Chapter 43 Do You Think I'm Old
Chapter 43 Do You Think I'm Old
Thirty minutes had passed, but neither Spencer nor Fiona spoke on the way.
It was clear to her that he was angry. But she couldn't care less about him at that moment. All she
could think about was the necklace she designed. How did it find its way to Ryan's neck?
"Fiona, did you design the necklace Ryan was wearing?" Spencer finally broke the silence once they
got into the basement elevator.
"I... I don't know." A shiver ran down her spine.
"You don't know?" Spencer snorted. "Can't you recognize your own work? Or is it because you merely
plagiarized an existing design that's already out in the market?"
"Why would I copy an existing design?" Fiona protested. But seeing the smile in Spencer's eyes, she
couldn't help but grow frustrated. She clenched her fists and said firmly, "I don't know why the necklace
is on his neck."
"Then why did you design a necklace for men? Did you do it for him? How long have you known each
other?" Spencer looked at her as if he was interrogating the suspect to a crime.
The tension between them was broken by the sound of the elevator arriving at their floor.
Fiona rushed out as soon as the door opened.
"Hey, Fiona!" Spencer called out and ran to follow her. He grabbed her arm and demanded, "Answer
me!"
"Why should I answer you?" Fiona blurted as she tried to break free from his grip. "Listen, Spencer.
What I design is my own business, and it's none of yours who I give it to. Why should I tell you?"
"Because I'm your husband!"
"I'm sorry. I don't want to talk about this." Fiona's face darkened.
"Then what do you want to talk about? Or better yet, who?" Spencer took a step closer to Fiona. "Is it
Ryan?"
"Don't involve other people in this!" Fiona shouted angrily. "I don't want anything to do with you. I have
barely started attending university, and you've already ruined it for me! At this point, I know I can no
longer resist you, but don't I even get the right to complain a little?"
"What's so interesting about that necklace, that earned him your rage? He's just a kid you know. We
are his seniors."
Just then, Spencer was reminded of Eric's words. "Do you think I'm old?" he asked, clearly taken
aback.
For a moment, Fiona was speechless. She didn't understand why Spencer was asking this all of a
sudden. But in her rage, she blurted out, "Yes! I do think you're old! You're nine years older than me!
You will be almost thirty when I turn twenty. By the time I'm thirty, you'll be an old man. When I turn
seventy, you'll probably be dead! You..."
"When I die, I will drag you down with me!" Spencer coldly interrupted her.
Fiona's heart jolted as she looked at Spencer. She could tell that a storm of emotions was brewing in
his eyes.
Spencer slammed the door with a loud bang, as if he didn't mind if it broke into pieces.
Fiona stood rooted in the same spot, looking dazed.
At Wen family residence, Ryan had just arrived from school.
He rushed back home knowing that his father and brother would be back for dinner.
His mother, Elise Zhou, was waiting at home when he arrived. She was a weak woman whose plain
character didn't change despite being the family hostess for more than ten years. Seeing Ryan walk
into the living room, she remarked, "Oh, you're early today!"
"Yes." Ryan nodded. "I'm a little tired, Mom. I'll just head upstairs and rest for a bit."
"Okay, go ahead." Elise nodded.
Ryan was about to go up the stairs when he heard the main door open behind him. A person walked in
just as he turned to look.
The man was dressed in a handsome suit and had the same height and look as Ryan. His face looked
like a delicate sculpture and his dark eyes were like deep pools of water. His lips curved into a slight
smile that made him look even more mysterious.
"Charles," Ryan called.
"Yes?" The man named Charles Wen nodded in his direction before turning to greet Elise. "Hello, Aunt
Elise."
"Oh, you're back." Elise turned a little uncomfortable at the sight of him.
"Yes, Father said he would come back for dinner tonight." Charles then looked at Ryan. "Come meet
me in the study. There's something I want to ask you."
Despite looking confused, Ryan nodded politely.
Having reached the study, Charles took off his jacket and placed it on a nearby stool. He was
unbuttoning his cuffs when he invited Ryan to sit down.
"No, thank you." Ryan shook his head. "I know you won't waste too much time talking to me."
Charles lips curved into a smile. "Then I'll get to the point. I heard from the company manager that you
approved an entry in our jewelry design competition and recommended the designer for internship in
the company. I heard you even bought off her work. Is this true?"
"Yes." Ryan nodded. "It was before you came back from abroad. Is there a problem?"
"None at all." Charles shrugged. "I'm just curious because you've never wanted anything to do with the
business before. Are you finally interested in succeeding the business?"
"As long as you're there, I'm sure the company will be prosperous. I don't really care about it," Ryan
said flatly.
"Then... don't you care about this Fiona, too?" Charles gave him a meaningful look. "You bought her
work and invited her to join the company. I haven't seen you in two years and I'm welcomed with news
that my brother is in love!"
'In love?'
There was a trace of sorrow and loss in Ryan's eyes when he lowered his head.
"Why don't you ask her to start her internship this week?" Charles pretended not to see the sudden
change in Ryan's expression. "I've seen her work. She may be an amateur, but her designs are
promising."
