Chapter 1520
Skylar and the others had anticipated that Finn might approach Janine, but they hadn't expected him to act so quickly. He sought her out early in the morning, without even waiting a single day.
Since it was her day off, Janine had stayed home until 9:00 am before stepping out to buy groceries. There was a farmers' market just a short walk from her complex, and she often took the opportunity on her free days to visit it. Stocking up on fresh vegetables and meats saved her from having to make multiple trips throughout the week.
Janine had only walked a short distance from her complex when someone approached her directly, blocking her path.
"Janine, it's me."
At first, Finn didn't recognize her. Janine had undergone a dramatic transformation.
The woman in front of him bore no resemblance to the simple, rural homemaker from 20 years ago. She now exuded an air of sophistication and looked younger and more stylish than he had imagined.
But her face there was no way he would have mistaken it. It was the same face that had once convinced him to marry her. Back then, it had been her looks that caught his attention.
Because of his current wife, Finn had deliberately avoided thinking too much about Janine's life. He had only looked into the children, assuming Janine would be no more than a dowdy old woman dependent on them for support.
What he hadn't expected was to see someone who carried herself like a high-powered professional, someone who seemed more like a corporate executive than the woman he had left behind.
When Janine saw Finn, she froze in shock. For a moment, she thought she was seeing a ghost.
"F-Finn," she stammered, staring at him in disbelief. She struggled to process the sight of a man she had believed was gone forever.
The years had left their mark on him. Despite his aged appearance, she recognized the face of the man she had once lived with. Those youthful days as a married couple were still etched in her memory. After the initial wave of shock, she quickly regained her composure.
On the other hand, Finn found himself staring at her, unable to look away. It took all his effort to snap back to reality.
"Yes, it's me," he said, nodding.
Janine's face turned pale, and her mind buzzed with confusion. She struggled to calm herself as the unexpected encounter shook her deeply.
Someone Janine thought she would never see again in her lifetime was now standing right in front of her. "You..."
Finn glanced at the people walking past them, then pointed toward a nearby café. "Let's go inside for coffee. We can talk properly there, alright?"

Janine's mind was a mess. She couldn't even begin to process why Finn had sought her out. No-this didn't make sense.
Finn had died in an accident years ago. His body was never recovered. She wondered how he could have suddenly reappeared after 20 years.
She wondered where he had been all these years.
By the time they sat down in the café, Janine had somewhat calmed down, though her head was now filled with endless questions.
Finn asked her what she wanted to drink.noveldrama
Janine shook her head. "Just order for yourself. I've been having stomach issues lately, so I'm avoiding coffee."
Hearing this, Finn didn't push and ordered just one cup for himself.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air.
Finn took a deep breath, savoring the scent, before meeting Janine's confused gaze. "I know you must have a million questions right now. You want to know where I've been, what i've been through, and why I never came back to find you."
