It turned out that the bangle was something Anderson had bought from an auction.
Mayra realized that this ruby bangle was made from the rarest red beryl crystal. Its starting price was the cheapest among the items here–30 million dollars.
Mayra closed the catalog and handed it back to Anderson. “Never mind! All of the things are too
expensive. Looking at all those zeros is making me dizzy. Andy, can I go for a walk? It’s so boring just sitting here.” Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Anderson glanced at the expensive watch on his wrist. “The auction will end in one and a half hours. Don’t go too far and be back by 10:30 pm.”
Mayra made an “OK” hand gesture.
“Do you want Shane to take you?”
“No need, Andy. I know the way.”
The club was located at the Braun center of Candor City, right next to the largest Braun beach. Many people were strolling on the Braun bridge. Mayra followed the crowd and stumbled upon a bustling street. Walking through the crowd, Mayra saw a vendor selling cotton candy. She touched her pockets and found only three coins. She had forgotten to bring her wallet.
Just then, she noticed someone across the street, and her eyes lit up.
“Why is Spark Technologies organizing this competition too? Could it be that they’re coming for our project? Besides, wouldn’t it be bad if we abandoned Nexus Tech’s project now?”
“What’s bad about it? Spark Technologies offered such generous terms, and even the mentors in the University of Belchester think it’s a good opportunity.”
“Alright, you two. Stop debating. Let Gordon say something.” Sydney Langford turned to look at the person beside her.
“Let’s discuss it later.” As soon as Gordon said that, his phone rang. “I’ll take this call. You guys go ahead.”
Sydney said, “Sure. We’ll wait for you.”
Gordon answered the phone, and before he could speak, a girl’s voice came through the receiver. Gordon, guess where I am right now.”
“Where?”
“You’re not even going to try to guess? That’s no fun! Gordon, turn around.”
Samuel joked, “What’s with that smile? Is it Mayra?”
Sydney was intrigued. “Mayra? Who’s that?”
Gordon turned around, and amidst the moving crowd he saw her. Standing not far away from a cotton candy stall was a girl with a ponytail. She was wearing a light–colored dress. In her hands held two sticks of cotton candy. She was holding the phone with her other hand and smiling brightly.
The usually cold–faced Gordon was now smiling, and even the icy air around him seemed to dissipate.
Sydney asked, “Who is she?”
The classmates participating in the competition with Gordon also saw the girl waving at him.
Sydney had never seen this gentle side of Gordon before.
Gordon said, “You guys go ahead.”
After saying that, he walked toward Mayra.
Samuel put his hands on his hips. “Hey, this heartless guy. We were supposed to hang out together, but he ditched us for his girlfriend.”
Sydney asked, “That girl just now is his girlfriend? She looks quite pretty, very innocent–looking.”
Samuel smiled and said, “Gordon has been after Mayra for a long time. It looks like his hard work has finally paid off. Now that he has a girlfriend, he’s forgotten about his buddies. We shouldn’t have brought him out.”
Sydney raised an eyebrow. “Why don’t we invite her to join us?”
“No way. After Mayra transferred schools, Gordon has practically been living in front of his computer. It’s rare for him to meet her like this, so let’s not disturb them.”
