The Doted Lady Is So Wild

Chapter 76:Bringing Her to see His Mother

The next morning, Kristen got up early. Today was the day she was discharged from the hospital. When Anna heard this news, she bought a large bouquet of flowers for her.

“Kristen, congratulations. You’re finally discharged from the hospital.”

Kristen took the flowers and said, “Thank you.”

After finishing the discharge formalities, Kristen left the hospital with Anna. However, as soon as she went downstairs, she saw a Rolls-Royce parked there.

There was no extra emotion on Kristen’s face as she greeted Ethan politely.

Unexpectedly, the next second, the car door opened, and Ethan walked up to her and said to Anna, “You go back first. I’ll send her back to the crew later.”

Anna nodded sensibly. “All right, Mr. Wharton.”

Ethan stretched out his hand and grabbed Kristen. “Get in the car.”

Kristen asked, “Where are we going?”

Ethan explained, “I said I’d bring you somewhere before. Today, we can go take a look.”

Kristen hesitated for a moment before getting into the car.

The driver drove away. Along the way, Kristen kept looking out of the window. Looking at the buildings that flashed by, Kristen’s heart was very calm.

The car drove toward the suburbs. The further it went, the more remote it became. In the end, it came to a cemetery.

Kristen looked at Ethan in surprise, but he gave her a reassuring look. Finally, under Ethan’s signal, Kristen got out of the car.

“Mr. Wharton.” an old man in sixties greeted him respectfully.

Ethan nodded slightly, and then he said, “Is everything ready?”

“Don’t worry, it’s already been prepared.” With that, the old man entered the house and handed Ethan a bouquet of chrysanthemums.

Ethan took it and walked toward the stairs with the other hand holding Kristen’s hand.

The two walked up the stairs. After about a dozen steps, Ethan stopped in front of a tombstone. A young woman with a bright smile on her face was fixed on the photo forever. Kristen had already guessed something.

“This is my mother.” The simple introduction was exactly what Kristen had thought.

Ethan handed her the chrysanthemum and said, “Mom, I’m here to see you.”

Kristen had never seen such a gentle Ethan, so she couldn’t help asking, “Why did Auntie pass away?”

“Difficult labor. The day I was born was the day she left.”

Kristen looked at him in surprise. Finally, she said slowly, “So, that day, you…”

“I’ll stay here with her for the whole day.”

For some reason, Kristen felt an inexplicable pain in her heart when she heard this. She had guessed countless possibilities, but she had never thought that he had his difficulties.

“I’m sorry, Kristen. I’ve kept you waiting the whole day, but I’ve never celebrated my birthday. Don’t bother preparing anymore.”

“I’m sorry, Ethan. I didn’t know…”

Ethan, however, generously rubbed her head and said, “It’s okay. Thank you for your care. The cake is beautiful.”

Kristen’s eyes reddened and she reached out to hug him.

It turned out that he had been like her since he was a child. He had no mother to accompany him. How had he spend all these years?

She still had her grandfather and the brothers who loved her dearly, but what about him? He seemed to have survived those difficult years alone.

“Ethan, can I come with you on your birthday in the future?”

Ethan looked at her in superise. In the end, he only nodded slightly. “Alright.”All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

Ethan sat down beside the stairs with Kristen and began to tell her some stories of the past. Kristen listened carefully and had a new understanding of him from his descriptions.

After leaving the cemetery, Ethan sent Kristen to the crew. After watching her leave, Ethan’s tensed body finally relaxed. At this moment, his face was a little pale, and his forehead was covered with sweat. The left side of his heart was aching.

He tried his best to make a phone call to Xenos. After briefly telling him his location, Ethan loosened his grip, losing consciousness and falling into endless darkness.

When Kristen returned to the set, she bumped into Taylor.

Taylor didn’t have many scenes in this film. She had to put in a lot of money to buy an unimportant character. Today, she had just finished filming. Seeing that Kristen had returned, she couldn’t help mocking her. “You hasn’t even gotten famous yet, but you’ve already putting on airs. It’s only been a few days since the filming started and you’ve already asking for leave every day. Those who don’t know would think that you’re the one who sponsor the film.”

Kristen frowned slightly. She didn’t want to talk to her, so she took the props and clothes to the dressing room to change.

Taylor also noticed that there was something wrong with Kristen today, so she asked Anna, “What’s wrong with Kristen?”

Anna didn’t want to talk to Taylor, so she said angrily, “It’s none of your business.”

After saying that, Anna left. Taylor was furious but she had no place to vent her anger. She could only shout at her assistant, “What are you still standing here for? Hurry up and remove my makeup and change my clothes. My work finished, what are you still doing here?”

The assistant could only swallow his anger and did not dare to refute her.

However, Taylor felt that this was not enough. She rolled her eyes and finally fixed her eyes on Kristen’s bag. Kristen had entered in a hurry and had forgotten to take her bag. There was no one around, so Taylor told her assistant.

“Wait for me outside.”

The assistant didn’t think much of it and left.

Taylor looked around and saw that there was no one around. She quietly went forward and took Kristen’s bag. Then she opened it and rummaged through it. There was nothing special in the bag except for a mobile phone.

While Taylor was disappointed, her gaze was fixed on Kristen’s phone. She took the phone and turned it off, putting it in her own pocket.

After she was done, Taylor put her bag back and pretended to be calm as she left the dressing room.

Kristen did not know that her phone was missing. After changing her clothes, she entered the set. Because she had delayed her filming due to a few days off days ago, she had added two or three scenes today. It was not until after 10 p. m. that the filming ended.

Kristen came out of the set and searched around but did not find her mobile phone. She quickly asked, “Anna, did you see my phone?”

Anna was puzzled. “Isn’t your mobile phone always in your bag? I haven’t used it.”

Confusion flashed across Kristen’s face and she said, “Give me your phone.”

Anna dialed Kristen’s number, but there came a cold female voice.

“Kristen, the phone is off.”

Kristen was even more confused. She remembered that she had charged her phone. Why was it powered off? Could it be that her phone had been lost?
