Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 125

Selena's dark eyes fluttered innocently as she lifted the lunchbox she was holding, her voice soft and gentle. "Mr. Bennett, I've brought you a homemade lunch with love."

It felt like a step back in time to when she was head over heels for him, never uttering a word about divorce. She was always so sweet and agreeable, never snapping back with sharp words or sassy comebacks.

Back then, Everett didn't see the appeal of a wife like Selena. Besides meeting his physical needs, she seemed bland and uninteresting. A woman who revolved solely around her husband, lacking individuality or thought-was not at all his type. Yet, because of his grandfather, he married her and didn't treat her poorly. Selena enjoed all the luxuries. As long as she stayed in her place, they could live this way forever.Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

Marriages like theirs were common among the elite, and he didn't mind it.

But after her recent antics, he suddenly realized how rare it was to have a wife who wasn't demanding, didn't argue over the little things, and trusted him completely. Everett realized her attempt to make peace, and her expression softened. He lifted his chin slightly and gestured toward the sitting area. "Wait there."

"Sure thing."

Selena settled onto the sofa, opened the lunchbox, and carefully laid out each dish on the table. Then, she snapped a photo with her phone and posted it on social media with the caption: [Delivering a meal to my dear husband.] Location: [Bennett Corporation.]

What was the real reason for the post? To let her uncle know she was on the job!

As for the outcome, that was out of her hands.

Sure enough, within seconds, a message from Brook popped up, encouraging her and saying she was the best!

Selena smirked to herself.

She'd painted a perfect picture for her uncle, always putting on a happy front so he wouldn't worry about marriage. Brook believed that Everettadored her. Changing his mind now would only be possible after a real divorce.

After that, feeling a bit bored, Selena glanced over at Everett. He was still working, his profile elegant and striking, with a jawline sharp as a blade and an oddly enticing Adam's apple.

Now, with those gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose, he had a certain scholarly yet rebellious allure.

Her mind drifted back to a time she'd dressed up as a maid, and surprised him in his office, leading to a rather unexpected scenario. That was when she discovered his weak spot was his Adam's apple.

Objectively, Everett was perfect in

every way, except for the fact that he did not dove her. She couldn't stand being ignored and was slowly depleting herself in this longo unfulfilling marriage.

Noticing her gaze, Everett suddenly looked up, and their eyes met. Startled, as if caught doing something wrong, Selena quickly looked away.

His dark eyes narrowed. "Why's your face so red?"

He paused, seemingly reading her mind, "Are you thinking about something naughty again?"

Selena was speechless.

Was he a mind reader? How did he know her thoughts were drifting to such fantasies?

She couldn't admit it, so she shot back, "The air conditioning's too low in here; can't I feel warm without you making things up?"
