The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 510 Cutting Ties

A few days later, the Emerald City Police Department reported back that they still

hadn't found Dean and Sophia.

Emily wasn't surprised by the news at all.

Those two cunning villains together wouldn't be easy to find.

"I can't believe it! That Sophia is really good at hiding! It's driving me nuts. She's such a damn pain in the ass!" Abigail fumed.

Hearing this, Emily quickly put down her spoon, clutching her stomach and frowning. "Abigail, watch your language!"

Seeing Emily's reaction, Abigail hurriedly handed her a glass of water, concerned. "Okay, okay, I won't say anything vulgar anymore!"

Seeing how carefully Emily was protecting Harry, Abigail couldn't help but laugh. "What if Harry is really naughty after he's born? Are you going to protect him like this too?"

Emily, full of motherly love, quickly retorted, "How do you know he'll be naughty? What if he's a little gentleman? You might end up loving him so much you can't let go!"

Emily gently stroked her belly, her eyes filled with tenderness and anticipation, as if she could already see her future child.

Abigail shook her head with a smile, her eyes full of affection. "A little gentleman? He must take after you then! I like that even more!"

Abigail didn't realize anything was wrong with what she said. She got up, humming a tune as she went to ladle some chicken soup, completely missing the change in Emily's expression.

Take after her?

Would he also take after Michael?

Emily suddenly felt that she had been too naive and simplistic before.

Michael was the child's father, so the child would inevitably have some of his traits. For the next few decades, she would see Michael's shadow in her child. This was undeniable and something she could never escape.

"Emily, I have to go to work now!" Abigail glanced at the time, quickly finishing her breakfast at the kitchen island.

Emily got up to clear the dishes, responding to Abigail as she did.

When she heard the door close, the room fell silent, and the more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.

Emily decided to put everything down and head out to get the house on Maple Street ready as soon as possible.

She wanted a change of environment, to get further away from Michael.

She realized that if she didn't leave soon, her world would be completely taken over by Michael.

Meanwhile, Michael was also thinking about Emily.noveldrama

He had the chef send some freshly made ceviche to Abigail's house, but Michael knew

he wouldn't get any response or gratitude from Emily.

Emily had made up her mind to part ways with him.

This was a fact that Michael, though unwilling to admit, had to face.

Just as Michael was deep in thought, he received a message from Veda: [Michael,

come to the conference room. The Lancaster family is here.]

Seeing this, Michael thought Archibald had arrived.

After not hearing from Archibald for a few days, Michael was anxious. He really wanted to deal with Sophia and Dean quickly.

This way, he could stop bothering the Lancaster family.

But it seemed that since Dean couldn't be found, and the Lancaster family was eager to establish themselves in Emerald City, they came in a hurry.

Michael quickly composed himself and headed to the conference room.

The moment he opened the door, he realized he was wrong, but not entirely.

The one eager to establish a foothold in Emerald City wasn't Archibald, but Celeste. Seeing Michael, Celeste widened her smile. Though she usually appeared composed and dignified, when dealing with business partners, her smile became a bit too eager, revealing her true nature.

Veda had seen this look many times recently and knew what her visit meant.

She was about to find an excuse to leave.

But Michael stopped her. "Celeste came all this way, you should stay and listen. What's the rush?"

Hearing this, Celeste nodded and smiled in agreement.

In reality, she didn't want Veda to be present. What she was about to discuss with Michael was somewhat embarrassing.

After Dean's recent antics, it had become very difficult for her to establish herself in Emerald City.

Today, Celeste came to Smith Corporation not for anything else but to quickly distance herself from Archibald and Dean.

With Archibald back in Everglade City, she needed to make more appearances at Smith Corporation.

Before Celeste could speak, Michael already understood her sudden visit. She wanted to take advantage of Archibald's absence to mend relations with Smith Corporation.

It was a cunning move, especially since they were relatives.

But business doesn't care about family ties; it's the same for everyone.

Michael quickly thought of Emily and Hayden, and his relationship with his mother. His mind was momentarily occupied by thoughts of Emily.

He sighed and addressed Celeste. "Celeste, you must have something important to discuss. Have you found Dean?"

Celeste was momentarily taken aback, not expecting Michael to mention Dean first. She was at a loss for words.

However, she quickly recovered, clearing her throat to cover her embarrassment. "Not yet. That guy is really slippery, impossible to catch! It makes me so angry. I can't believe he was seduced by that woman to this extent! I've been abroad, and I have no idea how Archibald raised him! It's outrageous!"

In a few sentences, Celeste tried to distance herself from Dean.

Seeing Michael's unreadable expression, she adjusted her tone, speaking more gently. "But Michael, I'm not here to talk about that. No matter their mistakes, our business must go on, right?

"That's the main reason I came to Emerald City. We can't let Dean affect our cooperation, can we?"

Michael smiled slightly, his gaze calm. He had already seen through Celeste's intentions.

So nothing she said surprised him.

Veda, on the other hand, was secretly sneering. She looked at Celeste's meticulously made-up face, thinking, 'To secure a business opportunity, she's shamelessly distancing herself from Dean and Archibald. How despicable.'

She wanted to leave but couldn't. She could only roll her eyes in secret.

Michael, however, had had enough.

"Celeste, I understand what you're saying." His response was casual but direct. "But you know, family disputes are always complicated. Business is business, but the people we do business with are just as important."
