Chapter 807
Watching the scene unfold, Matthew felt a pang of sorrow. He tried to say something but couldn't. It felt as if he had a lump stuck in his throat.
So, Matthew just stood there, watching Tony sob with his disheveled hair covering his face.noveldrama
Crying could be heartbreaking, but it was sometimes for the best at least for Tony's health. Getting his emotions out would keep him from bottling everything up until he snapped and went crazy.
Tony wept for a while before his sobs gradually quieted. Eventually, he wiped his tears with his sleeve, stood up, and turned to Matthew. "The house is such a mess, and there's nowhere to sit. How about I take you out to eat?"
Eating out?
Tony's clothes were worn and tattered. He didn't look like he had any money on him. Without a phone, he couldn't really make payments with PayPal either.
Smiling, Matthew added, "Why don't I treat you instead?"
Tony raised his hand and boldly declared, "I insist on treating you. If I don't know basic courtesy at my age, I might as well give up living."
Tony was actually a courteous person.
Matthew chuckled. "Sure. It's on you, then."
He didn't fuss about who paid-he just wanted to sit and talk. He had some
questions about Vital Restorative Remedies and Octolith.
They locked the door and made their way toward the village entrance.
As they walked, many villagers ran into Tony and happily greeted him, addressing him with respect.
"You've truly recovered, Dr. Carling. I'm so glad."
"Mr. Carling."
"Swing by for dinner at my house when you're free, Dr. Carling."
People had a lot of respect for Tony after he got better. Some even held him in high regard. Otherwise, why would there be so many people coming to check up on him after hearing the news of his recovery?
Tony was smiling and waving as he walked. Even though his clothes were grubby and his hair was unkempt, the way he carried himself, waved, and smiled exuded a warm, welcoming vibe.
Matthew quietly nodded in approval. The attitude from the villagers was just the status and respect a true successor of Vital Restorative Remedies deserved.
Twenty minutes later, Matthew and Tony got out of the car in front of Reel Good Eats.
Tony looked up at the "Reel Good Eats" sign and flashed a smile at Matthew. "You know how they say it with food. The fewer its legs, the better the food. Today, I'm getting you the 'no-legs' special!"
With a grin, Matthew responded, "Sounds great! Have you tried the fish here?" Since Tony picked this restaurant, he must have come here pretty often.
Tony leaned closer and stated, "I saved the owner's son, so he's really grateful to me. He often invites me over for a meal, but I've been too busy to make it. Finally, I have some time today."
Matthew didn't expect Tony to be close to the owner. No wonder he'd show up without cash. The owner probably wouldn't even take his money if he tried to pay.
"Alright, let's head inside. I need to talk to you about something as we eat."
Tony led the way and started walking to the restaurant.
Just as Tony reached the door, a woman in her 30s stopped him. "What are you doing? Move along. Don't disturb the customers in my restaurant."
Standing up straight, Tony cleared his throat and calmly replied, "I'm a friend of your boss. He often invited me here to eat. I finally have some free time, so I came by for a bite."
The woman gave Tony a dismissive once-over and scoffed. "With the way you look, do you think our boss would treat you to a meal? Get lost!"
What do you think?
