The Alpha King's Hybrid Mate

Chapter 58

"Aren't you being too cruel?" Clara asked wilfully as she approached Jared. She folded

her arms and gave Jared a long stare.

Jared wore a mischievous smile on his face and reciprocated the stare;noveldrama

"What do you mean? I don't quite understand." He replied to her.

Clara fumbled with the pen on the table and suddenly looked into Jared's eyes.

"Don't play dumb with me, Jared. I know everyone of your plans. You took such a great effort to send her there, and you even gained her trust alongside. Killing two birds with a stone, what a brilliant plan." She smiled, clapping her hands at Jared.

"You know too much." Jared gave her a stern look, moved closer to her, and held her by her throat. Clara gasped and tapped Jared's hand but he didn't loosen his grip.

"I...can help you. As long as Killian dies, I am ready to do anything." Clara stammered. Her words caught Jared's interest, and he slowly released his grip.

He stared intensely into her eyes for some moments before giving her a warm smile.

"You seem to have a deep hatred engraved in your heart for Killian." Jared mumured. Clara's eyeballs were reddened from Jared's grip and she coughed, struggling to catch her breath.

"I don't care...as long as...as long as he is dead, I can do anything." Jared stretched out a cup of water for her which she gulped down hurriedly.

"Including sacrificing your dear friend?" Jared asked, causing Clara's heart to miss a beat. She glanced at Jared and wore a slight smile.

"I don't keep friends. Also, to achieve great things, one has to be brutal and hard- heartened. Besides, isn't she your own daughter?" Asked Clara. It was Jared's turn to clap for her. Clara's response had taken him by surprise, he wasn't expecting to hear such a response from her.

"But why would you want to sacrifice your daughter? She is your biological child!" Clara stressed out, while Jared just let out a roaring laughter.

"Just as you said, to achieve great things, one needs to be brutal. Moreso, I warned her, but she wouldn't listen to my advice, it's her great honor that she will be sacrificed for the bigger picture." Jared uttered, while Clara sighed.

Jared walked closer to her, staring directly into her eyes, causing Clara's heart to race. "You are very smart, how about you join hands with me? I promise you heaven and earth if we successfully bring Killian down." He asked her, leaving Clara dumbfounded.

A rumble of thoughts swept across her mind.

'if he could sacrifice his own child, then I am nothing to him. I should better be careful around him." She thought within herself. Moreover, saying a 'no' to his request could be deadly, she already knew of his plans, if she were to disagree to work with him, he might attack her just to keep his secret safe. So, saying a 'no' was definitely not possible.

Jared smiled and moved towards his wardrobe where his sword was kept. He grabbed the sword, and slowly unshielded it, making a clicking sound as he drew it out.

Clara understood the message he was passing across. Her head could be rolling on the floor anytime soon if she disagreed to his request. Just as she had expected, she has no choice but to agree.

"Have you decided your..."

"I will do it!" Clara said with a firm tone, staring at Jared as a tiny smile became visible on her lips.

"Really? Don't you need to think about it for some moments more? So it won't be like I am forcing you." Jared said mischievously. One could tell from his tone that he was being sarcastic with his words.

Clara stared at him before letting out a huge laughter which Jared reciprocated immediately.

"No. I have decided, and I am fully ready." Clara uttered. Jared took in a deep breath and nodded at Clara.

"Good decision. I was not wrong about you." Jared walked to his desk and grabbed a gourd of wine. He also collected some cups and poured some wine into them. He took out his sword, cut a part of his flesh and dripped his blood into a cup, he passed the other cup to Clara who hesitantly did the same thing. They exchanged the cups, and Jared smiled.

"Let's drink this, and we become sworn siblings. None of us must betray the other, else, the person should die by thunder strikes." Clara nodded and they both gulped down the wine, drinking each other's blood.

"That's good. So, tomorrow is the D-Day, nothing must go wrong. I have stationed my men in the pack house. A huge drama is about to unfold, it's time to claim that Alpha position, it's time for the whole world to bow before me, and claim me as their Alpha..." He paused, raising his hand into the air, feeling dominant and powerful.

"... the poison should be taking effect now." He continued. He had applied some slow- acting poison on Lydia's clothes, once the poison comes across fire, it scent will evaporate into the atmosphere, weakening the victim drastically, and a weak person might eventually die from it.

"Then how about Lydia, what will happen to her?" Clara asked in curiosity, but careful enough not to ask sensitive questions.

"Someone as strong as Killian will have his power reduced by half, but someone like Lydia might..." he paused and swallowed hard. He fisted his palm, tightening it so hard that his nails started digging deep I to his palm.

"... might die!" He banged his injured fist on the table, smearing the papers with his blood. Clara was taken aback by his reaction, she knew she had to be extremely careful around him.

Meanwhile, a maid had been staying by the window side all the while, and had overheard all of Jared and Clara's conversation.

"Oh no! Lady Lydia is in danger!"
