The Billionaire And His Son Want Me Back (Paisley)

Chapter 267

Near the filming location was a

small hospital. Since it was just a minor issue of stitching wounds, Paisley told the ambulance to take them there.

The paramedic initially hesitated. Dominick's injury seemed straightforward-

a hurt hand. But Paisley had a head injury. Small hospitals might not have the capacity to handle it. If treatment got delayed, the consequences could be severe.

However, Paisley insisted and even signed a liability waiver. In the end, the paramedic had no choice but to take her to the small hospital.

In the treatment room, two.doctors worked separately on Paisley and Dominick's injuries.

Compared to the doctors' cautious and slightly nervous demeanor, Paisley and Dominick were much calmer.

Paisley's wound was treated first, and she sat in the hospital corridor, calling Maria. She told her not to wait for her return and to rest early.

In her current state, she knew she needed to go home and clean up first, at least to change into fresh, blood-

free clothes. She didn't want to frighten Serena and Maria when she got back.

"Okay, sweetheart, sleep tight. When you

wake up tomorrow, I will be there," Paisley said gently, comforting Serena, who had been very clingy

lately.

After ending the call with Serena and Maria, she opened her call log.noveldrama

While she was on the phone earlier, another number had been trying to call her repeatedly. Checking it, she saw it was an unfamiliar number. They probably had something urgent to tell her. As Paisley debated whether to call back, a message came in-

from that same number. She opened the message and saw Sheela's name at the top. [Ms. Sutton, can you see this? Maybe I'm overthinking, but I feel something's off about this person.] Attached to the message was a photo Sheela had sent. In the photo, a man

in casual workwear was crouching by the fallen stage light. Due to the angle, it was impossible to tell what he was doing.

But just one look, and Paisley recognized him. She remembered seeing this man before filming started-

standing behind her. When she asked him what he needed, he'd awkwardly said he was just passing by.

Feeling suspicious, Paisley immediately called Sheela back. It was as if Sheela had been waiting for her call. She picked up within a second. "Ms. Sutton, are you okay?" Sheela's voice was filled with concern. "I'm fine," Paisley replied. "Why do you think this person is suspicious?"

The man was dressed as a crew member, so it made sense for him to be near the fallen light unless he had done something truly unusual to draw Sheela's attention. Sheela's next words confirmed Paisley's hunch. Sheela explained how she had seen the man walking around the overhead rigging. "At the time, everyone including you had already left the set. But

he stayed up there. And I noticed that the spot where he stood was directly above where you were sitting earlier."

In other words, if the light had fallen then, Paisley wouldn't have been able to react in time because she was tied to the chair for the shoot. The light would've struck her directly. The consequences could've been catastrophic. "My seat," Paisley murmured to herself, suddenly realizing something. Today, she had been sitting in a different spot than usual.

Normally, at the set, she had a designated chair. Wherever it was placed, she would sit there.

Previously, to

facilitate discussions with Gary about the script, her chair was always placed near Gary. But today, it seemed like her chair was positioned further away from Gary.

Initially, she didn't pay much

attention to it as no one would care about where a chair was placed. But now it seemed that someone had deliberately positioned her chair that way, with the intention of having the falling light hit her directly when it

dropped.

But just as the light was about to fall, she was called away because of Dominick's arrival. Ironically, Sheela hadn't gone out because she was fasting to lose weight, and she happened to witness the whole scene. "Ms. Sutton, based on my years of acting experience, I feel this person is trying to harm you," Sheela said, sounding very serious, with a tense and worried tone. Paisley could almost picture the way Sheela furrowed her brow at that moment. But now, thinking it over, this was indeed something worth worrying about.

"Alright, I understand. Thank you for letting me know," Paisley replied, still calm so far.

"Should we call the police?" Sheela became more agitated, then lowered her voice as if realizing something. "Isn't this attempted murder?"

If it were true, then it would indeed be attempted murder. However—

"I'll handle this. You just pretend nothing happened and don't make any rash moves," Paisley said.

If this was really the case, then there must be a bigger purpose behind it, and Paisley didn't want to involve Sheela.

"Alright, I understand. No matter what you decide to do, Ms. Sutton, I'll support you," said Sheela.

Paisley smiled wryly. It seemed Sheela had misunderstood her intentions.

Just as Paisley hung up the phone, Gary and the production team rushed over in a panic. At that moment, Dominick, having finished treating his wound, walked out of the treatment room.

Upon seeing Gary and the production team, he immediately gave them a murderous glare. Gary and the production representatives were so frightened that they froze, drenched in cold sweat. "Ms. Vaire, are you alright?" Gary was more concerned about Paisley than he was about Dominick. He nervously approached her to check on her.

"I'm fine. It's not a big deal," Paisley reassured him.

She knew that in situations like this,

that in

Gary would be the most panicked. If either she or Dominick suffered any major issues, the whole production would have to stop. And Gary's directing career would come to an

end.

After several confirmations, Gary was relieved to know that both Paisley and Dominick were fine, though he still felt uneasy.

"Ms. Vaire, I know it's unfair to you, but could we please not pursue this matter for now?" Gary said, almost reluctantly, as if under Dominick's threat of death.

The production

had already faced so many setbacks. If Paisley and Dominick pressed charges, the entire production would halt, waiting for an investigation. No one knew when they'd be able to restart filming.

The actors all had tight schedules, especially Sheela, whose schedule was packed. Even one more day of delay could ruin everything.

To alleviate his guilt towards Paisley,

Gary quickly added, "Don't worry, the production has insurance for every staff member, including you. All costs will be covered by the

insurance. As for Mr. Vande net

Gary glanced at Dominick, whose expression was gloomy. "The production will cover his medical expenses too!"

Dominick was somewhat offended. He didn't care about the money. All he cared about was Paisley's safety.

At first, he was only focused on Paisley, but now, thinking back, he couldn't say for sure whether the light falling was intentional or accidental. There was no way he could just leave this matter like this.
