Chapter 347 The History
Chapter 347 The History
Joseph’s voice was calm and emotionless, which amazed Hayden.
Hayden said then, “Joseph, I know what you mean, but she is your mother, and Benjamin is also our
friend...”
“No, please don’t speak more.” Before Hayden finished speaking, Joseph interrupted her.
His voice was still indifferent, as if he really didn’t care about this matter.
“I won’t help them. She is not one of Beckham twenty years ago when she left the family. I’m not gonna
help her because her troubles have nothing to do with me. You should go back, now.
Joseph said this firmly. He had made his mind.
“I regard Benjamin as my brother. You should help him.”
“I just know your only brother is Freddie.”
“You...” Hayden was helpless. She didn’t know what to say, and meanwhile, she was irritated, “Fine, I’ll
help him. I can also get twenty million. I’ll do that, and it’s none of your business.”
Then she hung up the phone.
As she turned back and looked at the inn, she felt angrier.
She always thought Joseph was not as indifferent as he looked. Though his mother made mistakes
before, it was history. Rebekah gave birth to him, and there was actually no hatred between them, so
why did he refuse to help his mother?
The more Hayden thought about this, the angrier she got.
“Hello? Dante, please check how much cash we have now.”
“...”
Hayden continuously made phone calls. She got all the money she could get, but it was still much less
than twenty million. After all, she couldn’t sell those properties immediately.
Hayden sat on the first floor and was worried.
In the early evening, the sound of the engine appeared out of the inn. The car from Nanking stopped
there.
Magnus got there.
“Ms. Downey, Mr. Beckham asked me to find you back. It’s dangerous for you to drive alone at night.”
However, no matter how much effort Magnus made to persuade Hayden, Hayden just sat there and
didn’t speak.
“Ms. Downey, it’s my task. I can’t go back alone if you don’t go with me.”
Hayden glanced at Magnus and said with anger, “So don’t go back. There are rooms in this inn, but you
should pay for it. Credit is not allowed tonight.”
“Huh...”
Magnus was helpless, “Mr. Beckham’s decision is also for your own good. Please go back with me. He
often speaks gruffly, but if you go back with me, he will say nothing this time.”
“Gruffly?” Hayden was surprised, “What does he want to say?”
Magus hesitated for a second, and then said carefully.
“He said he has lost touch with those people for twenty years, and now they planned to be kidnapped
not so long after they met Mr. Beckham. Beckham has money, and twenty million is not a big number,
but they can’t defraud Beckham in such a disgusting way.”
Hayden got furious when she heard this. She pounded the desk and stood up.
“Does he lose his mind? Defraud? Ha! Does he think Benjamin defraud him by being kidnapped?
Benjamin is a student at the University of Public Security! He has a promising future. He won’t cheat
Beckham like this.”
Magnus didn’t dare to say anything. He just lowered his head and heard Hayden scold him.
The boss said Ms. Downey would go back with him as long as he did as he said. Boss’s plan looked
useless. It seemed that Mr. Downey wouldn’t go back after hearing that. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
However, just when he was secretly murmuring, he heard Hayden say, “I’m gonna go back to ask him.”
Magnus instantly raise his head and was stunned.
The boss was really scheming. His plan worked!
“The car is there at the gate. I’ll drive it. Do you have any luggage? Let me take it.”
“No, I have no...”
As Hayden said this, she suddenly found a shadow on the second floor. When she turned around and
checked it, she found there was nothing.
Hayden became nervous, because Rebekah must have heard her conversation with Magnus.
In Rebekah’s room, Rebekah was sitting by the desk, and staring at the album on the desk.
Maybe she had got into trouble just because she had been reminded of the past. Maybe she shouldn’t
have taken those photos out.
The knock sounded outside. It was clear in the silent room.
“It’s me.”
“Come in.” Rebekah hurriedly wiped her tears away.
Hayden opened the door and came in with a soft pace, as if she was afraid of scaring Rebekah.
She asked gingerly, “Are you crying?”
“No.” Rebekah showed a strained smile, “Do my eyes look swollen? Maybe it’s because I cried too
many times these days.”
“You heard all of those, right?”
Hayden asked with hesitation. She knew the answer as she saw Rebekah’s face turning pale.
Hayden explained, “Don’t misunderstand. Joseph said that because he wants to provoke me and
forces me to go back. It’s not his real thought.”
“I know.” Rebekah said calmly, “I know he hated me. His father’s death was also because of me. I’m
guilty. Benjamin is my son, so it’s my business to take him back. I’m not willing to ask Joseph for help
even if he wants to help.”
Hayden frowned, and then asked, “Who did Benjamin offend? Why can’t we call the police?”
Talking about this, Rebekah was silent. It seemed she was reluctant to explain that.
“If we can’t get so much money, we have to call the police.” Hayden frowned and continued, “Besides,
Benjamin is an elite student at the University of Public Security, so the police will pay great attention to
him. I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to stay here and wait for the money. Calling the police is
obviously a better way.”
“No.” Rebekah looked panicky. She even grabbed Hayden’s sleeve, “We can’t call the police.”
“Why?” Hayden was confused, “There must be reasons, but why? Benjamin may die for this.”
Rebekah was hesitant and tired, as if she was suppressed by the past. The sweats came out on her
forehead.
“Nothing is more important than Benjamin’s life! He’s Benjamin, your son.”
Hayden said this. Then she found the hesitation in Rebekah’s eyes became sorrow, and then became
tears.
“Mrs. Beckham...”
Hayden didn’t know what to do now.
“Sit here.” Rebekah choked with sobs, and asked Hayden to sit down.
“I know what you mean. I know I have no other ways except for calling the police. But...but the man
who took Benjamin away is a merciless outlaw. He will kill Benjamin if he finds something.”
“Who is he?” Hayden asked. She knew it must be history.
“Zed.” Rebekah said this name with her gritted teeth, “He’s the demon who has been haunting me for
thirty years. He should also take responsibility for Joseph’s father’s death.”
Hayden was shocked as she heard this.
