Chapter 36 FREDA WHITLOCK I watched Francisco’s eyes flutter shut after I started to hum a random tune. It was to help me stop myself from crying, but it had made him fall deeper asleep. When I stopped and he didn’t open his eyes, I stood up from his bed side and pulled the duvet over him. He muttered something but didn’t wake up, so I turned off the light and left the room quietly. I walked out into the hallway and wiped my eyes as the tears filled them again. I met Lyra in the living room and I wanted to hide my tears from her. But she had already noticed me. “Hey…” She said as she stood up and walked towards me. “What’s wrong? Why are your eyes so puffy? Have you been crying?” She asked with a look of great concern. I started to s**b again and she pulled me into her arms as a look of panic crossed her face. I cried a lot. I had been crying a lot. It was shameful. S**d too. But I could not help it and that made everything even worse for me. “Tell me, Freeds. What’s wrong?” She asked and I pulled away from her to wipe my eyes. “Cisco talked about someone at his party saying something about his dad. Now he’s asking me about his own dad,” I cut everything short for her. “I don’t know what to tell him. I really don’t. It kills me that I have to keep him away from his father. That makes me a bad person to both of them but I’m doing it to Chapter 30 protect my son. What else can I possibly do?” I wept. 1288 Wouchers Lyra shook her head and hugged me again. I didn’t really need. comfort. I just needed to let all of my sorrow out, but I let her hold me. *Hey, it’s going to be okay. It’s really going on be okay, believe me.” She said and I shook my head, pulling away from her once again as I started to pace around the room. She looked at me worriedly. “What if he asks again? What am I going to tell him? He seemed really curious and sad.” I said in aAll content is © N0velDrama.Org.

low voice. She shook her head and took a step towards me.”He is just a child, Freda. Children ask funny questions all the time. He’ll probably forget about it before tomorrow,” she said in an attempt to stop all of my worries. “I doubt it, Lyra,” I said, wiping my eyes and taking deep breaths so I would be able to pull myself together. She took my hands in hers and looked at me in the eyes. I avoided her eyes. Maybe I did not deserve the comfort she was trying to offer. Maybe I deserved to suffer for depriving my son from having his father… For mostly selfish reasons. “He will. I promise,” she said and nodded. She pulled my in for for another hug and I let her hold me. We stayed that way several seconds until I was not hiccuping from my tears anymore. “What did Kaiden come here for?” She asked, leading me to one of the sofa’s and taking a seat. She pulled me into the seat 17. beside her and pulled me against her shoulder. I leant my head there and ignored the way my heart **d a beat in my chest at the mention of his name. I opened my mouth to speak but she stopped me. “Hold on,” she said and got up from the seat, hurrying to the kitchen to get a glass of water for herself and a glass of yogurt for me. She knew I loved yogurt. Goddess… I loved her. I love her. What was I going to do without Lyra? What would happen to me. If I ever lost her for any reason? My best friend in the whole world… “Go on,” she said after she handed me my glass of yogurt. I took a sip and ran my fingers over the glass of the cup before. speaking. “Just like I told you earlier, I met him in the kitchen. I hurt my arm,” I said and I only remembered the small throbbing pain in my arm. The pain in my chest had

overshadowed it and now that I was feeling somewhat calm, it was mostly gone. “Because he grew angry at the fact that I had denied Francisco being his child and I was trying to hide it from him. He seemed to have lost control for a moment and when he walked towards me, I thought he was trying to attack me. But I tripped and fell and hurt myself. Who knows. He could have hurt me in worse ways than the glass had,” I chuckled and I heard her audibly clench her teeth. I continued. “After you left, I passed out from the blood loss,” I said, avoiding telling her that I had asked her to leave because I was fearing for her well-being if she disrespected the Alpha. 11:30 1 298 Vouchers “I woke up and he insisted on having a conversation with me in my room.” She spoke immediately. “Did he try anything??” She questioned. “No Lyra, I wouldn’t let him,” I smiled and took another sip of my yogurt. “He wants to be a father figure in Francisco’s life. I was going to object, in fact, I did. But he said that I can not stop him. He’s insisting, Lyra. He is going to take my son away from me.” I whispered the last part. “This is my worst nightmare. This is everything I was trying to protect Francisco from,” I said. “Safiya is going to put her dirty eyes on my son and only the goddess knows what Georgina is going to do when she hears it from Safiya,” I said, trying unsuccessfully to keep the tremor out of my voice. “And don’t you dare blame yourself for making me stay. This is not your fault in any way. I made my choice. I chose to stay and I’m going to go through with it,” I said, turning to glare at her because I felt her body tense against me at my words and I naturally knew that she would blame herself. She smiled at me weakly. “This is an absolute nightmare,” she said. “I don’t want to have anything to do with him but it seems like I’m going to be seeing him a lot, since he is going to be coming to see Francisco whether I allow it or not,” I said sadly. “This is bad. This is really bad,” Lyra said and I could only nod in agreement.
