change? "Bambi! Bambi!" Marcus shouted, and John quickly joined in, "Bambi!"

One by one, everyone started shouting, "Bambi!" They were going nuts, celebrating like crazy, fists in the air, smiles all around. They felt like they had already won, jumping, cheering, having a blast.

Luke was stunned for a second, then a grin spread across his face, and he burst out laughing, "Alright, alright, I know I'm charming. No need for love confessions." He raised his hand to calm everyone down, and with his teammates laughing, he called out, "Let's go, we need to get ready for the next drive. The game's not over yet!"

Luke was pumped, but he knew it wasn't time to let loose. Victory was the only thing that mattered!

Back on the sidelines, Logan jogged back alone, a big smile on his face, loudly complaining, "Hey, you guys, is this how you treat the hero who scored the touchdown? I was standing there like an idiot, didn't anyone see my run just now? So flashy, so sharp!"

John walked up, grabbed Logan by the neck, and yanked him down hard. "Yeah, yeah, we know you're the hero. But can you chill for a sec? We're winning, but the game's not over. The Trojans ain't pushovers." By "they," he meant the Trojans. Strategically, they could underestimate the enemy, but tactically, they had to take them seriously. USC is no joke. If they get their act together, with so much time left in the fourth quarter, they only need another touchdown or even just a field goal. Or they could just eat up the clock, inching forward ten yards at a time, keeping the UCLA Bruins' offense stuck on the bench. In that case, they'd still come out on top.

The vibe inside the Rose Bowl got tense. As the UCLA Bruins' special teams nailed the extra point, the score tightened to "21:28," just one touchdown behind. After the kickoff, there were ten minutes and three seconds left in the game, entering the final stretch.

Anything could happen.

Back on the field, the Trojans' offense finally found their groove. Led by Matt, they showed their true colors, mixing up passing and running plays, their strategy clicking again. The UCLA Bruins' defense stepped up, slowing down their advance with solid plays.

The two sides went back and forth, but the Trojans kept converting on third down, eating up the clock and holding the upper hand.

Luke and his offensive squad could only sit on the sidelines, half-heartedly studying tactics. They knew they should be focused, but watching the defense battle it out made it hard to concentrate.

If the Trojans scored, whether a seven-point touchdown or a three-point field goal, it would mean the UCLA Bruins would need at least two scoring drives to stay in the game. With so little time left, the challenge was huge. Time was their biggest enemy. So, the defense's efforts were crucial right now.

This is the beauty of football; one hero can't win the game alone. Offense, defense, special teams, and coaching staff all play a part!

The Trojans' offense finally got stopped at the UCLA Bruins' 40-yard line, a tricky spot.

A field goal was too far and risky; a punt felt like a waste.

But the UCLA Bruins knew they had to stop them here, and they did, pinning the Trojans at the 41-yard line. All three downs used up, the Trojans didn't dare risk a fourth-down play and reluctantly chose to punt.noveldrama

The punt was perfect, flying out of bounds, and the UCLA Bruins started their offense from their own 20-yard line.

Luke checked the game clock, only five minutes and seventeen seconds left. The Trojans didn't score, but they chewed up enough time, leaving the UCLA Bruins with a shrinking window for a comeback. Strategically, the Trojans still had the upper hand. No time for second-guessing. Luke rallied his teammates, and they hit the field again! But back on the field, the offense led by Luke faced insane pressure. The Trojans' defense had also found their rhythm. On the first drive, Luke's pass play got sniffed out, and their number 97, Malik, broke through, delivering a brutal hit.

In a rush, Luke threw the ball, which wobbled through the air. The UCLA Bruins' receivers fumbled, almost letting the Trojans' defenders snag an interception. Luckily, John knocked the defender away at the last second, avoiding a disaster.

After two smooth offensive drives, Luke now faced a real test!

But this is what every quarterback has to deal with. Luke didn't flinch. On the second down, he handed the ball to Marcus. After a bunch of passes, a running play caught everyone off guard, and Marcus advanced six yards, leaving four to go.

On the third down, Luke faked a run and passed, fooling the defenders, then connected with John, advancing five yards and keeping the drive alive.

The game had hit its most intense moment!
