Chapter 16 Jealousy
Chapter 16 Jealousy
Everyone was in shock and didn’t saw what Calvin and Selena was doing.
Except Rita.
Her teeth were chattering out of astonishment and anger.
“Calvin, how dare you cheat on me like that?”
Dr. Marcus saw that the old man was back to life and his conditions became stable, he fell to the
ground.
“It was really the Soul Hook and he knows all of the nine moves.”
“He didn’t steal this from me. How is that even possible?”
He knew the first three moves but he had never seen the next six moves.
The next six moves could save a man from death. This was divine and magical.
At the beginning, he was so cocky that he nearly killed the man.
The kid he looked down upon saved that man and brought him back to life. He was on the next level.
Calvin noticed Rita was staring and pushed Selena away.
“Miss Bentley, I’m glad that it worked. Doctors, the old man was still weak and vulnerable. Please take
good care of him.”
They all nodded and felt ashamed of their behaviors before.
Calvin was still so humble in front of them and respected them.
“Mr. Whitney, please rest assured, we’ll try our best to take care of him.”
Rita was amazed because she could see the admiration in their eyes.
Which Calvin had never got from others...?
“Miss Bentley, gentlemen, I still got something to do and I need to leave now.”
Calvin was about to leave and then his hand was held by someone.
He turned around and it was Dr. Marcus. He was on his knees, looking respectful and humble.
“Mr. Whitney, please take me as your student.”
Then Mr. Marcus was about to kiss his ring.
Calvin stepped aside and said, “Dr. Marcus, what are you doing?”
He didn’t even dare to look up, “I was being snobby and arrogant. I thought I was an expert ever since I
learned how to use the Soul Hook. But today I get to witness Mr. Whitney’s power and I realized how
stupid and shallow I was. Please, Mr. Whitney, teach me the other six moves. I know I am being rude
but please say yes and teach me.”
Calvin hurriedly wanted to hold him up but the man was too stubborn and didn’t want to stand up.
So he had to squat and said, “Dr. Marcus, you’re being too kind. I was just messing around and got
lucky. I’m not good enough to teach you.”
Dr. Marcus knew it would be hard to convince Calvin to teach him the Soul Hook.
“Mr. Whitney, I know you don’t believe my sincerity. In the past, I used the first three moves to save a
lot of lives. But I also failed many times. I thought it was their destiny. Today I get to see the magic of
the nine moves and I finally know how ignorant I was. Thinking of all the lives I failed to save, I realized
they wouldn’t die if it weren’t for my arrogance. I’m so regretful for that...”
Dr. Marcus was in his seventies. He was crying out of guilt and regret, which touched Calvin quite a lot.
The doctor’s job was to save lives. Every life that a doctor saved would bring him or her pride which
was more precious than money.
Likewise, every life they couldn’t save would break their spirits.
“Dr. Marcus, please get up.”
He sighed and thought he didn’t impress Calvin. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Seeing him miserable like that, Calvin smiled, “Dr. Marcus, based on your age, you could even be my
grandfather. It’s not right for you to be a kid’s student. Since you want to learn the Soul Hook, of course
I’d love to teach you.”
“What?” Dr. Marcus looked at him and was amazed.
“You’re willing to do that?”
“Yeah, sure. No matter how great the Soul Hook is, only using it to save lives can realize its value.
Otherwise, if I keep it to myself, it would be useless and meaningless.”
Dr. Marcus was overwhelmed by his words and wanted to get down on his knees again and Calvin
hastily stopped him, “Please don’t do that. If you don’t mind, we can be friends. Please don’t talk about
being my student again or else I’ll just run off.”
Dr. Marcus nodded excitedly, “Great, great. I didn’t expect to be so lucky and honorable before the day
I die.”
Calvin wrote down the spell and gave it to him. He told him if he had any questions about this, he could
always come to him.
Dr. Marcus carefully hid the spell in his pocket.
After everything was finished, Calvin checked the time and was about to leave.
“Miss Bentley, contact me anytime you need my help.”
Selena nodded and looked at him with affection.
“Okay, Calvin. If you need anything, I’ll always be there to help...”
Before Calvin could respond, Rita said jealously, “I’m gonna go. You guys take your time.”
Then she turned around and left. Calvin hurriedly followed her.
They were heading to the director’s office. Calvin suddenly felt something warm in his palm. He opened
his hand and noticed that the white light on The Yin-Yang Compass was growing stronger.
“This is...”
Calvin was excited. He could get more power once he saved a life.
This was great. He could use white light to save people and could also get more white light for that.
This created a virtuous circle.
Judging from that, he should really work in a hospital.
Rita got even angrier. In the past, once she got upset, Calvin would try everything to make her happier.
Even though she didn’t care about that, she couldn’t take the fact that he completely didn’t care about
her feelings now.
She stopped and saw Calvin smiling.
He must be savoring the moment he hugged Selena.
It was shameless of him. They hadn’t got a divorce yet.
Calvin nearly bumped into Rita. He stopped and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Rita really wanted to question him whether he cheated on her or not.
But she just couldn’t throw away her pride.
“Nothing. Before we meet Dr. Peters, you need to know that St. Louis Hospital reduced the staff and
planned to outsource its business. Today we need to get this deal done and you’d better put your
attention on this because a lot of clinics have their eyes on this deal.”
Calvin nodded, “Rest assured, I’ll definitely help you do that.”
But Rita took this the wrong way. Rita snorted, “I know, of course you will. Because you want us to get
divorced as soon as possible.”
“Well...”
“You’ll get what you want.”
Rita ran off in a huff and Calvin had to follow her.
They went into the administration building and got on an elevator. When the door opened, Calvin and
Rita were both startled.
The hall was crowded with people. Rita recognized that those were the directors of different clinics.
Calvin whispered, “Are they all here for the bidding?”
“What? You’re worried now? Afraid that you won’t be able to get a divorce?”
Calvin explained, “Of course not. After all, this is the first time for me to run errands for the Houston
family. If I mess this up, your mother is going to be mad at me. I don’t wanna be regarded as a gold-
digger.”
Rita looked at him coldly, “So it’s ‘your mother’ now? Hypocrite.”
Calvin was speechless. No matter what he said, she could always find fault with him. He should better
shut up.
Rita was even angrier when Calvin didn’t say anything. He used to be so patient with her and she
guessed that he would only be patient with Selena now.
As the atmosphere kept getting more and more awkward, a short fat man in his thirties came up.
“Sexy, you’re here for the bidding too?”
Rita was still annoyed. She turned away and ignored that fat man.
The fat guy was a little irritated, “Sexy, no need to turn me down like that. How about making friends
with me? I’m gonna introduce myself. My name is Tommy Marks and a friend of mine happens to be in
charge of this bidding...”
What he meant was pretty clear. He wanted her to butter him up.
But he was wrong about her. Rita didn’t care about the bidding at all right now.
She just snorted and walked to the elevator. Calvin asked from behind, “Where are you going?”
“I’m hungry. I wanna get something to eat.”
Calvin checked what time it was and it was about time for lunch. So he followed her to the elevator.
“Who said you can tag along? I didn’t say I want to have lunch with you.”
Calvin smiled embarrassedly, “I don’t have any money on me.”
“Well, then it’s perfect. Miss Bentley is still here. She would love to let you join her for lunch.”
Calvin chuckled, “Even if she invites me, I won’t go. I’ve got a wife.”
“You still remember that?”
Even though her tone was still cold, she didn’t chase him away.
