Not Your Doormat Anymore

Chapter 29

Casey's actions left Kourtney at a loss for words. She couldn't even describe how she felt, but the look she gave me was filled with sympathy.

"It's all in the past. But she holds grudges. Be careful when you go out, just in case."

After reminding Kourtney, I ended up running into Casey again not long after.

I had already blocked all her contact info, but that didn't stop her from reaching out to my friends, trying to get them to pass messages or find out where I was.

Luckily, I had already told them everything that she cheated first-and they believed me. No one was willing to help her.

She even went to my family's house, only to find we had moved. I had also warned the apartment management to keep her out.

With nowhere else to turn, she ended up registering at the hospital under my schedule.

I was still seeing patients when she walked into my office. The moment I saw her, I frowned.

Before, it would have taken tens of thousands of dollars in gifts just to get her to show up. But now that I no longer liked her, she kept showing up uninvited, more frequently than when we were actually together.

Watching her change up her tactics every time, trying to seduce me or reminisce about the "good old days", I felt absolutely nothing.

"This is a hospital," I said coldly. "Don't you feel ashamed of acting like this here? Casey, just seeing you makes me sick."

Her hand, which had been reaching for the buttons on her shirt, froze in midair. She looked at me with wounded eyes, her voice trembling. "Jace, how can you say that to me? I... I just want you to forgive me!"noveldrama

"Don't waste your energy," I said, eyes on the file in front of me. "I'm never going to forgive you."

But just then, my office door was thrown open. Andrew stormed and glared at me with anger as he breathed heavily.

"Jace! Casey already humbled

herself to apologize-why won't you forgive her? She used to be so

proud. Do you know how much

courage it took for her to low net

herself like this? You're just brushing her off like she's nothing. Are you even a man?"

He had thought that once Casey and I broke up, she would come running to him. But ever since the failed wedding, it was like she had become obsessed, barely talking to Andrew and constantly showing up to see me. sŵnovel

Clearly, he was starting to lose it. He had followed her to the hospital and walked in just in time to catch this scene. Now, he was glaring at me like I had trampled her feelings.

Meanwhile, Casey stayed silent, crying quietly, as if she were the victim.

I watched their little act unfold and clapped slowly. "You two put on such a great show. Honestly, it's a waste that you both are not actors."

"What the hell do you mean by that?" Andrew snapped while helping Casey to her feet.

I smiled at him. "If you two like to act, that's your business. But don't expect the rest of us to join you."

Just as Andrew was about to explode again, I raised a hand. "This is my office, and you're disrupting my work. Can you both leave now, or should I call security to throw you out?"

Andrew shot me one last hateful glare, then turned to Casey. "Cass, stop trying to talk to him. He's never going to listen. Let's go. We don't need to take this!"

Casey glanced at me with her

tear-filled eyes again, but I wasn't looking at her anymore. I had

stopped paying attention the moment I finished speaking. She bit her lip stubbornly, refusing to leave.

Everyone in our circle already knew about her and Andrew. Their reputations were

in ruins. No matter where they went now, they would be judged.