"Charles," Ryan said as he raised his head. "May I ask for a favor?"
"Go ahead," Charles answered.
"Can you help me get information about Fiona and her relationship with a drillmaster surnamed
Cheng?"
"A drillmaster? Cheng?" Charles frowned.
"Yes, he's one of our drillmasters. I don't know a lot about him though."
"You said his last name is Cheng?" Charles pursed his lips. "What's his first name?"
"I don't know." Ryan shook his head.
"What's his rank?"
"I don't know."
"Do you have a photo of him?"
"No, I don't have one."
Charles threw his hands up and asked, "Then, how am I supposed to have him investigated?"
Ryan's eyes darkened.
"But since it's the first time you've asked me for help, I'll try my best," Charles said.
"Really? Thank you, Charles." It was the first time Ryan had smiled since he entered the study.
"It's nothing." Charles nodded. "You can go now."
"Okay."
Ryan walked out of the study, leaving Charles alone. He sat on the big leather chair and leaned back
as he thought about the name Ryan mentioned. 'Mr. Cheng...'
Music was playing at the Le Bar as Spencer sat alone in front of the counter. NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
He was drinking shots one right after the other. Many beautiful woman wanted to ask him to dance but
Spencer's cold glare quickly sent them away.
A short distance from him, Terence had been watching Spencer for a while. He walked up to him and
asked with a smile, "What's wrong? Drowning your sorrows in alcohol?"
Spencer looked at him and shouted over the loud music, "It's none of your business!"
"Come on! Maybe I can help you out!" Terence turned to the bartender to the place an order. "A glass
of whiskey for me, please."
"Humph!" Spencer only grunted.
They sat together in front of the counter under the dim light. Their tall figures and handsome faces
attracted everyone's attention.
After taking a few sips of his drink. Terence said to Spencer, "Someone's been investigating you
recently. Be careful."
"Investigating me?" he asked seriously. "Did you trace the IP address?"
"It's from within the city," Terence answered. "Someone's been looking for info on you and Fiona."
'Fiona...'
"Don't mention that name to me!" Spencer raised his glass and drained it in one gulp.
Terence placed a hand over his shoulder and advised, "Let her go, man. Don't torture yourself like this."
"Let her go?" Spencer snorted. "We just got our marriage certificates. How can I just let her go?"
"I know," Terence replied after taking a sip of his whiskey. "I heard that Wayne had just announced that
you're married and that he's going to hold a big wedding ceremony for you. But I want to know why you
married Fiona."
"To satisfy Grandpa's wishes," Spencer answered calmly. He then turned to Spencer and drunkenly
pointed a finger at him. "Also, to take my revenge on her."
Terence nodded and said, "But when I say let her go, I mean letting go from the bottom of your heart.
Are you going to hold onto this for the rest of your life? This hatred isn't just hurting you, but it's also
hurting Fiona!"
Spencer narrowed his eyes as he said, "Then, let it hurt us for the rest of our lives."
"What if Celine comes back? Have you ever thought about that?" Terence asked. There was a hint of
anger in his tone that didn't escape Spencer's notice.
'Celine?' Spencer laughed but there was sadness in his voice when he answered, "Whether she comes
back or not, we can no longer be together, right?"
"But..."
Terence wanted to say something, but Spencer interrupted him, "That's enough. Let me know if you
find out more about the person investigating me. I'm going home."
"Do you want me to call you a cab? You're drunk."
"No, thanks." Spencer dismissed his worries with a wave as he stood up.
"Okay. Be careful."
"I will."
Terence watched as Spencer left the bar, after which he poured himself another glass of whiskey and
drank alone. He took out his phone and read a message he received yesterday.
"Hi, Terence! I don't know if things are still the same in M City, but I can't ask him. I can only ask you.
I'm coming back."
'She really is coming back,' Terence thought as he reached for another drink.
Meanwhile, it was a quiet night in Four Seasons Scenery.
Fiona was sleeping soundly in the main bedroom that she didn't hear the door when it opened. She
only stirred when she felt someone lay beside her.
"Hmm?" Fiona slowly opened her eyes and saw the figure of a man beside her, illuminated only by the
moonlight. Frightened, she screamed as she pushed the figure away. "Ah! Who are you? Go away!
Help! Mnnph..."
The man quickly covered her mouth. Fiona detected the scent of alcohol from his breath when he said,
"What's wrong with you? Don't you recognize me?"
"Spencer!" She gasped as she tried to kick him.
But Spencer didn't care about Fiona's resistance. He pulled himself on top of her and kissed her
passionately on the lips.
"It hurts!" Fiona cried out in pain as Spencer's lips pressed forcefully against hers.
Ignoring her pleas, Spencer pinned her down on the bed with his weight. Fiona could only grit her teeth
as she tried not to make a sound.
"Celine... Celine..."
He whispered into her ears with his eyes closed.
Fiona trembled for a moment, but hearing Spencer's vague words, her curiosity was
piqued.
