Chapter 903
Patrick was just like a serene mountain lake now, a peaceful lake that wouldn't draw too much attention, but as long as your sight fell on it, you would feel comfortable.
Yes.
That was it.
Such an analogy was not good, but the feeling Patrick gave her was exactly like this.
Standing meters away, neither of them said a word again.
They both fell into silence. Only the wind blew past the cemetery.
The silence was broken up by the bodyguards. They finally recognized who the blind man was, and intended to catch him, "It's Patrick! Catch him! Mr. Cullen said whoever catches him will be rewarded!"
"Stop."
However, when Alice slowly turned around, all bodyguards froze.
"Mrs. Cullen!"
Alice had put a knife to her neck.
Patrick still stood there calmly. He could not see what was happening, and he didn't prepare to interfere with them.
After ensuring the bodyguards did not dare to catch Patrick, Alice turned to Patrick, "Leave here, the farther, the better."
"William is determined to see me."
Patrick replied in a calm tone with no complaint or hatred.
"You don't need to care about him. Just leave, now!"
Alice urged Patrick to leave.
She could not let William catch Patrick.
Hearing that, Patrick smiled and asked in a gentle tone, "Will he kill me?"
"I'm not sure, so I'm asking you to leave."
Alice replied while looking at Patrick's thin face, her hand still holding the knife tightly.
Alice guessed, whatever William would do to Patrick, it might be what she didn't want to see. So William kept refusing to tell her his true purpose.
If so, Alice couldn't help coming up with some bad speculations.
So she had to let Patrick leave.
"You know I must go there." Patrick held onto the leash, then under the guidance of the white dog, he walked close to her with a calm smile, "Mary's parents are there."
Despite what Zed had done didn't deserve any forgiveness, he still was Mary's parent. For Patrick, this was enough for him to go.
"With me beside him, William won't go too far. And William's real target was never them, but you."
Alice glared at Patrick.
Patrick did not show any fear when Alice pointed out that, instead, he replied to her as if they were talking about the weather, "Really? That's just nice, I want to talk with William too."
"Patrick!"
Alice frowned and called Patrick's name for the first time since they began talking here.
Hearing that, Patrick's smile froze for the first time. But just seconds later he resumed his smile fast, "Just let me do something for Mary, OK?"
"Even if you will die?"
Alice's voice trembled when she said the last word.
"It might not be bad like that. You've said you are not sure too, right?" Patrick smiled, "Moreover, so what if I die? When you have to make choices, you will definitely choose the one that will make you happy, won't you? "
So, in his eyes, he would be happy as long as he could do something for Mary, even if at a cost of his life.
He had really changed a lot.
"Then what if I disagree with it?" Alice asked, "Right now, I am putting a knife beside my neck. No one dares to stop you from leaving here safely."
"Alice, don't be like this. Please respect my decision," Patrick was gentle but firm, "Besides, this is a matter between William and me. It has nothing to do with you. You don't need to be guilty. Just let me chat with him for a while."
If only it really had nothing to do with her. Alice thought bitterly.
"Put the knife down. Be careful not to hurt yourself." Patrick persuaded Alice. He then waved the leash, "Oliver, let's go."
Hearing its master's order, the dog called Oliver immediately stood up, then started to slowly walked forward, with Patrick following behind it.
The bodyguards all stared at him nervously.
Alice slowly put down the knife and threw it to the side. She silently watched Patrick walking past her. Would such a decision truly make him happier? Patrick calmly sat into the car. After his dog lay down, he stroked its head gently. Alice sat beside him. She had so many words in mind. But when she really opened her mouth, she found she could say nothing. So she could only silently look at Patrick.
"I have hired people to take care of Mary's tomb every year, but I'm worried after taking money that person might be lazy. Can you help me keep an eye on it?" Patrick broke the silence in the car first.
What was he talking about? Was he giving his last words?
"Alright."
Alice agreed.
"Don't argue with him because of me. You two have had kids now. Even if for your
kids, you should live happily together." Patrick spoke out again.
He was referring to William.
Patrick actually advised her and William to be fine.
Alice suddenly realized that they had all changed. She had changed, so had
William, and even Patrick had changed.noveldrama
"I'm afraid of the future.'
Alice said softly, because she couldn't see the future.
"Someone will pave a path for you. Don't worry."
Patrick said calmly.
II II
Paving a path.
Alice lowered her eyes to the ring on her finger. The ring was cut into a heart shape, and was extremely beautiful.
At that moment, as if a light flashed through her mind, she suddenly understood something.
"Now I think William will not kill you." Alice smiled wryly.
