Mayra didn’t want to become Gordo burden in the future. Whatever he couldn’t accomplish, she wanted to complete it for him. She didn’t have spare time to do anything else.
After her morning classes, she went to the cafeteria for lunch. She usually sat alone.
She joined this school later than everyone else. In the beginning, many people approached her, but she ignored everyone.
Eventually, they stopped trying to befriend her.
They already had their own social circles, which she struggled to fit in.
She wasn’t bothered by it as she had no time to waste on these people.
“Don’t you feel lonely eating alone?” Serena sat down in front of Mayra with her food tray. “After a few interactions, we should be friends by now, right?”
Mayra remained quiet and continued eating her meal.
On the contrary, Serena kept talking. “Why don’t you want to talk to me? Do you look down on me like they do?”
Mayra kept her head down and didn’t respond. But she knew many had heard Serena’s words. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
Many people looked over.
“I could approach your brother in Candor City last time because I intentionally let him know that we go to the same school. He asked me about you and your situation in school.”
Serena was eating her salad with a fork. When she looked up, she saw Mayra finally looking at her. “Mayra, considering the way you’re looking at me… you seem afraid of your brother?”
She added, “Let me guess, are you worried that he’ll find out about you and Gordon?
“The richer a man is, the more possessive he gets! With someone as handsome and wealthy as your brother, I’d die happily in his bed! He’s the most good–looking and charming man I’ve ever seen. Don’t you feel tempted when facing him every day?”
After finishing her meal, Mayra put down her cutlery and got up to leave.
Serena didn’t mind. With a meaningful smile, she rested her head on her hand as she watched Mayra walk away.
Mayra decided to spend the remaining two and a half hours of her lunch break in the library. She sat undisturbed in a quiet corner.
Ten minutes before the break ended, she left the library. Along the way, she texted Gordon, but he didn’t reply to it for a long while.
The afternoon classes ended in the blink of an eye.
“C–Can we walk together?”
After putting the books into her backpack, Mayra raised her head. ” Are you talking to me?”
“N–No…”
Mayra nodded, wondering if she needed anything from her.
Mayra was the first to leave the classroom.
She saw Serena at the school exit again. She wore a black helmet
and got onto a motorcycle. A young man with silver hair, who looked to be about the same age as Serena, was riding it. With Serena hugging his waist, they sped off.
As soon as Mayra got into the front passenger seat, she switched on her phone and saw that Gordon still hadn’t replied to her. She started to worry if something had happened to him.
“Did my brother go to the office today?” Mayra asked. “Mr. Barlow…”
