Millie cast a meaningful glance at Layla. She wanted to refuse but was at a loss for words.
The people around them nodded in agreement, saying, “This Aspher is a real game–changer. Ms. Caldwell, you must thank this person properly.”
“Yes, our research project is expected to make progress because of it. You should definitely express your gratitude!”
Layla joked, “Did you hear that? It’s everyone’s wish.”
Millie smiled and nodded, showing that she had heard them. As she left the lab, the researchers made a point to thank her again.
On her way home, Millie called Marvin and said casually, “Could you arrange a meeting with Paxton for me?”
Given Paxton’s age, she figured it was appropriate to address him by his first name.
“What’s up? Are you perhaps interested in this kid?” Marvin teased.
Millie clicked her tongue in frustration. “Seriously, Marvin? He’s so young, and I’m significantly older. How could you suggest that?”
Marvin chuckled but didn’t respond.
After hanging up, Millie, in an unusually good mood, decided to visit a small mall for some shopping.
Upon reaching the third floor, she overheard someone saying, “You don’t get it. Those two are truly in love! Ms. Caldwell was so persistent that Mr. Greer had no choice but to marry her.”
“Mr. Greer has put up with her for years. In my opinion, he has certainly done more than enough,” another person chimed in.
Millie’s expression darkened as she stared at the sales associates. However, she soon composed herself and approached them, acting like she hadn’t heard anything.

When the two sales associates spotted Millie, they immediately rushed over to greet her.
Millie flashed a polite smile and asked, “What new items have you got in recently?”
Although they had been gossiping about Millie just moments before, they were quick to assist her with enthusiasm. After all, they weren’t going to miss out on a sale.
One of them nodded and excitedly introduced the new items, “Ms. Caldwell, take a look over here. These
are all new arrivals.”
“I’ll take these two. Have them delivered to my place,” Millie said lightly as she pointed to two bags.
The sales associate asked cautiously, “Ms. Caldwell, the address we have on the file is still the Greer residence. Where should we send these now?”
It was only then that Millie realized it had been some time since her last visit, and the address was still
registered at Winston’s villa.
Fortunately, the sales associate reminded her. Otherwise, the delivery would have gone to the villa, which would have been awkward.
Millie thanked her and updated her address. As she was about to turn and leave, she saw two familiar figures walking in from the entrance. They were Joanna and Winston.
Joanna wasn’t surprised to see Millie, but Winston hesitated and frowned slightly upon noticing her.
Millie pressed her lips together. She showed no intention of greeting them and turned to look at the bags.
Before the sales associate could pick up the bag, Joanna pointed at it and asked Winston, “Win, what do you think of this bag?”
Winston nodded, his tone calm as his gaze instinctively lingered on Millie. “It’s not bad.”
Joanna couldn’t help but glance at him, then followed his line of sight to Millie. In an instant, her expression turned cold. NôvelDrama.Org © content.
It was the same every time. Whenever Millie was present, Winston’s attention was inevitably drawn to her. He had never been this fixated on her before.
“I want this bag. Will you buy it for me?” Joanna clung to Winston’s arm and playfully shook it. Her voice was soft and coquettish, making it hard for him to refuse.
Millie cast a quick look at the pair. Right then, her gaze inadvertently met Winston’s. He looked worn out, lacking his usual vitality. Yet, his striking appearance was undeniable.
Even if he weren’t the CEO of Greer Group, Millie believed he would never have to face hardship. His looks alone were more than enough to ensure his comfort.