She understood it now.
Patrick stroked the dog beside his feet, and upon hearing that, he smiled lightly, "I
think so too."
"Mrs. Cullen, we have arrived."
As the driver spoke, the car slowly came to a stop. In front of him was a large
hotel with many lights on and countless bodyguards.
Patrick sat quietly, after feeling that the car had stopped, he groped for the door, "I'll get off first."
"Patrick" Alice looked at him, "Can I ask you for a favor?"
"What?"
Patrick turned his head.
"Whatever William wants you to do, you don't agree with him. Could you?" Alice pleaded.
Patrick sat beside her, and after being silent for a long while, he said, "I'll try my best."
"Patrick...."
That was not enough. Alice frowned.
But Patrick no longer listened to her. He reached out to open the car door, allowing her dog to get off first, then slowly walked towards the hotel entrance.
As soon as Patrick got off the car, he was surrounded by a large number of bodyguards.
Alice was still sitting in the car, and the driver asked strangely, "Mrs. Cullen, aren't you getting out of the car?"
"No."
Alice shook her head. Even if she got off now, what she could see would just be
William insulting her adoptive parents, or Patrick.
After that, William would not let her see more things.
"Then would you like to go back? It's late."
The driver asked.
"Alright."
Alice nodded and leaned back. The driver started the car. As the car moved, the
light of the street lamp went through the window and fell on Alice's face. That was not a happy face.
"Mrs. Cullen, you might need to be happy. Anyway, the baby in your belly won't be happy if her mother isn't happy, right?"
The driver noticed Alice was in a bad mood and tried to comfort her.
"If someone is willing to do anything for you, it should be a happy thing, right?" Alice looked at the light outside the window and said softly.
"Of course." The driver said, "Just like how Mr. Cullen treats you. I guess there must be many women envy you, Mrs. Cullen."
The story of Mr. Cullen and Mrs. Cullen was just like Cinderella's fairy tale. But their story was more than that. The fairy tale ended right after the prince married Cinderella. It was said that they would "lead a happy life forever". However, many people thought if it was in the reality, due to the big difference between them, Cinderella would break up with the prince at the end. But Mr. Cullen showed them another possibility.
To be honest, for the servants of the Cullen family like him, they were just like watching a perfect fairy tale.
"Yes, he is good to me, so good."
So good that she couldn't take it anymore, and didn't know what to do. She even started to panic.
Suddenly, Alice felt a sharp pain in her chest. It was as if something had pierced her heart and she couldn't breathe.
Alice immediately reached out her hands to touch her chest, and subconsciously looked towards the direction of the hotel. The hotel was getting farther and farther away from her.
In the large hotel, the restaurant was brightly lit and the dishes were all served.
On one floor, all Alice's old neighbors were sitting together. However, they were not enjoying the dishes and chatting happily together. Instead, all of them sat with embarrassment.
Actually the atmosphere was really good at first. When the Clyne couple came, it was fine too. But after Mr. Cullen came, his words full of sarcasm to Mr. Clyne entirely soured the atmosphere.
Zed was extremely embarrassed. For him, even jumping off the hotel through the window might be better than staying here.
That was what was happening when Patrick walked in with bodyguards surrounding him.
Then the Clyne couple, Patrick, and Mr. Cullen all left. For those neighbors, to leave or to eat both looked not good now. So they could only sit with embarrassment and puzzle.
Upstairs.
The light was not turned on in the living room. Only the light from outside going through the large French windows made the room a little brighter.
Patrick was standing in front of the windows. His skinny face was calm, without a
hint of worry or nervousness, as if he was not being imprisoned.
A steady sound of footsteps came from behind him.
Patrick turned his face slightly, and heard William's cold voice, "Close the door. No
one is allowed to come in."
"Yes, Mr. Cullen."
The door was closed.
Patrick stood there quietly, listening to William walking close. William glanced
Patrick up and down coldly. Well, this blind man didn't get even a speck of dust on
his body even when being blind.
"It seems like you have done your job well as a blind person."
William said with a hint of sarcasm.
"I'm here, can you let go of Mary's parents now?" Patrick turned around to face
William. His calm was not broken down even when facing William.
"I heard that a blind person's hearing would become especially good. Is that
true?"
Instead of answering Patrick, William asked him a question.
"Maybe."
Patrick did not understand why William suddenly asked this.
"I want to see if that is true."
The moonlight shone through the French window onto William's face. He was
staring at Patrick with his lips pressing together tightly.
After a long while, William's slender legs bent and his tall figure suddenly lowered.
What do you think?
