Chapter 964: To Give
Chapter 964: Chapter 964: To Give
He Da and the other two froze.
Reporters swarmed over—it was breaking news.
"Mr. He, according to Mr. Zhuo’s statement, the three of you spent ten billion on a meal together, meaning you alone covered 2.5 billion. Mr. He, you truly are lavishly wealthy."
"Mr. Fan, with such grand gestures, does this mean you’re teaming up with the Zhuo Corporation—or perhaps looking to be swallowed up by them?"
"Hold on, Mr. Zhuo must be mistaken. The three of us were merely here to discuss business with Mr. Zhuo. We never said anything like that. If you don’t believe us, you can summon the restaurant manager to confront us.
All those remarks were made by Mr. Zhuo himself and have nothing to do with us. We’re simply discussing business with Mr. Zhuo—there’s no obligation or responsibility for us to bear this expense."
He Da was incredibly displeased.
Why should he suddenly shoulder 2.5 billion for no reason?
Even if he partnered with the Zhuo Corporation in a business venture, the benefits he’d reap wouldn’t even come close to 2.5 billion. And now with just a few careless words, the three of them were dragged into the mess.
7.5 billion!
Good grief, what a lofty imagination!
I spit in disgust!
They weren’t pushovers either.
Fan and Li quickly chimed in, stating this had nothing to do with them.
The reporters, as excited as flies circling blood, were ecstatic—this was explosive content.
The scene descended into chaos right there.
Such hot news, such riveting intrigue—it overwhelmed the senses.
The excitement left the reporters red-nosed.
Fan and Li nodded enthusiastically—of course, they certainly weren’t fools.
Whatever grudges Zhuo Tang had with others had nothing to do with them!
Zhuo Tang’s nose was about to twist from anger—these ungrateful traitors!
Who was it mere moments ago stoking the flames? If it weren’t for these fools egging him on, would he have lost his temper like this?
"Mr. Zhuo, Mr. Fan and Mr. Li claim this expense has nothing to do with them. Would you care to elaborate? Or are you saying Zhuo Corporation will single-handedly cover the ten billion?"
The reporters weren’t about to miss Zhuo Tang’s increasingly colorful facial expressions.
Camera flashes fired constantly.
"No comment. Thank you all—let’s resolve this matter quietly, shall we?" Zhuo Tang gestured, forcing the hotel manager to lead his staff in holding the reporters back at the door. The heavy doors slammed shut, bringing a temporary silence to the restaurant, even if a throng of reporters clustered behind the glass doors, snapping away incessantly. noveldrama
At least they couldn’t disrupt the people inside anymore.
Zhuo Tang, relieved they left, plopped onto the chair across from Zhuo Lin.
"Zhuo Lin, you’re impressive—your friends are impressive too. Young people—fearless like calves who haven’t met a tiger yet. But don’t forget—you bear the Zhuo surname. Zhuo Corporation is in shambles because of your antics. Do you truly feel no guilt? This is your father’s legacy—does it make you proud to watch everything fall apart?" Zhuo Tang pontificated grandly, laying down moral platitudes.
Ten billion wasn’t easy to scrape together.
"Uncle, please stop joking. I was already kicked out of the Zhuo Family. What does the family’s honor or disgrace have to do with me?"
Zhuo Lin caught He Weng’s encouraging gaze. Those two men had stirred up Hong Kong Island’s media circus for him. This time, he’d made headlines. If he kept cowering and hiding in the shadows, even he wouldn’t respect himself.
That wasn’t something a real man would do.
Zhuo Tang sneered, "Zhuo Lin, what exactly do you want? Speak up. As long as it isn’t outrageous, I’ll grant it—but forget about your parents’ burial or their belongings. That’s out of the question—their items are with your grandfather, not me."
Clinging stubbornly to arrogance even in denial.
"Fine, then fork over ten billion! Mr. Zhuo wouldn’t go back on his word, would he?"
He Weng replied leisurely.
If Zhuo Tang wanted to negotiate, he should at least bring something of value to the table.
"Young man, this matter has nothing to do with you—keep out of it."
Zhuo Tang had disliked He Weng for ages.
Someday, he’d deal with these troublemakers. He wasn’t in a rush—money could bend destiny. With enough of it, he could easily squash a few youngsters.
"Oh, is that so? Good! Zhuo Lin, go ahead—you call the shots here."
Being looked down on? That was nothing.
He Weng had endured decades of disdain—for someone of his background, being dismissed as low-class was par for the course.
"I’ve made my terms clear. If Uncle can’t meet them, then bring out ten billion!" Zhuo Lin decisively declared.
There would be no compromise on this. Now that things had blown up, he’d sever ties entirely with the Zhuo Family—why feign devotion as a filial son?
Zhuo Tang’s face darkened with fury. Hard as he tried, his words fell on deaf ears—this was obstinacy to the extreme.
"Zhuo Lin! Are you determined to ruin us completely?"
Zhuo Lin sneered, "Uncle, I’m simply taking what rightfully belongs to me. How is that destruction?"
"Damn you, Zhuo Lin! Just wait—I’ll settle this with you someday!" Zhuo Tang threatened venomously.
"Give it to him!"
An aged voice pierced the room.
Zhuo Tang jumped in surprise.
Turning around, he saw the glass doors pushed open. Zhuo Elder strode in with bodyguards by his side, his hair streaked with white yet his gaze razor-sharp. His commanding presence radiated an air of dignity befitting a patriarch.
Zhuo Tang leapt to his feet.
"Dad, why are you here?" He rushed over to support the old man’s seat.
Zhuo Elder swatted Zhuo Tang’s hand aside, seating himself formally across from Zhuo Lin.
Zhuo Lin sprang upright, fumbling awkwardly. While he harbored little affection for this grandfather, it was still his late father’s flesh-and-blood parent—he couldn’t treat him as he treated just anyone else.
Deep down, he still considered himself a Zhuo Family member.
"Why am I here? To see what other foolishness you idiots are capable of committing!"
Zhuo Elder had been dining next door with an old friend when pesky reporters swarmed in, their questions focused entirely on Zhuo Tang’s "ten billion for a single meal" absurdity.
The old man shooed the reporters away and immediately began investigating, discovering the ridiculous mess his son had created.
Ten billion for one meal!
His urge to swat Zhuo Tang within an inch of his life was overwhelming. Could anyone possibly be this idiotic? Apparently, yes.
The media already had the story. Tomorrow’s headlines would be ablaze with Zhuo Corporation’s "ten billion extravagance."
The old man urgently sought to mitigate damages. Before the news hit, they needed to prepare—at all costs, Zhuo Corporation’s stock couldn’t wobble.
Otherwise, the fallout from a single scandal could cascade into disaster. The Zhuo Corporation could collapse entirely.
Thus, this moment unfolded.
"Really give it?"
Zhuo Tang couldn’t take it.
Like money falling from the sky—who else but Zhuo Lin could pull this off?
"Give it! As the Zhuo Corporation, our word is law. Call a press conference—right now. Ten billion, not a penny short, will be handed over!"
The old man’s swift decisiveness earned He Weng and the others’ admiration—such resolve was no common trait.
