Mr. Powell Is Hunting for His Wife

Chapter 51: Developing Fragrance that Ease Insomnia

Chapter 51: Developing Fragrance that Ease Insomnia

Diana was silent.

She wondered why she would put on so much effort to return the card to Brooklyn.

Brooklyn could see that Diana was pissed as her cheeks were puffed out. A trace of warmth appeared in his ever-cold eyes.

After Diana left, Harper brought Brooklyn a piece of news.

“Mr. Powell, I’ve found something about the matter you asked me to investigate yesterday.”

The ink-black eyes with warmth just now suddenly became gloomy.

“Tell me.”

...

People in the blending section of the perfume department all knew Diana.

With the bottle of perfume named “The Necklace”, she promoted the cooperation between Powell Group and Hillvie Group.

Some of the perfumers in the department admired Diana for her gift and capability, but some of them were jealous of her.

They couldn’t understand why a perfumer who was much younger than they were could blend a bottle of perfume that could attract Mr. Powell’s attention.

Besides, Diana was way too good-looking.

Ashley Carter, the manager of the perfume department, looked at the card that represented the highest authority of the company and was handled by Diana, biting her bottom lip in jealousy.

“This way please, Anna.” Ashley returned to her gentle and graceful look as usual, returning the black card to Diana.

Watching Diana walk into the molecular laboratory, Ashley patted her desk violently.

She believed that it wouldn’t take long for Anna to be promoted above her.

Ashley had joined Powell Group several years ago. She hadn’t been promoted to the manager of the perfume department until recently. How could she tolerate to let a woman with a young pretty face only take away her power?

“Excuse me, Ms. Carter.” A female employee rushed to her with a bunch of spices. These are all the spices requested by Anna just now. I’ve taken them all here.”

Ashley took a glance of them, only to find they were all valuable spices. She was so angry that her nose twisted.

Anna wasn’t an employee of their perfume department. ‘What right does she have to use such valuable spices?’ Ashley thought to herself in anger.

Even if Anna could blend a good perfume, the share of its sales had nothing to do with their perfume department.

“Excuse me, Ms. Carter?” the female employee called her again since Ashley didn’t respond to her at all.

Ashley came back to her senses and said in a gentle tone. “Hurry up and take them into the lab. Anna is the perfume that Mr. Powell treasures the most now!”

In the molecular laboratory, Diana was dealing with the spices by using the exact instruments.

She got to know that Brooklyn was suffering from insomnia and her body scent could ease it, she had an idea to develop a perfume.

Brooklyn’s olfactory sensation was more sensitive than others. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to smell the tiny trick that she made in Mirabelle’s perfume.

While Diana concentrated on operating the instruments, she couldn’t help but think that if Brooklyn were interested in blending, probably all other perfumers would lose their jobs.

Outside the door, Ashley watched Diana’s movements through the crack on the door.

She just asked the storage to give her the list of spices that Diana asked for.

Ashley had years of experience in blending. After glancing through the list, she realized that Diana was going to develop a perfume to ease insomnia.

Thinking of that, Ashley had an idea. She asked others to get a few spices and mixed them together. Then she sent them into the molecular laboratory.

“Yes, Ms. Carter?” Dianna looked confused when seeing her.

Ashley smiled, putting the mixed spices on the table. “Anna, this is a unique spice that was developed by our department this year. If you like it, you can use it as well.”

Dianna answered politely, “Thank you so much, Ms. Carter.”

After Ashley left, Diana opened the bottle. As soon as she smelt the spice, she frowned deeply.

Casting a glance at the locked door, her crystal and pure eyes had traces of meaningful looks.

She recalled that Ms. Carter’s name was Ashley.

Ashley used such a simple trick to set her up as soon as she entered the lab today.

If it were another person, she might not suspect after smelling the mixed spices and put them into the perfume that she had blended.

However, Diana was born sensitive to smells. She could tell that there was a smell of the green mint, which could make people refreshed, behind the smells of other spices.

Knowing that she was blending a perfume to ease insomnia, Ashley deliberately gave her the spices to refresh the user.

Diana sneered and put away the spice to make it a piece of evidence.

...

A few days later, Ashley went to Diana.

The latter was cleaning up the desk that she finished using. Looking at Ashley, who rushed in with a fierce look, she curled up her lips slightly. “Hi, Ms. Carter. What can I do for you?”

Ashley crossed her arms on her chest, looking at Diana disdainfully.

“Anna, the perfume of this season of our blending section of the perfume department is missing.”

Diana paused for a few seconds and finished cleaning up the desk. She raised her head and said, “Oops, it’s a big matter. Ms. Carter, you must look into the matter seriously. Otherwise, you might be fired.”

She couldn’t understand why Ashley was still playing such a kind of trick now.

Diana rolled her eyes, not in the mood to argue with Ashley.

“Stop!” Ashley stopped Diana. “Anna, nobody except me could open the safe of the perfume department.”

Diana heaved a sigh helplessly. “Ms. Carter, since you said so, you should be the one who has taken the perfume away. Why did you come to see me?”

“You!” Ashley was too angry to utter a word. “Except me, there was only one person in the company who could open it -- Mr. Powell.”

“Then, why don’t you go to see Mr. Powell? You should ask him if he was so bored that he has come here and taken a bottle of perfume.”

Diana pushed Ashley away, ready to leave.

She had never seen such a stupid woman. Ashley wanted to set her up, but she used such a simple way.

Comparing to her, Mirabelle was more capable of framing others.

Suddenly, Ashley tugged her sleeve. “I said STOP. Haven’t you heard it?”

Ashley rushed to the door. “Are you pretending you can’t understand me? Mr. Powell will not come to the perfume department for a bottle of perfume, but Anna, you are different. You are holding the only card that has the highest authorization in the company and you can go anywhere you want. Nobody could stop you if you want anything. It’s reasonable that I think you are the suspect.”

Diana was quite tall with a strong aura.

She shook off Ashley’s hand and clicked her tongue, her red lips apart slightly. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“Ms. Carter, please be more straightforward next time. If you want to set me up, you can tell me directly. Don’t beat around the bush. I don’t have time to do that with you.”

Diana lowered her head, glancing at her wristwatch.

It was three o’clock in the afternoon. After she dealt with this woman, she needed to pick up Austin and Emily from school.

Ashley had sharp eyes and recognized that Diana was wearing Patek Philippe.

For a perfumer who just joined the company, how could she afford Patek Philippe?

Ashley once again believed that Anna became rich because she slept with Mr. Powell.

She suspected that probably some other perfumer had blended the bottle of perfume in Anna’s name after Anna played at being cute to Mr. Powell.

“Ms. Carter, since you insisted that I’ve taken your perfume, why don’t you go to Mr. Powell and make it clear?”

“Of course! That’s my plan originally.”

Ashley had already deleted the surveillance record of the room where the safe was. Even if they confronted each other, she didn’t think Anna could show any evidence to prove her innocence.
