Chapter 548 His Chilling Methods (Part 2)
"Mrs. Jenkins Senior, you seem to be in rather fragile health," Ethan said with a pleasant smile, observing Yvette's reaction. His tone was still courteous, almost concerned.
"Mr. Marcus is really kind. He arranged for doctors to accompany us the entire way. There is no chance Mrs. Jenkins Senior will die before we arrive.
"After all, you vanished for years and didn't even show up for your own family's funerals. Mr. Holden Senior treated you with kindness and received nothing but betrayal in return. But now, justice is finally being served. Heaven wasn't blind. It was simply biding its time.
"Just last night, the entire Jenkins family cemetery was dug up by wild dogs. You know what that means, don't you? It means the Jenkins family has no good people left. All the evil you've done has finally been noticed by the heavens."
Ethan continued smiling. "Mrs. Jenkins Senior, perhaps your terminal illness is heaven's way of punishing you. And as for your dear little granddaughter. She's 18 now, isn't she? I heard she got into the university she wanted. Right before school starts..."
He let out a chuckle, slow and deliberate. "If heaven really has had enough, and something happens to Ms. Jenkins before she even makes it to college, her life will be over before it begins."
Yvette, supported by Charlene, was visibly growing anxious with each word. If she still failed to grasp what Ethan truly meant, then she had truly lived in vain.
"I want to see Marcus. I want to see Marcus. I must see him. Let me see him." Her voice cracked as she screamed, losing all control.
"Mrs. Jenkins Senior, have a little dignity. Isn't this what you wanted all along?" Ethan replied with a gentle smile.
"So why are you begging to see Mr. Marcus now? He's busy right now, hosting Mr. Holden Senior's funeral. He doesn't have time for someone like you. From here on out, I'll be the one looking after you and Ms. Jenkins."
Ethan clapped his hands. At once, the bodyguards forced Yvette and Charlene into the car.
"Drive. We're going to the Jenkins family cemetery."
He gave the order cheerfully, and the vehicle started, exiting through the back gate of Luminara Park.
"Mrs. Jenkins Senior, I assume you've visited the cemetery over the years, even if only in secret. Mr. Holden Senior chose that site with care. Peaceful surroundings, a serene view. He even brought in a landscape consultant. It was meant to be perfect."noveldrama
Ethan lowered the window and glanced out at the passing landscape.
"Every year on Memorial Day and at Christmas, Mr. Holden Senior would bring Mr. Marcus to lay flowers and pay his respects. But from now on, no one will visit those graves again.
"And you, Mrs. Jenkins Senior, are the disgrace of the entire Jenkins family. When you join them six feet under, do you think they'll curse you?"
Yvette's entire body trembled. She had never dared to visit the graves openly. But she had gone in secret. The cemetery that held over a hundred members of the Jenkins family had been well maintained.
She knew that was all thanks to Charles. The annual upkeep fees were massive, and he had paid in advance for perpetual care.
But Marcus had sent Ethan to show her what had become of the graves. It was clear. There would be no more care, no more protection. The ashes of the Jenkins family would be left scattered.
"I want to see Marcus. I want to see him." Yvette's face twisted in panic as she reached out and grabbed Ethan's arm.
He shoved her away and reached for Charlene instead. With a pleasant smile, he opened the door and, in full view of Yvette, pushed her out without hesitation.
A scream pierced the air.
Yvette froze in shock.
Ethan shut the door and smiled. "Mrs. Jenkins Senior, Mr. Marcus is not someone you can see just because you want to. If you touch me again, you'll be the next one tossed out."
He smiled again, completely calm. "Tell me, do you think Ms. Jenkins is still safe after being thrown from a moving car?"
Yvette stared at him in horror. "You... you..."
"Mrs. Jenkins Senior, compared to your brilliant schemes, I'm nothing but a novice. I hope you'll guide me during our visit to the Jenkins family cemetery."
Ethan brushed the dust off his sleeve, his tone as polite as ever.
"Mr. Marcus asked me to learn from you. He hopes you'll share something useful."
Yvette looked at him like he was a demon in human skin. How could he have pushed Charlene out of a
moving car so calmly? She couldn't even bear to imagine whether
Charlene had survived.
"We've arrived, Mrs. Jenkins Senior."
She was still staring at Ethan when the car came to a stop. He stepped out, opened her door, and made a welcoming gesture. "Please, step out."
Yvette hesitated. She was afraid of what she would see the moment her feet touched the ground.
Seeing her frozen, Ethan grabbed her and yanked her out. She stumbled and fell hard to the ground.
The cemetery had once been a serene, orderly place. Charles had paid an enormous sum for the entire plot. But the graves had all been destroyed. Every single one had been dug up.
Filth had been thrown across the tombstones. The urns were scattered across the ground.
Ashes from inside the urns were
blown in all directions by the wind,
mixed together beyondon
There was no way to tell which
ashes belonged to whom. The
breeze carried them away. There was nothing left.
Yvette's leg gave out beneath her. She hit the ground hard.
"Are you satisfied? You reap what you sow. How does it feel? Are you happy now?" Ethan asked cheerfully.
She knelt in the dirt, drowning in despair. She had never thought Marcus would strike with such precision. One move, and he had severed her lifeline.
Clutching her chest, she gasped for breath. The next moment, Ethan grabbed her jaw, forced her mouth open, and shoved a pill inside.
"You must live, Mrs. Jenkins Senior. Dying now would be far too easy." Ethan's smile never faltered. There was no sign of cruelty in his expression.
"Now, take your time and offer your respects. Let the Jenkins family hear what their most devoted daughter has done in their name."
He turned and leaned against the car, arms folded.
"Take this moment to chat with your loved ones. I hope you're as calm and composed now as you were when you faced Mr. Hector."
With that, he walked away. Ten paces later, Yvette's eyes widened. Something felt wrong in her body. She raised her arm, and her blood ran cold. Something was writhing beneath her skin.
She recognized it instantly. It was the same parasite Cassie had once used on
Laura.
