Chapter 148
Everett was boiling over, his anger spilling into his words. "Can't you understand plain English? Selena, if I wanted a divorce, I wouldn't be going through all this hassle. I could easily kick you out without a dime. Do you really think you would have a shot at fighting back?" Selena opened her mouth but couldn't find the words. She hesitated, knowing that while Everett could be ruthless, he wasn't one to lie. If he was behind all this, he wouldn't be denying it now. His faults were always laid bare.
Under her silence, Everett studied her pale face, and suddenly, it clicked. He asked, "Is this why you're so hell-bent on divorcing me?"
Selena stayed quiet, her eyes flickering, clearly indicating he had hit the nail on the head.
Everett nodded, a frustrated laugh escaping him, "You're really something, you know that? Playing the victim like a pro."
She'd been acting out all because of some unfounded accusation. Was there anyone better at making a scene than her?
This time, Selena couldn't hold back her annoyance, snapping back, "Aren't you doing the exact same thing to me? Pot, meet kettle!"
Everett felt like he was about to explode. Listening to another word from her might just tip him over the edge.
The urgency between them was unbearable. He breathed heavily, tilting her chin up to make her look at him. Their breaths mingled.
His voice was rough and husky, "Alright, you say you're innocent, then prove it!"
With those words, Selena felt his arousal pressing against her, freezing her in place.
"If it wasn't you, and you don't want me turning to someone else, then help me out here!"
Selena shook her head. "Let's go to the hospital. I'll take you right now!"
"There's no time!" Everett pushed her back firmly.
Selena's mind was racing. Her gaze conflicted for several seconds before she finally spoke. She didn't even know whether it was compromise or resignation. "At
least, not here..."
...
Next to the Bennett Corporation was a five-star hotel, also part of the Bennett family's empire. The penthouse suite at the top was always reserved for Everett.
As soon as they stepped into the
private elevator, Selena found herself pressed against the steet wall by Everett's imposing presence. His overwhelming kisses were almost too much to bear.
Her legs went weak, her body sliding downwards. Everett caught her, letting her sit in the crook of his arm as he kissed her deeply, savoring her sweetness. When the elevator reached its destination, and the doors opened, he carried her in that embrace, striding into the room and pinning her against the door.
Selena wasn't prepared, and the pain
was making her toes curl. Tears
welled up in her eyes, her nails digging into his broad back, her
voice breaking. "Please, be gentle..."
Everett was struggling, too, sweat dripping as he clenched his jaw. He managed to say through gritted teeth, "I'm being as gentle as I can!" Selena didn't believe him for a second, suspecting that if she really let him have his way, she'd be in a world of hurt!
Regret washed over her. She didn't want to go along with this anymore, her words tumbling out. "I can't do this. Just go find someone else..."This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
