“I’m also pregnant. Pregnant with Lucas’ child. Next week, the two of us are even going to have a wedding. If you have time, don’t forget to come.”
Upon hearing those words, throughout the journey, Deasy felt like cursing continuously. Honestly, she was furious to hear the news that Lucas would be having a wedding party in just a few days. Not with her. But with the woman who had intentionally approached and looked down on her earlier.
Damn!
If we rewind about four to five months, Deasy’s life could be considered peaceful. Yes, despite feeling hurt because she had to face the fact that Daniel the Sneaky MagigCom was openly cheating, and even dumped her, at least Deasy’s life was still within reasonable limits.
It all started because of the luck-nut alcohol she had sipped at Daniel’s wedding party. If only she hadn’t met Lucas and been brought there by his subordinate, she might not have ended up having a one-night stand with a random person. Let alone getting pregnant like she was now.
Deasy remembered how hard it was for her to refuse Lucas’ offer to take responsibility. But, being a Jablay at heart, she eventually succumbed to the act of service that Lucas intentionally showed every day.
Moreover, anyone would eventually give in if they were treated well every day. They were cared for, protected, loved, and even tried to fulfill all their requests. Especially since before, Deasy had never been treated like a queen by a partner. She became more and more enchanted, and in the end, she accepted when Lucas invited her to have a serious relationship and agreed to get married soon.
Originally, Deasy was happy because she was about to get married soon. Building a family like she had always dreamed of. And raising their future child together.
But, because of one incident, everything fell apart. The carefully laid out plans were now in ruins. Worse still, Lucas was already disappointed. He seemed reluctant to continue their relationship.
Deasy had tried hard to persuade him. But Lucas continued to refuse. Just as she was still grieving over having to end their relationship, she suddenly heard the news that Lucas was going to get married soon. Not to her. But to Devina, the woman who had been matched with him from the beginning.
To clarify this news, Deasy went to the Quantum Tech building. She intended to ask directly about the truth of Lucas and Devina’s wedding plans that would take place next week.
“Felix!”
Entering the lobby and about to walk towards the elevator, Deasy accidentally spotted Lucas’ assistant who had just come down from the fifth floor. Waving intentionally, Deasy asked Felix to come over.
“Ms. Deasy?” Felix replied with a puzzled expression.
Of course, the man was puzzled. As far as he knew, Deasy had resigned and no longer needed to come to the Quantum Tech building. Especially since Deasy had been relieved of her duties. So, there was no need to settle any work commitments or unfinished job-related tasks.
“Where are you going, Ms. Deasy?” Felix asked then.
“I want to meet Lucas. Is he in his office? There’s something we need to discuss.”
Felix shook his head right away. As a sign of the answer to Deasy’s question.
“Mr. Lucas is not in his office.”
“Is Lucas having a meeting outside with a client?”
It was reasonable that Lucas was not on the premises. Especially since it was a busy time. Usually, when he wasn’t attending a meeting, Lucas often had meetings with some clients outside the office.
“Mr. Lucas does have business outside. But it’s not a meeting with a client. If I’m not mistaken, he has an appointment with the wedding organizer to check the venue and other equipment.”
Deasy was taken aback. She was sure that what Felix had just told her was true. Lucas’ assistant had clearly mentioned the wedding organizer and other details related to the wedding.
“W-what did you say? Lucas has a meeting with a wedding organizer? So, Lucas is really getting married next week?”
In response to these questions, Felix immediately nodded. Instead of hiding or denying, he confirmed what Deasy had just asked him.
“Yes, Ms. Mr. Lucas is indeed getting married next week. I’m currently double-checking the invitations and the list of guests.”
Felix said, pointing to the stack of papers he was holding. After Deasy examined it carefully, she realized that what Lucas’s assistant had been holding was wedding invitations. In fact, she could clearly see Lucas’s name written on the front of the invitation, along with the wedding date.
“Is the event completely confirmed?”
Felix nodded repeatedly. There was no doubt in his expression.
“Yes, it’s absolutely confirmed. Mr. Andreas even wanted it to happen quickly. That’s why Mr. Lucas’s schedule this week is really tight. He’s checking the venue, the invitations, even the wedding attire fittings. And they’ve been seriously discussing the honeymoon plans for the past few days. Mr. Lucas has also scheduled some days off in the near future.”
Deasy took several deep breaths. It felt suffocating to hear what Felix had just told her.
“May I know where Lucas is planning to hold the wedding and reception?”
Truly, Deasy was very curious. She just wanted to know where the man who had a brief relationship with her would be having his wedding party.
If the storm hadn’t hit, she might have been the one busy with wedding preparations right now.
“At the Raffles Hotel. If I calculate, there are quite a few invitations, more than 1000.”Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Deasy remained silent. Besides being at a loss for words, she was also unsure how to respond. Whether she should feel sad, hurt, but it would be pointless. Lucas really didn’t want to return or have a relationship with her anymore.
“Ms. Deasy…” Felix called out when he noticed Deasy had remained silent for a while. “Ms. Deasy, are you okay?”
Deasy nodded repeatedly. Although she felt weak, she had to make sure she was okay.
“Yes, I’m fine.”
“If Ms. Deasy wants, you can come to Mr. Lucas’s wedding next week. I’ll send the official invitation to Ms. Deasy’s address.”
“Is it really okay for me to attend Lucas’s wedding?”
Felix smiled in response to Deasy’s question.
“Why not? The more guests, the better. It means more people to pray for them. Besides, I’m sure Ms. Deasy would like to come and offer your best wishes as well, right?”
Deasy remained silent. She wondered whether it was necessary for her to attend Lucas’s wedding next week. She questioned in her heart whether she should offer her congratulations to the man who had once filled her heart.
